Android weather app - Android Software Development

Hi guys. Hope I'm posting this in the correct place.
I came from Blackberry recently and did alot of alpha testing for Bellshare, developer of Berryweather and other apps. Berryweather is by far the best weather app for Blackberry bar none. I have looked at every Android weather app I can find and there are none that come close to Berryweather. I'm trying to talk the dev into making an Android weather app equivalent to Berryweather but don't think he'll do it.
I think there is a great opportunity for an Android developer to make a really nice functional weather app. Any takers?

No interest huh? That sucks.

I came from Berry Weather and there are alot of weather apps that stack up.
Palmary Pro
Weatherbug Elite
Beautiful Widgets
The Weather Channel
What are you looking for that you dont see in android apps?

I've tried those and although they're decent apps they don't have alot of features Berryweather has.
Im used to many nice custom maps. Up to 10 locations. Customizable notifications with popup integration. Probably more I haven't thought of.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

I'm in the same boat. I purchased 3 weather apps for my android phone and none of them will reliably follow my location like berry weather did. Now don't get me wrong they advertise that their app will do it, it just doesn't. I will second porting berry weather to android. Would pay if someone took it on.

The guy who made all of the custom maps for Berryweather has moved to android so he's game. Just need someone to develop the app.

Samsung Widgets on Launcher Pro?

Any way to get Facebook updates widget on Launcher Pro?
Is there a good news widget? For news from like, engadget and gizmodo, etc.
There has to be some way to do this... I'm trying to find an alternative to the Facebook status streaming widget but I can't find a good one... I'm currently using Socialite from the LG Ally but it's not too good... Friend Stream would be nice. Or the Samsung one.

I'd like to know the same.
This question had been asked many times...the search function works miracles if you ever decide to use it. But to answer your question, no you cannot out the samsung widgets with any other launcher other than the tw launcher. I also don't think there's no way around this.

This has been asked several times. No you can't use TW Widgets on LP. What's wrong with the widget that comes with the Facebook app? Or you can use Pure Messenger widget.

Why not?
I use T-Mobile's Social Buzz app. It doesn't have a widget but the app is fast and works great. That might be something you would want to look in to.

Launcher Pro Plus has Friends widget,Facebook widget, messaging! Widgets and many more. That's what I'm using right now!
Killing Zombies with my Voodoo Vibrant!
The problem with LauncherPro is that it cannot use the TouchWiz Widgets. LauncherPro doesn't have enough Widgets itself to be useful to me (not saying it's useless to anyone else).
Plus the paid version can't be put in the market and probably wouldn't have carrier billing available for it.
But like I said, the Samsung Widget provides the same function of those others.

(Hint) Touchwhiz Launcher

I don't know if anyone has posted this but I found a little trick that made me say "well duh that makes sense."
So I actually like the touchehiz launcher but was having a tough time keeping my apps straight with the new 2.3.3 version as it only allows an editable grid or alphabetical list. I tried adding an old modded version but got a force close. When I restored all my apps were alphabetical in a grid view again. I went about moving the apps around and then went to settings/application/all and cleared the data of TWLauncher and my apps are again alphabetical.
The downfall of doing this is you lose your Widgets but after awhile its the easiest way to clean up the app drawer.

Dude I know a lot of new people here will be delighted to know that but that has been known since anyone posted about wanting to rearrange apps in apps drawer. Nice though that you have the courage to post it again.
Well I may have just forgotten since I've become so accustomed to the modded tw launcher and know that we don't yet have a modded version for GB. I'm sure there is more than one or two frustrated trying to keep all their apps in order right now.

Go dig yourself a hole under that ungrateful bridge of yours.
Well know one, but the best method is download an app in market which can sort the Twlauncher in alphabetical order without cleaning the widget together.

Sense based customizable (adw-launcher pro) launcher

Pretty much I'm asking. Is there a launcher that is like adw and launcher pro but is compatible with sense widgets.
I've been looking but not finding.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There isn't one. Sense, including the widgets, is proprietary to HTC and they are very quick to sue when it comes to their property. There are some skins available that make use of the google apps, calendar and music, that work well with LauncherPro. I've used Pure Music Widget by francois Deslanders and it has a nice transparent 4x4 widget.
Sad face...
Hmm I see the issue. No one would wanna do that work for free. Thx for quick response.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I've seen and tried some of the things you pointed out. But I guess I'm really just trying to make use of my sense rom. I'm using launcher pro and I love it but not being able to you the weather widget has always bugged me.

Beautiful Widgets has almost the exact same weather/clock widget as HTC, plus hundred of others to choose from. Only problem I ever had with it is it gets my location wrong sometimes.
Thx I've looked into beautiful widgets but I'm talking about the full screen weather widget the one with the forcast.
The reason I was asking was mainly because of the resizing of widgets in these launchers.

Yeah it only has a 4x1 weather widget which kind of sucks. Launcher Pro does allow resizing but it just keeps the same 4x1 widget and enlarges it to about 4x2 and it doesn't look good.
Cool so I just got done trying out the go weather app. Its not bad but I only really like it because of the live wallpaper.
But for that same reason It's not what I'm looking for. I do appreciate the idea. Oh well still looking.
I guess what I'm really looking for is that sense 4x4 forcast widget on one of my launcher pro screens. (I know not possible lol)

Some help filling up the Nexus screens?

Hi guys,
First, I'm a developer who spends a lot of time with his nose into terminal windows and editors... so please forgive me if I'm used to the "boring" stuff. I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions what widgets should I use to fill few of the tablet screens. So far, the main apps I use on the tablet are the Terminal (go figure) to manage my Linux boxes and my 3 Google Apps accounts (drive, mail, etc.)
I looked on the internet at those "popular widgets" postings and they all show crappy stuff like Google Play, Beautiful Widgets, Facebook etc. With no disrespect, they are useless to me. I'm looking more into "geek" factor, like some nice tablet memory/kernel stats and other cool widgets I could make use of. I know is hard what I ask but I'm looking for input from tech people who use the tablet to manage mostly Linux related stuff, not just the Google Play library.
It sucks to have all those screens empty, thank you for your help.
Floren
You could actually design a fancy-nothing widget by yourself that could show random stuff, like stats, load, cool pictures, links to websites, etc, periodically. Resizable, and repicable. That would be nice.

I don't write Android apps. I did wrote from scratch the XDA search you use it every day and helped the guys to optimize their servers, so you can post your content easier. Thanks for the nice insults.
Yea wth?
Anyway. I suggest Android Pro Widgets. Its free but I recommend buying it for themeing ablilities. They are scrollable Widgets for Facebook, twitter, calendar, favorites, etc. I have a page dedicated to these alone. I like my main homescreen very minimalistic.
Outside of that I use some sort of weather widget. I don't listen to music often and my status bar has toggles. Not sure what else you would need.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Could try minimalistic text and create your own text widgets showing stats of the tablet.
Does anyone got any good music widgets?
Battery Monitor Widget Pro and System Tuner Pro have some decent geeky widgets. Not great though. I'd like to find some more too.

Don't worry about responses like that one. They are a dime a dozen and provide nothing to these forums/communities. Best to ignore nay sayers...
Some suggestions for widgets would definitely be a weather widget, gmail/email widget, play music widget. Just to name a few a lot of it is personal preference from what I see...

You beat me too it. Elixr2 is good. I used to use it on my gtablet while testing roms. It was really helpful
I'm sorry if you understood my comment as an insult. I was actually giving a nice idea. I have developed some apps for diferrent purposes, and I found your post interesting - some widgets to beautify your screens. I could simply not mention any idea, but you know, I like brainstorming.

I made a widget once for a friend that showed either his stats or his teams stats from World Community Grid, but it only seems to work on 2.1 and I'm not a Dev....no idea how to fix it. LOL

I strongly recommend Elixir Widgets 2. Highly customizable, lots of options (more than any other), sips battery and CPU.
Here is my main 'reporting' page.
Also I reduced to 3 home screens... psychological reduction in empty space.
