I applied ryanzas lag fix and want to remove it quickly. Will formatting my phone via settings remove it? Does this remove root because I want to keep that.

What version of his lag fix did you apply? You could just use the unlagfix option if you used the market version or the one click.
I did the original the one that required a computer. Can't get to a computer for like couple of days and wondering if I can just remove it doing that method.
Yes formatting your phone.still remove it

I believe if you download the lagfix from the market, you can uninstall it. It gives me an option to remove it.
Search for "lag fix" and you'll find it in the market.

This will only work for lagfix V1+ If I remember correctly. I had installed the one click alpha version via adb and wasn't able to uninstall using the OCLF app. I had to do a complete wipe to get rid of it. The unlagfixme didn't work for me. I installed the app to make life a lil more simple after my wipe.

Do a titanium back up of all of your apps, flash the vibrant stock firmware, or even the new leaked one found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780935
Than use titanium to restore all your stuff, and you will have successfully removed it no matter the version you had used.
I have to go back to odin? You sure the format won't work?

If you did the computer one, you can undo it the same you you applied it, by clicking the file that says "undolagfix" or something similar.
I also installed OCLF but the market version and then I undone everything... But I noticed I still have update.zip should I delete it? Did stock vibrant come with update.zip?

if you go back to the zip file theres is a unlagfixme.bat in there just do that while ur phone is in debug mode

Any idea how long it is supposed to take? I tried to use that and after "allowing" the application from supeuser permissions, it just kinda froze for about 10 minutes, so I rebooted my phone and then i bricked and the phone stayed on a black screen after the samsung G boot screen
every time i restart my phone i have to reload all my widgets. this happened for the first time a couple of days age. i thought i had it fixed, but it started again to day. i have tried flashing to di01 and dl09 stock. all that did was break my mount on my pc (thank you Lord for adrynalyne). i am running adys test 5 voodoo now. until the flash stock i was on imnuts voodoo uv 25. other than the flash to stock, i have not flashed a nonvoodoo kernel over a voodoo. i dont even have nonvoodoo kernels on my sd card. i have done data and cache wipe and a dalvik cache wipe. any ideas?

yeah both those and tw. same same. no workie.
I just started having this problem also. In addition to widgets failing to load my settings reset to default and contacts erase after every reboot. I'm probably just going to do an odin restore unless anyone has any other ideas.
(I have no apps on sdcard and am already using Launcher Pro)

are you running a voodoo kernel?
i think it has something to do with either red cwm or voodoo. i disabled the lag fix and flash a non voodoo kernel with green. that fixed it. using green i flashed another voodoo kernel. when i restarted the phone it did not apply the lag fix. si i rebooted into recovery and got red right away. i enabled the lag fix. restarted and lady android applied the lag fix. when it was done my booted up with all my widgets!!!!!
let me know if anyone else has this problem or theory.
Yes at one point I had run one of the froyo roms/kernels and yes I'm running voodoo. An Odin restore seemed to fix it. Not sure what was the problem.

Several folks over on account had this problem. Getting of red so far has fixed it for everyone. I'm back on voodoo and every thing works great now. But I had to disable lag fix and flash green and flash new voodoo in green before it worked. I have red back but its over green. I didn't even have green before.

I was the stock ROM with my epic rooted ( so i could use wifi hotspot). I got a notice saying 2.2 was finally available, clicked install now and my phone downloaded and then restarted. Then it said install failed and gave me the option to reboot now.
thoughts on how to get froyo working?
Bj
Supposedly , it might be because the root deleted thbe bloatware. I reinstalled all te bloatware ad tried themanual install and it failed. I think you have to remove root and reset phone to stock

If you used one click root, and it deleted the Asphalt Demo, give this a shot. Also take a look at richse's post. This will keep you from having to wipe off your phone completely.

Use Backup to gmail to save your phone log and sms. Use tb or my backup to save your files and data. Odin to eb13 (get .exe file from samsung, install on windows, find .tar file in folder) and do your restores. Restoring data across different firmware is sometimes eventful.

as Klownin says, it's probably the asphalt demo missing. Why they have it set to remove that app when it's known to cause issues in the future with updates is beyond me. Should be left there for the user to back it up and remove it much like all the other crap is left!
99.999% sure the missing demo is your issue, and it can be fixed
To be fair, having clockworkmod in the one-click also breaks updates. If the updates are going to be broken already, why not remove useless files?
Get the cwm flashable eb13 from this thread and flash it with clockworkmod. It will update you from di18->eb13. You don't need to reinstall asphalt. You won't lose your apps and settings.
So I been a Epic owner since OCT and had this problem a total of 3 times, im not sure what causing it at all. As soon as I turn on my phone 3 things force close in a loop, launcher pro, gingerbread keyboard, Some kind of google framework. While I can fix launcher pro I cant do anything about the others, some basic things wont even launch after the loop happens Ie the bower,Dial pad and my cam all cant launch. A format does the trick to fix it but I feel that a exterm thing to do, it a major pain to sign into everything and restore my apps. Im on SyndicateROM E05 atm. Im on the stock Kernel. So how can I fix this or prevent it from happing again?
It has happened to me a couple times, when my phone completely dies.
R u pulling your battery out before it does a complete shutdown? Data problems are usually caused by user errors. Reinstalling your rom usually fixes it. You could also choose to delete the data in the specific apps that are fc.

That sounds like that the source of a problem, So if I wanted to fix my Cam how whould I delete the data?

Hit menu, settings/applications/manage applications/all, then select the App that's giving you trouble. Then hit the clear cache and clear data buttons.

Also try 'fix permissions' in CWM.
When you say stock kernel do you mean the kernel that came with the rom?
If that's the case, then it is data corruption caused by sudden powering down of the device. Try using the journaling "on" version of the rom and that will fix it.

Syndicate's current ROM has severe file permission issues. I had this exact problem, so I fired up logcat viewer and found out that I was having a TON of 'permission denied' messages.
Download Rom Manager and do a 'Fix Permissions' or do it in CWM. I find that doing it through Rom Manager seems to be more thorough and effective as well as verbose though.
Now that you've done that, enjoy your Epic!

I updated to EI22, stock w/OTA update. I then rooted and things were working great. Then about 1 week ago, I did a CWM backup and when I restarted the phone just kept automatically rebooting approx. every 3 -4 minutes. I could not stop it no matter what I did. Then I restored the backup and it worked fine. A few days later, I turned the power off to put in a my extra battery, and when I turned it on, the same thing happened. I had to restore twice fir it to stop this time. Then this morning, I did a reboot to see what would happen, and again it happened. Mind you it was working flawless before I restarted it. I have tried everything from removing programs, turning off the wifi, leaving the battery out for a half hour, but nothing. Sometimes after it reboots, I leave it alone for 15 minutes and then when I hit the power button, it just restarts.
Any ideas before I put back froyo??
Sounds like a bad flash. I would Odin all the way to Stock EC05 then root then flash a Gingerbread ROM. Your error is either in the kernel or recovery to happen immediately after boot. It could even be a flaky partition table.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
OK. Funny, I flashed backed to a stock EC05 and did the OTA update so as to possible avoid any problems like this.

I figured that but the problem may lie in the rooting which required you to flash a kernel or in your recovery module.

Your not alone on this issue. I am also considering going back to froyo
ADW was nice enough to bring up a crash report that I emailed myself. In the stack trace I see that android Package manager has died as a cause of the exception. I am not a java programmer so am at a loss here to what's happening.

So I flashed to the ACS ICS rom and so far no problems. What a great ROM!! Many thanks to Marcusant and ACS.

don't use the OTA.
just root ec05, flash CWM 5, flash modem update ec05 to EI22, flash a rom of your choosing. it's that simple. i don't see why people go the OTA route. it just causes problems with the recovery.
EDIT: also if you want Rom manager, check the kernel(or rom) for compatibility.
Why use ROM MANAGER at all? All the same tasks can be done from Clockwork Mod directly?

It was not supported for the Epic before but with the new CWM5 it is. It is much faster to boot into recovery from ROM Manager rather than powering down and 3 fingering into it. Plus ROM Manager supports renaming your backups when you are doing them. Also ROM Manager will continuously update your CWM if new versions come out. There is also OTA updates available if the developer supports it on their ROM.
