Patch from the fascinate
See this from the XDA portal this morning. It might put you on a path to fixing this issue.

Damn you beat me to it.
Going to try it out when I leave for school this afternoon, but if this is indeed true, I will be beyond furious. The navigation mount's BOX says that when FroYo is released for the Epic, the audio jack will become functional. WTF

I just tried the car_cradle_patch.zip on my phone using CWM, and it put the phone into super slow motion mode when I restarted. I can't do anything, it takes MINUTES for anything to respond. Looks like I'll have to be wiping my phone again.
tw_car_dock.zip added a "car cradle" application, but the music player didn't play out of the line out on the car or desktop docks.
It was built for the Fascinate. Someone would probably have to mod their mod to get it working correctly on the Epic. Try putting a request out there and see if any devs bite. Might take a few days for someone to get to it because I am sure they are working on updating ROMs, etc.
I pulled apart the original and the modded version that were posted and there is literally one line different between the two (assuming I did it right, and I think I did). If it isn't working properly on our phones it's likely something to do with difference between our phone and the Fascinate/standard Galaxy S. Might help if we can get a logcat dump from the phone while the app is doing it's thing.

Sound like it is as simple as changing the audio channel its using. Maybe there is one not listed in the UI that is the usb audio out?
Audio is working with the fascinate mod.
I used cwm earlier today.Just make sure to place the zip in the root of your micro sd card and boot into cwm then select and flash. It is working perfectly with no force quits or lag after a reboot. Are you using the aosp music player patch or samsung music player patch? He has 2 different versions up. The aosp music player patch is the one i was able to use with no errors or lag.If you are using the samsung music player patch that will not work.
So I bought two docks home and car that said it would work with 2.2
Big surprise.......it doesn't. Awesome samsung.
I just spent 2 days dishwasher shopping. spent 800 bucks. guess who was off my list before I even LOOKED at them! That's right, samsung, you didn't even get on the list to start for reasons exactly like this.
Bump for y'all to see rpro95's post.
@ J3ff, if you have nothing constructive to say just hold off on posting as it looks like there are a couple of people in here who are willing to try and get this working or help the Epic users get it working/troubleshoot. I think most people in here are tired of the anti-samsung semantics.
I do not have the dock, but I am just trying to be helpful in this thread by tossing ideas out there. It seems like this is something that, in time, the community should be able to get working.
car dock AOSP audio out fix for music only.
This might work on the home dock as well.test it. I don't have a home dock.I know it works for my car dock.
If you need to have your tunes playing from your car dock do this.It will not work for third party apps.Only for the AOSP music player. You will get a prompt when you dock.Just select and you will get screen showing your dock icons for
phone:Music:Maps and voice search.
1. Need to have cwm to flash this.
2.download the patch from here on xda developers Adrynaylyne mod thread for the fascinate. http://adrynalyne.us/files/patches/car_cradle_patch.zip
3. Put on your SD card. I put mine in root. This worked for me.
4.Boot into cwm. Select zip and enjoy music on your epic through your cars speakers. This might work on the home dock as well.test it. I don't have a home dock.
Here is the solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966588

I have Google Beta working and syncing to device outside of US....Heres how I did it.
Sign up for beta using a proxy server (I used http://hidemyass.com/)
Use "Market enabler" to fake a US provider to download music beta
then follow directions for music beta and away you go
confirmed working in canada.
do you have to always run Market Enabler every time you use music beta?

you shouldn't have to once you set fake on boot, but to be honest i havent reboot my phone since stumbling upon this...
The only time you "need" to run market enabler is to install the app, I just tested it when rebooting after a rom install
I faked my ip using zend2.com and then used MarketEnabler to download the Music app. And after that, Music Beta runs seamlessly on my phone. I'm in Vietnam, but I don't experience significant lag (just about 1-2 secs at the beginning at a song) with the service.
In fact, I came to love this service so much. I'm impressed that it's working well in a remote country to US like Vietnam lol
i can only ask an invitation, now is up to google, i guess...

I'm in Canada as well and had an update notification through my market. When you clicked to update it would time out by saying "not found". However you can update by long pressing the app and selecting update.
Now I'm simply waiting for my invite.

I submitted my invite request a couple weeks ago using the suggestion in the OP, but I haven't heard anything yet. Hopefully soon!
Confirmed Works in New Zealand.
Worked for me but I stopped using it, it really drains the battery to have that service running all the time.
Thought some of you interested in NFC might like to see some cool tags.
Thanks for that, I didn't know about the pro mode, good video!
I have a selection of tags and I've been testing them out with various ideas. I've decided that a good idea is to tag some of my items with a URL to a contact information page as a kind of identifier. All my stuff is registered with immobolise.com anyway so hopefully it would find it's way back to me.
Another useful tool I've found is Touchanote which links a tag to Evernote so that you can go straight to a particular note. I stuck the tag in my notebook on the back so that when I'm in a meeting and there's stuff to do, it will take me straight to my to-do list.
I also stuck one on the inside cover so that again when I'm in a meeting, I just pop my phone on top of it, and it will silence all sounds.
My biggest issue with them at the moment is the price. To get some really elegant task switching, I would need bigger capacity tags, and they are a lot more expensive than the readily available ntag203 types.
I know that I could use re-tag to repurpose existing tags with NFC, or use tasked, but there are some uses where I think it would be good to have some workflows which weren't specific to my phone alone.
thanxx

Thanks Ye Tasker is a mind masher at times, you could also try NFC Task Launcher which does most of the every day tasks but a bit less brain F**K.
Ye RapidNFC are rapid with delivery as well, I hate waiting for stuff so next day service that actually happens is great.
For some reason, I am not able to see the video. I have been doing alot of reading on NFC today. Does anyone know if its possible to make them work NEAR the phone? Meaning if the phone is near the NFC chip, do this, if not, do this?
I would like to use something like this to emulate the "holster mode" for blackberrry

This video may help, show the scanning distance for NFC on Android devices, should be about the same across most handsets.
Awesome. So what are the chances I could make this work to change my phone profile? Say I put a sticker on the holster. Slide it in... it scans. will it continue to scan as I walk around? Or would it only scan again when I remove the phone? (scanning on insert and remove is what I want obviously)
So far so good, it seems to be more slick feeling than my 900. The weight feels relatively close so anyone that has had a 900 won't feel a difference. So far so good I haven't set it up yet because I need to sync my music on my work PC right quick.
Differences
The Black Color is very slick in hand compared to others.

Interesting Android smartwatch here. It can actually be used as a standalone phone, bands are GSM/GPRS Quad Band:GSM 850/900/DCS 1800/PCS 1900 MHZ (can this be used on AT&T?).
What I'm not seeing is if it can be used as a dialer for your phone, so you can just leave it in your pocket and make and receive calls like the Gear.
What do you guys think? I'm tempted to get it just to play around with.

Feature phone software, bleh.
Although I guess for 100 bucks you can't expect it to run Android.
Edit: Hmm, just noticed no where does it say there's a speaker built in...guess you have to use a headset to use it as a phone.
Also only compatible with Android 2.3-4.0. Doesn't say it works with newer.

Strange, I was also surprised by that 4.0 rather then 4.x reference. And I think you are right about headphone 3.5mm jack as the only way to listen to the music. Would have been great if they would include a camera in there.

Haha, first thing that crossed my mind when i saw it.
Dunno why but personally i find most smart watches just tend to look either dull, or just plain awful. Maybe it's because of the space they have to work with? Dunno :/
You guys realize it's a phone? It might be nice to have as a backup phone, or if I just want a tiny phone. It doesn't run apps, but I never had much use for apps on a 1.5" screen.
It's interesting, I may grab one just to play around with. It seems to have AT&T bands. I don't plan on using it like a watch though, it's too ugly like that. I'd just stick it in my pocket or clip it on.

Built in mic allows you to answer on your wrist and be like I'll call you back it also has Bluetooth audio out and wireless headset support. Weird thing is contacts and messages won't work without a sim has to have one active or not I'm on Verizon so its pointless to try lucky I had art laying around and it vibrates!!
