Custom-ROM based on Wildfire-ROM possible? - Click General

Froyo is now officially released for the Wildfire: LINK
As far as i know the hardware of the Tatto and the Wildfire is very similar. Is it possible to make the Wildfire-ROM running on the Tattoo? Fully functional?

Maybe this rom:

Dexter has already created a ROM based on the Wildfire's Froyo. Most of the things work but Camera and FM doesn't work. Also there are some other bugs.

They have not released an android 2.0 OTA update for the magic yet. However, there are modded ROMS that will give you a similar look and feel, but they can still be buggy since the appropriate drivers have not been released yet.

That's a good one to check out.

desire 2.1 vs magic 2.1

Hello,
I just rooted my htc magic to mod 5.0.7. eclair.
Now i have a desire using the same firmare but it's looking completle different.
am i missing someting or is this normal.
i would like to have the same clock/weather, calender, email widget as the desire.
is this even possible?
after searching i now know i'm missing sense.
So the next question. Can please someone tell me what firmware i should take? I would like to have sense working on a 32b magic.
Ther are a lot off firmwares but all are missing some parts. Is there a firmware that is just stable?
You need to root it and install a Sense ROM, which you will find in the G1 development section. However the ROMs aren't really fast enough for it to be worth it
The most stable sense ROM is cursordroid running on 1.5. If you want a 2.1 sense, I am not sure what I can offer you. As to why CM Rom is different from the Rom of HTC, CM is AOSP aka Open-Sourced and HTC Sense is Closed Sourced. So technically you can't load closed sourced progs into open-sourced.

[Q] Froyo 2.2.1 for the Magic released

Froyo 2.2.1 for the HTC Magic has been released by Vodafone UK. Does this mean we may yet get it for the Hero?

I assume you are under the (false) impression that HTC Magic has sense in their official release....
(Am I wrong that it doesn't?!)

I realise this, I was mereley pointing out that support is still there from the carriers for older models with HTC. From a development point, this support can only help and assist developers in using the lates official drivers, frameworks etc.. to adapt and tweak.
actually htc magic will recieve 2.2.1 in the UK, just google it.. (offical from vodafone that is)
HTC Magic is just plain old vanilla Android.
Well , HTC Magic received and 2.1 Sense official rom , may be that will be the case again.
To quote the Vodafone post on it:
'... improved support for Active Sync Exchange (email, contacts and calendar sync)'
That to me says it is vanilla FroYo.
I agree that it does look like vanilla Froyo, but I was merely stating that it is good news that the Magic is still being supported and updated to newer firmware etc. This can only be good news to other handesets such as our Hero's. After all, any new firmware will only enable developers to get their hands on the latest drivers, frameworks etc...
I wonder what kernel version it is running?
Would be nice to one day salvage enough driver code to get .34 or beyond running on our phones!
Hmmm... Interesting, though not that likely to help in terms of drivers IMHO, given we've got CM properly compiling for hero.
Kernel sources, now that's another matter
Bet this will annoy stock hero users, that an older device will get 2.2 and they won't (officially). Time to head over to XDA for them perhaps?
All I will say is don't get your hopes up at a .34 kernel. It might, but bear in mind that gingerbread runs on .29 on the emulator, so it could be a .29 one again...
Y HTC Magic can get 2.2.1 update and Hero don't?

I assume because HTC Magic does not have Sense.
yeah, I think the vodafone htc magic never had sense (the unbranded ones got sense in the 1.6 and 2.1 versions)
isn't there a chance that you can port this camera driver to hero with Sense? I mean both phones had almost the same hardware..
also I heard from another forum that the 2.2.1 update for Magic has 2.6.32 kernel..
will that help?

None of this is new, the Magic has had a senseless 2.2 (I assume 2.2.1) update from TMO with a .32 kernel for quite some time now. For now, none have succeed porting its camera to the Sense 2.2 - even the magic Sense 2.2 ROM (which is based on the gratia and legend ports) has the exact same problems like we do.....

I've tried different android versions...
the 2.1 eclair is allright... the 2.2 froyo is ok... but the 2.1 sense build for blackstone is much better!
The 2.1 sense build you can compare that to the android for htc desire.
I recommend to check that out! You think 2.2 would be much better...
But that version of android is not fully operational. (I think they are working to get it fully operational)
With the 2.1 sense build you can do more stuff.. With wifi working and all... android market working..
So for me the choise is very easy to make...
thx for your answer
just another question : what is the difference betwee this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=621498 and this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892181 ???
start reading
and you wil find out..

Thanks for your advise.
Where can I get 2.1 sense build for blackstone?
Android 2.2 works... It depends on if you want Sense or not. If you want a newer Android, choose 2.2. If you want Sense you have to choose 2.1.
However, it might change really soon. See this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10510668&postcount=263
If things works or not, depends more on your choice of kernel (which is under constant development and thus changes).

Ive been waiting on a sense rom for a while now but to be honest i don't think there for everyday use at the moment... what id suggest ye do is what i done, get Typhoon rom (Located in my signature) and get the CM7 sense theme (also located in my signature) which has the same layout, keyboard, settings etc
you wont be disappointed in the performance of Typhoon as its really stable and fast if you do a fresh install, starting with task29.
also id follow up on the Save battery thread (located in sig) and follow threw them steps,
Gingerbread sense is buggy at the moment (Camera/GFX glitches) as we are waiting for the new Desire Gingerbread kernel to be release (I think).
What is it you want Android 2.3 for?, or is it simply because its latest version for phone and you like sense?
