seems that HTC dont have anytime to update any phone for it....
ive got the HTC Magic running on Android(1.5) and they didnt update it with even 2.0 or 2.1 so i have to ROOT it and made the update to 2.2 and its great
Then ive got the Legend the same as yours and im still waiting the 2.2 update to be able to ROOT it and flash any custom ROM to have the market access :S

Well i bought my HTC hero on eBay like many others it did not come with android market would the new HTC hero 2.1 update give me android market ?
Should i update my phone? or should i flash my phone to a custom ROM to guarantee a android market in my phone? Don't know what to do please help.

I recommend flashing a custom ROM (following the guides on xda) If you update to the official 2.1 from HTC you won't be able to root or have a custom ROM (at least for quite a while anyway).
Now i'm going to guess the next question would what ROM do you recommend and all I can say is I use VillainROM 10.3, its all I've ever used and I like it

I'm really tired of waiting for Vodafone to update to 2.2 and keep on reading about the MyTouch Froyo..
Has anyone tried to flash Magic with the MyTouch Froyo update?? I understand that MT3g has a higher buil DMD64 or sth, and am afraid to try before confirming its gonna work...
please help, i'm reallyfed up with not being able to use latest apps and i dont really want to mess up wth custom roms (i like it clean and stock)

i couldn't wait. tried to load the files from the thread on this forum
did not work (9 files not signed in the first file, did not flash)
knowing the mt3g had one more update than my magic (dmd64 vs frg92 or sth similar), i tried to update mine to dmd64. i found the package somewhere, but it did not flash (same thing, unsigned files)...
i guess i have to wait for vodafone's mercy...
or anyone's got any experience / ideas?

hehe, the only thing i could get to work on the diamond was android 2.2 froyo,
Don't you just need to but an HaRET compatible gingerbread (2.3) rom in the andboot/HaRET Folder and then load it?

Hi only found out about rooting once I updated to 2.2 and started researhing to change back so I know 2.2 is unrootable.
Im actually not that bothered with Froyo, my problem is that they changed the radio rom on the update and now I get no signal in my area or house. My wife has exactly the same tarriff, phone everything because we got them at the same time, the only difference now is she didnt update to Froyo and hers still works perfectly.
So my question is could the 2.2 ruu that I updated to be downloaded, change the radio rom to the same as what it was on 2.1 and flashed to my phone or will the bootlaoder still not allow it?

Try flashing one of 2.x RUUs here... http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/
I don't think you can flash a radio with the official update, since you can't root...
you can't do that because hboot checks rom's signature.
