Hello,
I'm new to the HTC HD2 world of ROMs and BUILDs. However, I'm using Core Cell ROM and [BUILD][22.11.2010] [Core Droid V0.8][EVO 4G&BRAVO][WWE&TMOUS][Hastarin R8.4] for Android.
It's running on Froyo 2.2. Now as I want to change the wallpaper. I have wallpapers in the size of 480x800 that I would like to use. However, when I add the wallpapers to my SD card, view in gallery, and "set as..." it makes me crop the picture instead of using the entire size of it as it should.
When I select wallpaper, I see that there are HTC Wallpapers, Live Wallpapers, Gallery (com.htc.album), and Gallery (com.cooliris.media). My pictures are under the 2 Galleries. I think if I can move the wallpapers into the HTC Wallpapers folder I can get it to run normally. However, I cant find it in the Android file on my SD card.
Can anyone give me some advice? Went from a old Blackberry to a win mobile/android and totally confuse as to what I should do. Blackberries were so easy to change wallpapers. Please any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance
That happens all the time, nothing you can do with it unfortunately...
I use the ZEDGE app from the marketplace, it will let you set the wallpapers from the app and it applies the full picture. I recommend using this, Zedge has hundreds of thousands of wallpapers you can use and its a free download.
Hope this helps.
Try "Wallpaper set and save" (free, from the Market).
You can set your own wallpapers with that, and it fixes some resolution problems that many people have with the default wallpaper method.
Alternatively, have a look at Zedge, for wallpaper and ringtones. You can't use stuff that's already on your phone, but there's a MASSIVE selection of stuff on there and you can download and then set wallpaper, ringtones and notifications all from the app, very easily.
Just forget about the default method of setting wallpaper (unfortunately) as it is a bit poo!
Good luck

Nah don't worry, if two people give near the same answer then its a straighter route to a solution
Thank you to both you guys. I ended up going the zedge route anyways (all my 480x800 pictures all came from zedge anyways LOL). Certainly helped!
you should try Zedg..oh never mind

What up peeps! I decided not to go with the iPad2 and wait on the galaxy tab and man am I happy. I love this device so far but unfortunately I have never worked with Android before so some things that I figured would be pretty self explanatory aren't quite that. I did some searching around this forum and havent seen the question asked so here goes. I connected my Tab to my PC and moved all of my photos into the the photos folder. However when I go to my gallery native app, my photos do not appear. I tried to go into the settings to see if I could map my gallery to the photos folder but to no avail. Where exactly am I suppose to load my gallery images to for them to show up when I launch the gallery app. Second question related to gallery, I can get to my photos folders using any one of the file explorer apps, and view my photos there but when I try to set them up as my wallpaper, they only take up a portion of the screen instead of the whole screen like the native wallpapers. Is there a way around this? Thanks in advance for any help! Much appreciated!
Reboot and your photos should show in gallery. I believe the only folder that is auto scanned for changes is DCIM/camera.
The wallpaper is an android thing, it sucks. There may be an app in the market to set wallpaper, but all the ones I have seen always crop and zoom. I think I saw something in the general section of the transformer forum for setting wallpaper.
BTW the resolution on the default wallpaper is 2135x1408.

Thanks Daniel. You are the man! I thought it auto scanned each time you opened Gallery after I saw the images i moved into the DCIM/Camera. They are all where they should be now! I have to agree about the Wallpaper. Its pretty jacked up with the always crop and zoom. I'm going to head out to the market and see if I can find a better wallpaper app. I'll look in Transformer general section to see if I can pull the name of the app! Much appreciated!
Wallpaper Wizardrii is the answer to all funky cropping
Daniel-
You are the man. I found this over in the Transformer general section. Works like a charm.
Finally a Fix for your Wallpaper Re-sizing/Cropping.
1.Download: Wallpaper Wizardrii - Free on Android Market
2.Preferences: HD Image Size - Change to 1600
Image Compression - Change to 100% (actually equals 0 Compression)
3. Enjoy your full image.
For Fun turn off wallpaper scrolling when you set your Image and watch your Home Screen Fly!
I also use a feature in an app called Gallery Excluder that allows me to force a scan of all files at my leisure.
The purpose of the app is to exclude folders from the scan, but one feature is to force the scan of all folders. It works well.

I will have to try this one out too! It hasnt been 24hrs yet and Im already down to 10gbs left on my 32gb GTab! LOL Im loving every minute of it.
Now the next question is do I root it so I can tether it to my iPhone! Still searching the forums for an alternate solution but so far every app I downloaded doesnt even see my iphone as a wifi hotspot! LOL
just try QuickPic instead of the default gallery , it has all these features inbuilt.

iPhone 4 or 3GS?
I don't think the 3 can create and infrastructure hot spot, only ad-hoc which takes rooting to connect to. I could be wrong about that though as I'm not an Apple guy.
If you have a 4, TetherMe is an app that should allow you to create an infrastructure hotspot and your 10.1 will connect to it.
Or you can just get a Nexus S 4G like me with infrastructure mode out of the box...

Hey,
I'm looking for an app that can re-size and crop photos. It's a pretty basic requirement, but I've yet to find an app that can do both.
Am I missing something that this staring me in the face, or does such an app really not exist?

You could use Samsung photo editor
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17146726#post17146726
Or you can search the market with "resize image" - gives lots of results.
This doesn't show up in market. I assume I need to get the app through an alternate source?
Or does it only work with the galaxy?
Forgot to tell you that Samsung photo editor requires root in order to install. I've updated my post with a link.

Yes, I've tried a number of searches with many results. Unfortunately, very few of those results are actually useful. It seems the tablet is still a little behind when it comes to image software. Most of the results are toys and gimics.
Ideally, I was hoping for a simple crop/resize tool, and was very surprised to find so few applications that performed these two basic functions. I thought I might be missing something.
Guess I'll be waiting a bit.

I tried the free version. It didn't re-size or crop, from what I could tell. It seemed to just allow adding balloons and icons and stuff.
Are actual photo editing features included in the pro version?
Re size and crop is part of the pro. Sorry about that.

I have pic say.and image shrink.
currently im using QuickPic as my default pic browser..
i cant paste the link here as my post count is not enough yet.. so try to search it in market..
much much much better than stock pic browser..
you can easily arrange the filing and folder as you can copy, cut n paste pictures within the apps itself..
it also provides cropping for pictures if that is what you want..
try it.. to me its the best pic browser.. (and pic cropping tools)
Yeah, QuickPic is really nice - supports crop but not resize as requested from the op.
Hey all
I know quite a few people are unhappy about not seeing the People Widget on the new HTC 10, so I decided to extract the APK from my old M8 and installed it on the HTC 10.
For anyone else who is interested it getting the People Widget back, here is it.
It's been uploaded to my Google Drive, but if anyone can recommend a better place to upload it, I'll happily make it available for everyone.

I tried extracting the HTC Music app and successfully installed it onto the HTC10, but every time I launched it, it would crash.
That is the reason why I didn't upload the file here.
The Google Play app takes a bit of getting use to, and you have to really stay on top of your MP3 ID3 tags, but once you get use to it, it isn't so bad.
Only wish it had the ability to sort by folder, but the HTC Music app didn't have that ability either

Hi, i was wondering if someone had an apk of zte locker. I would like to have the app on other devices as i love the app.
Thanks in advance
I'm not sure that's gonna work.
If we grab an apk from the Axon 7 system we'll need it's libs too and the libs are probably optimized for the Axon7 and nothing else.
Sorry mate, but you probably won't be able to get it running on another device without some tweaking.
It's possible we could port ZTE Locker to a different ROM on the same device but even that could prove difficult.
I was looking for the same thing, but what I really want its just the wallpapers.... does anybody know from where the ZTE Locker gets the wallpapers?
Google Wallpapers has a feature where it'll refresh the wallpaper daily.

yes, but the wallpapers from the ZTE Locker app are way better (IMO)
Good chance I'll be diving into the ZTE locker apk to try and get some information on where the wallpapers come from, and with what encoding they're stored. I mean it has a way to save them so if I can reverse engineer that I could theoretically make a tool to download them all without even using ZTE Locker.
I think ZTE Locker is actually made by a different company, but I forget the name

Ah thanks!
Utoooo, that's what I was trying to think of. The package name is com.utooo.lockscreen something or other.
And thanks for the .uwp info.
Don't they have a way to manually save the wallpapers though? I imagine that just does a proper conversion to a more standard format, it was either PNG or JPEG, don't recall.
Hopefully I can get started on this tomorrow, but as for now I've a last-minute Valentine's day gift to worry about :/

When you mark a wall as Favourite it gets downloaded in JPEG format. Seriously, can anybody export and patch ZTE Locker to work on other phones?
Yeah I'm working on it. I find it doubtful I'll be able to totally port it over to another device. It's more likely I can find the source of the wallpapers and implement it into a different lockscreen

Poking around in my decompiled ZTE Locker, I've found 42 default wallpapers.
Some of them I've never actually seen in the rotation, which is curious. Others I've seen quite often. Doesn't seem like it's perfectly random.
And they actually misspelled the word "default" on two of them haha
I figured I'd upload them to AFH and link that here since I don't think this is worth a new thread. I suppose if someone thinks it is, you're welcome to start one.
In the meantime I'll keep looking into how they download the other wallpapers, besides these 42.

Found something very interesting:
From this web request "http://rms-deu.ztems.com/ZteLockScreenAPI/updateProgramList.json?model=ZTE%20A2017G&product=P996A04_N&device=ailsa_ii&brand=ZTE&version=7.0&userName=1234&screenSize=2560x1440&branch=TYPE_ABROAD&imei=<youremei>" you will recieve a json string. This json contains (if the request was successfull) a list of "resourceList" which contains some information about the pictures currently available like the url from where you can download the image.
I just created a small application which does exactly that and it is working perfectly fine.
This could be easily implemented into an Android app
Not sure though if permissions from ZTE would be required but I guess they are.

In Android 6 it had the option to download them and they'd be saved as regular jpgs. So if anyone knows the address of the server, which is no doubt somewhere in the app, we could just directly download the files. My phone was wiped during my upgrade to Android 7 and I lost all of the ones I had saved. In Android 7 it doesn't seem to be working at all anymore, it comes with 21 and it never updates for me no matter what I try, and unlike the Android 6 version before you can't just force it to refresh and get all them you want.
Edit: Just saw the post before mine.

+1 to this. It is a a nice replacement for the ZTE locker on RR. Now it doesn't change wallpapers every time you press the power button, but it's better than nothing. Sucks, though, I can't seem to hide sensitive notification content?
I have to say thanks to everyone in advance. I have looked at sites and posts about this question to no avail...at least it did not fix mine
My wallpaper is changing on it's own every hour or 2...at least. It changes to these wallpapers, and the wallpaper is SORT OF "black and white'ish" I have rebooted the phone. I have looked into the accessibility settings and saw nothing and in the display settings and saw nothing. I saw that it says something about possibly having set the wallpapers from the selection "on OnePlus" Well, I didn't. The box is unchcecked.
In addition, the wallpapers that mine are getting changed to are all getting changed to that material typpe. Not only that, but they are being changed in a way that makes them look sort of black and white, while staying color.
Any help short of a factory reset would be appreciated.

But yes definitely start with wallpaper apps, those can definitely be the problem. Also are you using a different launcher? I know Microsoft launcher has a feature where it changes the wallpaper every so often. Let me know and I'll be happy to help as much as I can!
I normally use Nova but not at the time. As far as the wallpaper apps go I realized a better way to go would be for me to open up each one of them and look at the settings so I could find out that way. and also I picked out the names of the titles that had material in it as in material walls since the images were of that type. Thanks again. (how is the Microsoft launcher? is it just basically a launcher that looks like Windows phone?)
These look like wallpapers by the Tapet app, there is an option in there to change the wallpaper every so many minutes, I would check to see if you have that installed.
NBH (and everyone) that was the solution
Thanks and Happy Holidays
