Hey guys, I am still on eclair and have not so good stock email app. Is situation any better on froyo? Is the stock app better and faster?

Hi, email app sucks also on froyo, pretty rubbish. Give a try to k9 mail. I have not missed any functionality until now.
Cheers

OK,
the E-mail.apk in 2.2.1 is already (much) better in presenting HTML and way faster than the old one in 2.2 Froyo.
Also, there's SEVEN (search it via G**gle ), another mailclient which does well with HTML-emails, Samsung uses them in some regions so it can be had for free,
otherwise they have a Beta-program where yuo can DL a Samsung-version
Ann then there are the other Exchange / Email solutions like K9 etc.
But due to speed and navigation-arrows I'm now using the default (exchange) mail.apk from 2.2.1 The first time it's really workeable with approx. 100 emails per day coming in.
as right said, there is a better and free android email app..its not available in market.. you need to get it from seven.. I have posted detailed blog with screen shots and apk file . also the instructions .. pls. visit http://giztech.in
Could I instal that new version of samsung mail client on eclair? Is there apk to download?

Not as far as I know, hoping the 2.2 update brings with it a much better gmail app as 2.1 gmail sucks, much better to just use the website.
It is strange to me that gmail app on Android is so poor...
But generaly speaking the phone is really nice. I'd love to see the 2.2, hope it will improve the software things.

Agree with simonq ,
I spend hours trying to figure out how to copy and paste from gmail without any luck,
BUT, the good news is that you can login to gmail account from the browser then open any email click and hold within your email … it will highlight the text in green
Then you can copy and paste to other location.
Thanks for the tip,

over the past 4 months there has been some awesome mod/hacks to the vibrant/android device, like android runing on the iphone, angry birds coming from the iphone, ninja fruit, the same, lag fix, gps fix, new Roms etc etc... I was wondering, Facebook App for the iphoneis is the best fb app now, how hard would it be to port this app into the android OS.
I guess this questions is more for all the Vibrant/android's developers.
i know there are two totally different OS, but i think we need a better facebook app for the android.
What do you guys think?
isn't the newest fb app pretty much the same as the iphone one? i mean it's by fb so i imagine they want consitency between platforms...
From what I have heard, the facebook app for android is **** compared to the iphone.

i use facebook touch and works great for me..
The FB app for android is missing some real common features. Like clicking on a notification takes you to the mobile site instead of the app, wtf? Can't tag photos and no Facebook chat.

you say that like it's a bad thing...
Missing the ability to chat. I am OK with the rest. No complains. I am loving it but missing that key element.
the layout pretty much looks the same as the iphone version with the exception of chat and that everything isn't incorporated in the app itself...
I also don't like the little photos at the bottom. They seem to just lag up the app.
The android fb app also doesn't have "favorite people" a feature in the apple version that lets you go straight to that particular persons fb page for ex. Your best friend or girlfriend.

I think the android face app sucks balls, I have it installed just to see the newests posts. Then use the FB's mobile website to look at pictures because theyload so much faster.

I've used both for iPhone and Android. The iPhones app is far superior. I use Launcher pros friends widget (awesome) for a quick look then I have to bounce around the FB app and the web to get anything done. This stinks. The iPhone app did it all. I am never going back to Apple, but they got a jump on the good apps and app writers. I have seen a steady improvement since app devs have started to realize that there are great Android Phones now to write too...

I agree, the FB app I had on my iPhone over a year ago completely destroys the current FB app for Android, its really disappointing, I hate not being able to tag people in pictures I upload from my phone and being redirected to the browser for most of the functions. Lame

You have 24 hours to get a refund if you don't want it anymore
For those who actually want to get on fb chat w/android, check out eBuddy. It's not perfect app, but it works well enough.
Doesn't change the fact that in order to do anything semi-complicated (even looking at friends of friends), it's basically impossible to do it with the fb client.

Hi everyone it's me again with one new problem loll
Since this morning i'm running darky 6.0 Rom
This is an awesome rom btw.
Where it get frustrating for me is that i've lost by doing this the samsung email app (not the gmail app or stock email app).
I mean I've lost the samsung email client app that was normally available in samsung apps. Thing is that when i'm in the samsung apps this app is not there.
My idea.is that because.i'm on a custom rom maybe samsung apps hide the app because it thing it may not be available for my.android version....
Is there any way to hack samsung app so he thing i'm on eclair or 2.2?
Or even show all app? This app is.very important for me.
Thanx in advance

Ok, This isn't so much SGSIII specific, but it'll be a major use for my new toy, err, phone once it arrives. The standard google email app in ICS isn't all that great (based on my CM9 usage on a tablet), and it completely sucks if you happen to be off-line, despite having tons of storage space available.
So, does anyone have some recommendations? Primary desire is support for:
1. Exchange (2010). Ideally the ability to go out and search for older emails not stored locally, actually download attachments ahead of time and store them (WinMobile 6.5 could do this, why not Android), search (localy cached) emails while off-line.
2. Support for imap with similar off-line search and attachment downloading
The current email app works ok except for search. I know I'm tained by some of the easy features in the WinMobile email app (can you tell I'm upgrading from a Touch Pro2 ) Of course, the benefits of Android have had me running Gingerbread on the TP2, but that doesn't mean I find all the apps great.
Check out touchdown exchange in the playstore.
Maildroid handles exchange. Not sure about all of the other stuff you are looking for.
I briefly used the HTC One XL email app and that was far superior to the one that comes with the S3. The biggest issue for me is that I am unable to select what folders to sync to my phone.

Maildroid only does WebDAV, it doesn't use ActiveSync which is the one most Exhange Servers use.
Touchdown or Moxier will be your best bet.

Thanks all. Taking a look at Enhanced email (there's a 7 day trial version). Looks pretty similar to the base app, so still feeling out the differences.
Any others? Another feature I've been hunting is a calendar viewer that will grab the attachments that people put into meeting invitations
Another vote for touchdown. I think it's unbeatable for exchange email.

Another vote for EE here... I have been suing it for over a year with great success.
What's wrong with the stock mail app on the GS3? While not quite as good as the one on the HTC One X, it's up there and everything works the way you expect. You can even set it to show images by default, unlike the stock ICS app. It's similar to the Samsung e-mail app in Gingerbread with a few subtle changes and has a way better interface than Touchdown.
I have never had issues with Samsung's email app.

One thing I noticed today was that mail that has already been deleted from the server is still retained by the email app. The app on the Nexus would delete those automatically.
I just tested this. I deleted 2 emails from my Gmail account through my PC Web browser and watched them disappear off of my GS3, right in front of my eyes. We're talking not even 1 second.

Not the gmail app, the email app.
My only issue with the email app is how slow it is compared to many others - including the GS2 email app. Not only that, but every time I hit the home button from the email, everything has to refresh on my home screen. Gets old to watch everything refresh.

I'm talking about the email app. I have Gmail set up as an activesync exchange account, so all of my mail is in one place. My work email account behaves the same. No issues.

I hate all of these. I am an extensive Exhange user and tried all but went back to stock. Each has it's strength and weaknes but the way Touchdown stores contacts and the outdated interface didn't work for me. I wish we had the Htc One email client and spell checker because it is far superior.
Is this an app than can be separated from Sense?
Aqua mail is nice
I think it has the exchange stuff you're looking for

Dear friends...
One of the very few disadvantages of this fantastic device is that the stock email app doesnt support push for more than one hotmail account.
(or windowslive or live etc)
Appart from the main account, the others use manual fetch. (Only the time periods for fetch can be adjusted)
I've tested a number of apps and the only one that seems to be working properly with push and no problems is Touchdown HD.
The problem is that this app is a little expensive (after the 30 day trial)
Any other recommendations verified to be working?
Please keep in mind that for the time being I don't intend on rooting the device so all suggestions should be for the stock phone.
My device is the international version.
Thanks

I use outlook.com app for hotmail (official microsoft email app).
I syncs everything and gives you push email. However I dunno if it supports more than 1 account.

Wow! I just read the comments on the play store and they are horrible. I just remembered this is why I didn't download this app when I was looking. Someone even mentions that they blocked his account after some confusion. A bit of a gamble this one....
