[Guide] Changing CSC on JM6 - Galaxy Tab General

Hey Guys -
First off thanks to everyone helping with development on our Galaxy Tabs. I've just got mine earlier this week and I have been loving every minute of it. Anyway, being the tinkerer I am, I decided to flash JM6 to my device a few days ago. What a world that opened up. The rom was awesome - so much better than what I had on my stock T-Mobile tab.
I noticed a new thing called "Samsung Apps", which when I clicked on it insisted that there were no apps available. Reading around I noticed that it seems that what Samsung Apps will offer you is based explicitly off your CSC code.
If you flash JM6 with the CSC file it came with, you actually get a Multi-CSC although it is defaulted to KOR (Korea). Apparantly the Korea CSC doesn't have any Samsung Apps available to it.
So in researching I found out that you can actually change your CSC, presuming you have the Multi-CSC flashed through Odin, from the phone menu. Follow these steps to make the change:
WARNING: Changing the CSC does a factory reset on the device, so ensure you have all your apps and system settings backed up!
1) Open the dialer
2) Dial *#272*imei# (replace 'imei' with your devices' IMEI number)
At this point you'll have a listing of all available CSC's on your device. If you have the Multi-CSC from JM6, you'll see a listing of these:
Thanks to manniakk in the I9000 forum for defining what the initials stood for. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779580
XEF - France (Orange F, F SFR, BOUYGTEL, NRJ (SFR), Virgin, Tele2, Auchan, Carrefour, NRJ (ORANGE), Orange (340 01), Orange (647 00), Debitel, Leclerc, Digicel)
XEO - Poland (Plus, Era, Heyah, Orange, Play)
XEU - UK & IRE (O2 UK, Orange UK, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone UK, TESCO, BT Mobile, H3G, Asda, O2 IRL, Vodafone IE, Meteor, H3G IE, Tesco Mobile Ireland)
KOR - Korea (SEC Test)
ITV - Italy (TIM, Vodafone, WIND, H3G)
DBT - Germany (T-Mobile D, Vodafone.de, E-Plus, o2 - de)
CPW - UK & IRE (O2 UK, Orange UK, T-Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone UK, TESCO, BT Mobile, H3G, Asda, O2 IRL, Vodafone IE, Meteor, H3G IE, Tesco Mobile Ireland)
I switched from KOR to CPW, which gave me the following four apps in Samsung Apps:
Vlingo Words to Action
Radio Companion
blinkx Beat
Need for Speed: Shift
I didn't experiment with any of the others, so I'm not sure if they would yield you a different pool of Apps...all I was really interested in obtaining was NFS:Shift (which was 100+mb by the way...but DAMN it looks good).
I hope this makes it easy for some of you interested in getting access to the admittedly small pool of Samsung Apps.
Any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help you!

Good info, thanks for posting this!

Anyone try this in the US or Canada, is it possible to access Samsung apps?

Im on the xeu csc and have 11 apps in the Samsung apps and have had asphalt 5, nfs shift and loads more over the last few weeks.
Also got £200 worth of movies, mp3s, ebooks and games by registering my imei on Samsung.com/galaxytab

Interesting, thank you.

I am in the US, my tab is a T-Mobile tab. It is very possible to access Samsung Apps Changing your CSC to a supported one (such as CPW) will give you them.

Just out of interest, it would appear that a JJ ROM does nothing when this is entered, not entirely unsurprising if the ROM only has data for a single CSC.

Thanks alterbridge.
In my haste to upgrade my ROM to JH6, I forgot to backup my installed Samsung Apps. Now I get back my Asphalt 5, AND Need for Speed.
Here's a list of the Apps I got when changing my JM6 CSC from KOR to XEU
Smart Pack
Healthy Delicious
Samgung Football
Visit Britian
V3
Vlingo Words to Action
Need for Speed Shift.
Visit London
Sky News
Investment Week
WHSmith Books
Asphalt 5 HD
Radio Companion
blinkx Beat

Where can i get a EUR ( for my greek tab ) CSC ?

Yes I got only KOR as an option :-(

Looking for this CSC:
- MOZ - Switzerland (Sunrise, Swisscom, Orange CH)
Thankx for HELP!

Bell Tab on JMA. KOR --> CPW yielded 4 apps for DL including NFS: Shift. Haven't tried it yet but that is pretty sweet...

I have a T-Mobile TAB in the US and it is flashed with JMA. When I enter the code the only option I have is KOR and the only app available in Samsung apps is blinkx Beat.
If I am flashed with JMA full which I am then why is KOR the only option I have? BTW blinkx Beat just showed up like yesterday and I have been on JMA now since it was posted on samfirmware like back on the 5th or something..

Nevermind I used Roto's upgrade. After I re-flashed with JMA full I have all of the CSC options.

I have JM6.
I had a couple of problems with formatting trying to get to JMA, so went back to JM6 because I knew it worked.
But then Samsung Apps and Readers Hub stopped working with many problems.
I just did what was suggested on here and changed to CPW as one of the options and....wow....everything working and 15, yes 15!!! apps in Samsung Apps, some of which I have never heard of.
Many thanks.

Did you have the problems that Readers Hub didn't update?? Because I have upgraded to JM6 (coming from JJ3), changed the CSC from KOR to XEU, 4 apps showed up in Samsung Apps app, but still Readers Hub force closes when it tries to update Pressdisplay, Zinio and Kobo.
Then I tried to change from XEU to CPW, no additional apps added in Samsung Apps, still 4 listed as on XEU csc, and in addition still force close on Readers Hub updates..... any idea why this is, and if the Readers Hub problem even is csc related ?!
I'm on a Euro GT, XXJM6 in The Netherlands, with t-mobile as dutch carrier...

jm6 has the readers hub update problem so changing csc wont fix it

ATTN: AUSTRALIANS who upraded to Froyo 2.2 via Kies using NZ/Telecome i9000T update

I have done this, moving from the JH3 firmware 2.1 Eclair to 2.2 Froyo after usign Kies registry patch and spoofing Kies into allowing me to upgrade to the recently released Froyo 2.2 update for i9000T phones (ENGLISH) that require full use on the 850MHz band.
I have done the upgrade successfully and wow - absolutely astonished that the now TELECOM branded firmware which *ALSO* utilises the same 850MHz handwith as we do here in Australia via Tesltra - I DO NOT HAVE ANY NETWORK DATA CONNECTION. The only way I can is if i connect to my home wifi.
I now beg someone, preferably an Aussie or Kiwi whi has actually DONE the flash and very clearly explain, in full - either what i have done wrong or how this can be fixed.
Thanks
RoOSTA
--------------------
Side note: 2-3 months ago Telstra AU should've already given their customer base the option to upgrade to Froyo 2.2 and the time its taken (Optus AU first, then NZ Telecom), is beyond ridiculous. I have a separate problem which has caused me to update early due to some bullsh*t link that Andriod market needs to have constantly with G_TALK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851043&page=5
Hey man.
I don't have a Telecom Galaxy, but have you done your APN settings etc? Telstra's APN settings should be publicly available, or give Telstra a call and ask them.
It is one thing having your firmware sorted, but if you have no or wrong APN settings, you wont connect to the net. Good luck. :>
Id be inclined to think its apn settings. Just install csc to match your provider.
APN settings not activated properly. Thanks.
Any Telstra users here have the link it takes you to when you open/click "Telstra MyAccount" ?
Thanks
Just install Australia Unbranded I9000DTJP5/I9000XSAJP4/I9000DTJP3/I9000DTJP5 it has all APN settings for the required AUS networks.
he needed 850MHz band.
Did you try this?
http://configure.telstra.com.au/telstra/index.jsp
So after the APN settings were used, was this then fixed?

bump please?
Right you want a UK CSC
The CSC (short for Customer Specific Customization). This includes connection data for the broadband networks as well as apps that are only available in certain languages/intended for a specific area.
Rom kitchin has many CSC including UK
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
CPW has most UK networks .

i do not want to root is there an alternative method?
I think not. But you can try with adb.

Help debranding i5800

Hello am very new to android. Have just got a I5800 that was originally on t mobile. Its unlocked now but i want to flash a generic official rom. I know how to root it if needs be. Could someone advise me on how to go about the debranding.
Thanks in advance
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App
Go to samfirmware.com there you'll find roms (official). Search here in the forum for a flashing guide...
ok i have just found the flashing guide.
i forgot to ask about the CSC. i have a diffrent windows mobile samsung (omnia lite b7300) and when i flashed this for the first time i never knew about the CSC.
my question is this. i assume flashing one package will also flash the CSC, and on the winmo omnia lite the CSC had details of the operators that the data settings are automatically recognised for.
is this the same for android devices and if so does anyone have a UK English CSC for the i5800 or is there any way i can back it up and reflash or am i just worrying about nothing
thanks for your help
Well if you're asking that if you flash one package, it will also flash the csc? Probable and if you want a csc for i5800 just download jpf.
yeah looks like JPF has a english CSC.. hope it has provider settings for the uk lol.
am gonna go try flash when the firmwares downloaded hopefully il be ok.
thanks everyone for your fast replys
anyone got any english i5800 roms with CSC included before i smash it out of frustration. loved this phone before this
found the language option but i still need a english uk default rom or csc because of service proivider settings and when i hard reset
Well download a rom from here and flash and you should be on froyo in the u.k and if not try finding an XW rom

*#272*imei#
where imei is your imei
also hard resets, but on reboot it asked me if i was o2 prepay postpay or tesco mobile.
PERFECT!
off to see wat KIES says.
EDIT :
This device cannot be updated
PDA:JPM / PHONE : JP4 / CSC : JPF (XEU)
Not that that matters i have the right csc

Irish O2 operator PDA/Phone/CSC

Hi there!
Does any body has a values from Irish O2 operator for PDA/Phone/CSC and product code.
Trying to find them ...
What exactly do you mean? If you are trying to switch a phone from another country or want to check whether it's set up for Ireland, try *#272* (your imei number without the brackets)# This will tell you what region, should be XEU for Ireland. Post exactly what is you are looking to do.

It shows me O2I. But I've reflashed my device by Multi-CSC firmware and changed it to this value. Cos previous firmware I've used from some of Nordic countries.
I wonna reflashed back to stock firmware and need to know which one is stock for Irish O2.
I think you need to know which firmware was originally on your phone i.e. Froyo 2.2 for example. Then download the stock firmware from here for that version. If you purchased your phone since October 2010 I think it would have been Froyo 2.1 or possibly Froyo 2.2 As I said earlier, on your dialer put in *#272* followed by your phone imei number, then # This will tell you whether you are on XEU which you should be for Ireland. If you have Multi CSC on the phone you should be able to change it to XEU if needed. Why do you want to go back to the stock rom anyway?

Correct. But not only 2.2, any firmware. And then could download latest one by using Samsung Fus downlaoder.

Thanks Odia but I'm looking for the first SGS I9000
Ok,what version was on your phone when purchased? What version is on your phone now? What region is your phone set to now (see my earlier posts on how to do this)?
You won't be able to download the correct stock rom from here unless you know what version was on it when bought. For warranty, it should not make much difference unless your phone is set to a region other than Ireland.
I'm still struggling to know what it is exactly that you are trying to do, your phone has been flashed, right? What version was on before flashing and what version did you flash onto the phone?
Just thought of something, are you missing some of the provider specific apps? Is your phone rooted? Is your phone unlocked? Are you looking to return it to original status including O2 specific apps?

[Q] XEU CSC for non-European devices?

Hi Guys!
Just figured out that p6800 was imported from the UAE to the UK where i got it from. The bother is is that i need German on Swype as im living in Frankfurt now. It's not an option on it at the moment.
So...is there a general XEU csc for this baby? I can't seem to find one... If there isn't, whats a good one to get with German on Swype, and id like it to be at the forefront of the update chain... i think that the UAE updates will probably be behind european 7.7's...
Any ideas?
Thanks All.
Still looking it is out but cant find a copy anywhere . Have french on mine at moment xef.
