Hey guys, quick question about an annoying issue I ran into today. I went to check my email as usual, I went to put in my pin(required as per security settings in my office) only this time the keyboard was vibrating when I typed.
I use the stock sense keyboard so I went into settings for the keyboard and saw that the 'vibrate while typing' checkmark was checked off for some reason. Not a big deal I unchecked it. But it's still vibrating when I type I've tried switching keyboards back and forth but with no success. It continues to vibrate when I type in all programs.
Any ideas guys? I have a rooted DINC on Virtuous v3.1.0.
I haven't used sense in a while but I think I remember there being 2 different places to uncheck vibration. Maybe theres an advanced menu or something. Try pressing the menu button while you're in settings and see if there's more settings.
Settings>Sound Setting and untick Haptic Feedback....maybe thats the problem

I forgot to mention I tried that as well. That turned off the soft keys vibrate like it usually does, but the keyboard was still vibrating. Any other ideas?

Just got a TD 2. Really love it after using Eten M600 for years.
But, somethings got me stumped. Frequently the device vibrates for a few seconds without any connection to an obvious event. I've checked that the phone ringer is not set on vibrate. I also checked sound & notifications - theres no event that I can see set to vibrate. After it happens, I check the notifications - and there is no event listed there.
So what is causing this to happen?

does it vibrate when u touch the dispaly?
No, just vibrates for no apparent reason.
No calls or events or notifications.
There must be a cause - I just cannot think what it could be.

Hello,
I recently received my Nexus and there is one issue that is rather annoying for me.
I cannot turn off the haptic feedback by unchecking it in settings. All that checkbox does is stop it on the four buttons on the bottom of the phone, I still have haptic feedback on the dialer and the lock screen.
I tried to download the spare parts app, and I've even tried a factory reset.
I find this feature really annoying and I am out of ideas on what to do..
Any help?

It's not on. I still get vibration on dialer and lockscreen.
Sorry for bumping this but am I the only one with this problem?
Could it be an hardware issue so I should send it back before I install cynogen and void my warranty.
You can't turn off vibration on dialer. There isn't an option to do that . Google plz work on this.

Nope that just removed the sound and not the vibration.
I got the same issue. It seems that it is unfixable, unless they release un update with this issue fixed
To disable haptic feedback in the dialer: open up the dialer, press menu button, uncheck 'Enable haptic feedback'.
But I don't know how to disable it on the lockscreen tho :/
There is no menu on the dialler, hitting the menu button doesn't do anything.
Maybe He has a custom ROM.
Ah yes, good point.
I have CM5.0.4.1, I can see that it's credited to "ChainsDD, geesun, niuchl, rac2030 and the rest of XDA! " so, yeah it's probably cuz of the custom ROM.
I didn't realize that
Yeah, its actually Wysies Contacts app that has the option. But unless you root, you can't use it
The thing you are talking about might not be haptic feedback at all
Hi, I had the same problem after I forgot where the menu setting was. (Actually I did a factory reset yesterday.)
To turn off haptic feedback,
Go to Settings > Sounds and Display > Haptic Feedback. Uncheck it.
To turn off vibrate on kepress while typing SMS and others,
Go to Settings > Language and Keyboard > touch Input > Text Input > Vibrate When Typing and uncheck it.
Did not understand why they are at two different places as it confuses me and many. Though, thats the way it is. . Enjoy.
What the hell is the point of haptic feedback? One of the worst invention on this phone. Should simply be a "Turn off all Haptic Feeback"
or better yet.. adb shell rm hapticfeedback.apk
I am having a similar yet opposite problem: I cannot turn on haptic feedback.
This is a N1 I just got from HTC as a warranty replacement. (My first one had a dead spot on the touch screen.) It certainly has a working vibrator - When I turn in the phone and see the logo, also when I turn the phone off, it gives me the haptic buzz. I've had the same result in both stock builds and CM6.
I'm wondering if there is a disconnect in some phones where checking the box just does nothing to change the actual setting.
Any ideas?
I had to turn off Kickback in Accessibility settings.
Do you by any chance just mean the haptic feedback when using the keyboard? Cause there's a separate setting for that, under Language & Keyboard > Touch Input > Text Input > Vibrate when typing.
I would like to turn off the haptic feedback in the lockscreen, but I want to keep the haptic for softkeys. Is it possible without installing a lockscreen replacement?
SOLVED (sounds & notifications settings)
Before when notifications (and most importantly the alarm) went off I am 99 % sure I used to get the popup menu at the bottom of the lock screen with options to either dismiss or pause the alarm. Lately this option on lock screen has now disappeared. Now when the alarm wakes me in the morning I have to unlock the phone, tap the notifications bar on top of the screen to get to the notifications menu and tap the alarm to get to the pop up menu for the chosen notification. If you just want to snooze the alarm, you'll be wide awake by the end of this series of touches.
Do people get the notification popup menu on their lock screens? I sure would like to get this back. Anyone?
PS: I think that this was OK on several occations between my last program install (I think this was updating the cookies home tab to 1.6) and when I first noticed the problem, but I can't really swear on it.
PS2: I have searched to find a thread with this issue, but have just found slightly relating topics (ie in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612775&highlight=notification+lock it seems a guy had to unlock to dismiss but I'm not sure if that was due to password lock. And I did try the "Clean notifications" with pmClean as suggested by post #6. I'm not really sure if this worked though, because it says that the number of notifications are 19 both before and after I apply the cleanup. Does this mean the program doesn't work?)
do you have bsb tweaks installeD? Turn on 'dismiss x notifications' tweak. That reenables the snooze and what not,
also,
settings tab - menu - all settings - sounds & notific - notifications.
call up teh notification you are interested in (new message, for example) and tick 'show on screen'.
Give those a try, see if they help. (Soft reset to make sure teh settings are changed.)
Thanks so much. It was the sounds & notifications settings that did it.
Feeling kind of silly now that it was just a simple setting . But I'm pretty sure I haven't changed it myself so I guess I just assumed it would be something more severe.
Anyhow. PROBLEM SOLVED.
Problem solved! I also forgot that I had already done this before I did a hard reset! Thanks for this post though!
Hi Guys,
I have got the same problem (no dismiss showing up in lock screen), but there is no option for alarms in the Notification Settings. How did you solve it in the end?
Cheers
Hey Guys,
So I've been absolutely loving my htc incredible thus far. However, just recently I wanted to have my phone only vibrate for SMS notifications when I realized it wasn't vibrating at all.
I've been through all the settings of Messaging > Settings > check vibrate and such. Also going to sounds and display > only to find nothing really for vibrate and nothing helped in there. I also have tried turning down to vibrate only and ALSO selecting vibrate mode from holding the power button. BUT NOTHING IS WORKING! I've searched on google and through here and haven't found anything but some fixes for the moto droid with third party apps. I'm thinking this is an android bug.
Any takers? Thanks.
I FOUND THE FIX.
It requires the third party app HOWEVER you don't need to keep it.
Go to the market and download an app called "Sound Manager" by Daniel Roozen.
Once downloaded, launch the app, press menu, go to vibrate settings and there should be two options.
BOTH should be onto vibrate whenever possible. The bottom one was set to don't vibrate and was most likely set by another app I had previously downloaded.
My phone now vibrates when it should be.

You're welcome! I think it's a bug via the software. Please spread the fix! It's helped a lot of people over at android central.

Hey I am new to these forums and the CM7 ROM for the shift. I put it on last night and I am having some trouble with the notification settings. On the stock sense ROM I was able to set my notifications to vibrate when I got one, mainly a text message. On the CM7 ROM for notifications I can only put it to "no noise" at all or a ringtone, like a beep. I would like to have a vibrate option but I cannot seem to find one. I appreciate all the help. Let me know if you need any more information, thanks.
try this: go into settings then sound setting, then under general tap on vibrate and set it to always..
or u can open up ur messages then hit menu and then settings the scroll down to notifications make sure notifications are checked then go to notification settings and tap vibrate and set it to always

That worked! Thank you, I didnt even think about going about it that way.
I had this problem too...
Go to Settings>CyanogenMod Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget
Now check "Notification Power Widget" and then go into widget buttons.
Pick whatever tickles your fancy, but make sure toggle sound is on. You can also change the types of sound in the bottom "Sound Modes" Category and you caan change the order if you hit "Back" then "Widget Button Order".
Now reboot your device and when it turns back on, slide down the notification bar and at the top there should be a toggle which looks like Vibrate/Sound/Silent and that's how you change the sound!
I am also having this issue. i have no vibrate on any text messaging or even gmail .
I have the newest cm7, have tried turning vibrate on where ever i could. Wiped and re flashed but have the same problem .
phone will only vibrate on call and when i change from silent to vibrate.
