Hello everybody,
I'm currently thinking about to import the Pro to Germany. But the phone is only available at Verizon. Those phones are locked. If I am right, the lock is for SIM cards, because Verizon operates w/o SIM cards, correct?! I found some unlock companies over the net, but noone is able to unlock the Pro from Verizon.
How is the lock removalble? This is not software based, so that rooting the phone and flashing a custom ROM will not help?! Only the method by entering the correct code?! So I have to check for unlocked phones, which are really expensive... Or is that SIM lock only for US Networks and in Germany it would work?!
Thanks for help.
You simply call Verizon and tell them you're going to spend some extended time in Europe and you want the ability to unlock the phone and change out the SIM card so you can use the phone as a local phone without all the charges, etc. They'll then tell you that you won't have the Verizon guarantee of service, etc., if you remove the SIM card while overseas. But the cost savings is definitely worth it.
Interestingly, I didn't actually "unlock" my phone as I've done with Blackberries in the past. They gave me a code to use when and if I ever insert a foreign SIM card in the phone. At that time, it will prompt me for the unlock code.
I've been using mine for 2 weeks now in Portugal, I bought it on eBay and I believe that the seller got the code straight from Verizon. No issues so far, although the coverage is poor IMO. Other than that, I wish the battery could last a bit longer, but I'm already used to having to charge it every night.
I am living in Germany and would like to import this phone too, but I dont know where to buy it? I dont want to buy anything on eBay!
Thanks in advance
i have my droid pro since 5 days. From ebay.com

Unlocking / subsidy code
Yes, please let us know where you got the unlock code. I'll buy you a beer next time I'm in Munich

What is the process for entering the unlock code? Do I need a non-Verizon SIM card in there?

I personally recommend this guy SwiftUnlock for your Motorola Droid Pro. He got me the unlock code in no time. Now everything is working perfectly on my Motorola Droid Pro. Using it in Mumbai, India on GSM + EDGE

I wish! No, I'm getting a Pro off eBay and the seller has already mailed me what he claims is the unlock code. I wanted to make sure he did not just send me a bogus number.
Using it on Sprint network in the US?
I have been desperately wanting to get my hands on an android based physical keyboard candy bar phone for a long time. I finally found this amazing phone and am wondering if this can be used with sprint in the US. I am not willing to change carriers and if that is the case I will just have to wait for another one of the same type to be available on sprint. Sad is the case! Please let me know if using this phone on sprint is possible.
Thanks

There is much cheaper solution than recently released online unlockers. Buy one of the universal SIM unlock modules off ebay - works like a charm. I have couple of here which are much older than LG iQ, sure enough it is not on the supported list but they bypass the sim lock just fine. They cost like 5 bucks shipped and fit fine in the sim slot. Sure enough you have to manually configure all data settings for the operator you will be using as well as disable proxy or many things won't work.
Tested and confirmed working on my own LG iQ

Well, most people own one phone and I doubt you can get the box for 3 bucks.
Don't know about AT&T, but up here in the great white north no carrier will ever give you unlock codes, no matter what.
I found a vendor that unlocks Telus LG IQ in GTA. They are located in Pacific Mall unit A22. GOSU mobile solutions. I think they use the octopusbox to unlock the phone.
It takes about 30 minutes while you wait. I had mine unlocked today. I am now using it with Rogers sim. It's a little expensive than the unlock code solution(I haven't found one that worked for LG IQ yet) but for me it was worthwhile. Cost: $25

I am in Australia, bought the AT&T version of this phone from eBay. It was locked. Call AT&T wireless international customer service, told him I bought this phone off someone, and the staff gave me the unlocked code immediately (well, it took him a while to figure it out) with no questions asked.
I've got a Motorola Flipout locked to Orange UK. I tried everything to get it unlocked but without success. I tried several unlock code services but their codes all didn't work. Then I bought a X-SIM IV unlock sim-card which is placed between the sim-card and the phone. The phone then didn't ask for an unlock code but I could not register anymore into the network.
Is there any other solution to unlock the phone? Maybe there is a software solution like for the Samsung Galaxy S?

I searched around some for you, and all I found was sites where you'd have to pay about $10 to get a code... not sure if there is any other way right now
I've tried two companies who've both given me the same unlock codes which don't work!! not good! Will report back if I find a solution.

Glad you posted this, I'm thinking about getting the flipout from orange uk but I want to use my t mobile sim. What have orange said about an unlock code for it?
Orange wants you to be a customer for at least 3 month to get an unlock code from them (see help.orange.co.uk/orangeuk/support/personal/474187).

Wow. 3 months is a long wait. I might have to consider buying a sim free handset.
The unlock code companies on the internet usually get a new database on a regular basis (not sure how regular) to accommodate new handsets it could be worth emailing them to see when a working code may be available.

i have tried many places and none of them were able to provide unlock code for AT&T's X10a. but my last hope (the code) came in today and unlocked my X10a right away. am i the first one who has unlocked AT&T's version by code instead of cable?
edit: 12/18/2010
hi, guys
in order to get unlock code i need correct info to be filled out as a note/message, when you make payment at paypal.
please do not PM me with any info, it is very easy to lost track of PMs you are welcome to notify me about your donation though.
1. IMEI and S/N (serial number) under your battery
2. exact model and which network your phone is locked to
3. your XDA ID (to notify you when your code is ready)
4. i can only send code to paypal verified email address, the one when you register/make payment with paypal.
please note, it takes 7-10 days to get code.
thanks
Can you provide more info and/or explain more, thanks.

X10 Unlock
From my side.. it's three weeks that I'm trying to unlock this damn piece of cell phone, but no way.
At first I was quite confident wit cellunlockers.net, but after 10 days they refund my money saying -no way-.
Then I tried mobileincanada.com who where really very fast, they refunded my money after only 40 minutes
Last try with unlocking.com, after 10 days they were still looking for excuses, they did not find any code (on their web site they promise a next day solution!) so I asked for a refund, that they did not want to give me !!!
I opened a debate on paypal and after a couple of days I had my money back, but the cell phone is still locked..
So if anyone has a solution, please help ! AT&T supplies the unlock sequence (for free) only after 90 days from the purchase....
I too am having no luck with my X10 from AT&T so if theres not development I am going to go ahead and sell the phone....
Update: Got it Unlocked from Cellunlocker.net (Cable method)....

Agreed. I have tried to get the unlock code for my AT&T X10a for 2 months with no success. Gave Lancez my S/N and IMEI and 10 days later received my unlock code as a PM. Inserted a different SIM card in my phone, entered the code and VOLA..! The phone was network unlocked! No pain, no hassle.

I've exhausted my research capabilities, including going to some 'less-desireable' websites known for their subversive abilities. I downloaded software capable of unlocking phones (probably 5 or 6 different ones), plus ADK Software to see if could could root through the sys files of the phone as if I was in regedit of my PC. Nothing, nada, zip, nathan, zero. I am going to give it to my friend with a VZW account and let them hook it up to her account. Then she can get the sim unlock from VZW and give the DP back to me.
I emailed these guys on ebay and other sites selling unlock codes for the DP but they can't gaurantee anything and no refund without video proof of their code not working. Too much of a hassle. I also found some codes (96853318 or 21289318) that they sold to someone, but they didn't work for me. Maybe they will for you.
I bought a T-Mobile Sim and a AT&T sim because they both operate on different frequencies and I want to make sure I have 3G if I use this phone at all. Tonight, I am going to root/rom my new AT&T Fusion with CM7.2 and use this until I get the DP back from my friend.
Other than that, I am going to apply for a NYS Pistol Permit. Just in case this DP cant be used as a phone, I can use it for target practice. Lmao.
Any luck on your end - please let me know. I have 2 DP's so if you figure something out, I still have another to play with.

Verizon has unlock codes for these devices that were manufactured in a certain time period that are not available on the Motorola server. That is why some are working and some are not. The unlockers all retrieve there codes from the same database so you will get the same results from any company our there,.
There allegedly is a person in China who figured out how to unlock these units at a certain point last year but the source and method was never revealed. Being that these units have dropped so much in price and availability they may not want to devote there time by sharing there solution with us although i'm sure a lot of us will make it worth there while..
The Atrix had a similar issue which was solved by flashing the radio a few times. I was hoping that there would have been a way to have this done on the D2G or DP as well.
The D2G and DP will both work on AT&T's 3G network while operating on EDGE 2G for TMO.
I like the old fashion method of placing the unit under my rear tire and putting the car in reverse. It's more cost effective and will save you bullets!

Currently using the AT&T variant with Cricket. The Cricket service is TERRIBLE in my area. But Metro/TMo is strong. Got the phone through a trade and it seems there's a balance from the previous owner so AT&T DOESN'T want to unlock it through their unlock site. Any word on legit unlocking services? Like, put in the IMEI and pay $25 or so for an unlock code when I slap a Metro PCS sim into the phone? There's cellunlocker and unlockradar etc but just curious who has experience with a legit unlocking service online? Thanks.
Thanks for the link! I found one on eBay for $13 that worked like a charm! Back on metro and back in business. Thanks again.
Soooooo much better.
I know it's late, but I bought a second hand S8 AT&T that was also with a debt (previous owner didn't mention it on the listing) and doctorsim.com managed to unlock it anyways

Like, put in the IMEI and pay $25 or so for an unlock code when I slap a Metro PCS sim into the phone? There's cellunlocker and unlockradar etc but just curious who has experience with a legit unlocking service online? Thanks.

I used Unlock Radar and It took 2 days to get my Unlock code.

Just spent 22$ and worth it. Got the code, inserted the code when the phone asked for it, and that's all. My phone is now unlocked. Found this article on google about how to do it myself:
