does anyone else have slow rotation rates on DK28? My wifes phone that is completely stock on DI18 rotates almost instantly. mine was slow on the froyo beta which was to be expected, but DK28 I thought was supposed to be the released version or very close. if it rotates this slow, either mine is broken or this isn't ready for primetime.
My phone doesn't rotate at all on my stock di18

Yes, this is actually the reason I am going to go back to stock because I can't stand it. Its not just slow it rotates whenever I don't want it to and then for the life of me I can't get it to go back.

No, when you go to Froyo (DK28) and then decide to either flash back or Odin back down to Eclair (DI18), somehow, the accelerometer never works again. Froyo had a settings option to calibrate the screen, and as most of us do, we see a new setting, we gotta tweak it, right!?? Apparently, that did something to make the accelerometer inoperable when we went back to DI18.
Still waiting for any advice that does NOT involve rooting the phone...to get the accelerometer back on DI18...

everyone has to do that, it only rotated the homescreen before the very first update.
but if you go into say text messaging and flip the phone, it should flip instantly, not 5 seconds later. well at least it does on the di18. I hope the real froyo over the air isn't like this or samsung needs to stop working on the nexus s and fix this crap.

I have been running froyo dk17 for days now. But I wsnted to go back to stock for ither reasons. Today I did the whole Odin flash to stock. Everything went well and im up and running stock and unrooted. One problem persists. I have reflashed all day to get it fix but no avail. Lanscape switching is DEAD. I can make it go into lanscape with the kb pulled out. But witj the kb closed, nothing rotates to lanscape a and back to portrait. Pictures dont flip, youtube dont flip, web dont flip, music player dont flip. NOTHING rotates unless if I pull the kb out, then it goes into landscape. I flashed back to the leaked dk17 and the problem is gone. Everything switches to landscape just fine. Its only when I unroot and go back to stock using odin. Can anyone suggest a fix?
I have tried the oc 1.3 ghz kernels once I rerooted. And tbat didnt fix it either. Thxs. Thxs.... Thxs.... Im going mad. LoL.

Go to the homescreen and press menu. Go to Settings > Display and make sure "Auto-rotate screen" is checked.
And if you are trying to go back to complete stock, make sure you are flashing the DI18 modem through Odin and not just the firmware. Unless you didn't flash the DK17 modem, in which case you're fine.
Typically going from 2.2 back to 2.1 results in auto rotate calibration being broke. I know there's at the least 2 or 3 threads on how to fix that. It requires using terminal emulator I would find the link but I'm watching a game and I'm selfish like that believe me there's threads with a fix though..........

No I love dk28 with ext4 and bonsai rom with no journaling. Phone has never been this fast before. Also 1 meter locks on gps and even in my house. Never got a lock on eclair before. I'm never going back to eclair. I'm gonna update to the official froyo manually.
Guys,
What do you mean by better? GPS fixed with better battery life with snappy speed than when it was launched or are you refering to it being more reliable than DK28 leaked froyo?

You are def. Right. By the way I love your theme mystery. I've showed it to a lot of people that don't have epics and they all love it. Thank you for everything that you and to all the developers. Without you there wouldn't be a point in rooting our epics and we wouldn't know how.
Sorry I don't agree. 2.1 is buggy because Samsung doesn't have it set up right. DK28 runs smother, faster, and gps performs much better.
I agree with the OP. GPS is the only real world improvement that the dk28 roms have brought me. I like to play games on my Epic, and the graphics performance is just not up to par compared to di18. I still get the occasional lag and jitter in the UI also. But I need gps for one of my jobs so I'm gonna keep running dk28 roms untill sprint drops the official froyo.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
No way DK28 is much smoother and better battery life; however, I have not hd much luck with the custom DK28 roms. Sticking with stock DK28.

Yeah, I went back to di18 every time. Some of my dk gripes were the checkerboard and flash in stock browser and being unable to successfully put a custom hosts file in it and it works. I left out of frustration and went back to di.
Quantum Rom working great for me on DK28. The only thing I am not pleased with is the inability to tether w/ infrastructure mode.
Im on my second dk28 rom ive actually had running for more than an hour, midNIGHT 2.6 w EXT4, and Im pretty happy with it. I have seen for a split second the checkering on the browser, i think, but I was wondering, is that just what the browser does when its having issues loading, i.e. an annoying, but normal issue? I did not like it on some of the early dk28's, but that was with a lot of other kinks that appear to be worked out. Also, has anyone who went back to di18 noticed the keyboard dropout issue??? I never noticed it myself, but as someone else had pointed out it may be software, I chalked it up to 2.1 builds... but I THINK i have noticed it, maybe 10 times, but could just be looking for any little thing and actually missing keys. Maybe I dont text-type as fast as others, idunno. Also, w my third epic (second a replacement that fc'd on everything, but was the most solid physically built ive held), I noticed that hardware quality varies a lot, I expected this with the slider, but maybe extends to the kb? Anyways, di18 feels stable, but I wonder if its just the feeling that it is 'official'...
Good info. I've run quantum, bonsai (I prefer it leafless), midnight, ee all are amazing I just always find my self back at stock. Oh yea cyanogen nightly's are fun too.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I've tried dk28 twice now with different roms and went back to di18 each time. Besides the gps "issue" di18 is the most solid phone build I've ever used.
Dk28 has the last.fm skipping, considerably bad keyboard lag/missed keys, captivate button lag, touches to the screen lag randomly.
Dk28 to me feels exactly like what it really is. A "good enough" leak, but it is far from polished.

The open source drivers provided by Qualcomm don't work.
The proprietary drivers were used in CM6, too.
I did the MSL fix to get my GPS working, but ever since then the "active" icon shows in the status bar even when I stop using navigation or maps. I actually think the gps stays active because I experience severe battery drain. Even when I disable the gps the icon stays active. I have to manually reboot for it to finally go away. Grr.
enter the ##gpsclrx# your phone reboots, while still in sense lock your GPS using navigation once it locks on reboot recovery and flash cm7. That's what I was told and it works 100% of the time for me.

Make a Nandroid of your current CM7 setup.
Boot into recovery and perform a full wipe (or use Calkulin Format ALL zip)
Flash any Sense ROM
Open the Market and download MSL Reader, write down MSL.
Open Dialer/Phone and type ##4118513# (##GPSCLRX#)
When it asks you for a password type in your MSL
Reboot phone
BE OUTSIDE
Turn on GPS and open Maps, allow it to fully lock your location (may take a few minutes, do not just wait for initial lock).
Leave GPS on
Turn off phone, reboot into recovery.
Nandroid restore your CM7 backup

just curious, what do you mean by a complete lock (more notably it taking a few minutes)? i've never had a gps lock take longer than a few seconds while i'm outside. it might be off by a few blocks, but it always locks really quickly (it was really bad while i was in LA last week).
it should also be noted that i have an incredible, not an evo...but after my gps issues last week while on vacation in california (and using my phone a lot for navigation) i've begun the search for a solution, because i really love CM7 otherwise. while in downtown LA i was consistently getting a "lock" that was a few blocks away from where i was, making navigation useless. it also happened a few times on the 60 freeway on the way into the city, where the phone thought i had gotten off the freeway and would start telling me to turn all over the place even though i was still driving along at 70mph on the freeway...
I saw a few people posting this in the cm7 thread. Looks like it's working great for them on the EVO too.

I'm currently on my third Epic and thought I finally got one that wouldn't give me issues (The first kept locking up, the second didn't have a working proximity sensor) but the third turned out to have some crazy GPS issues.
GPS would randomly turn off and say it was trying to connect and stay that way. Even in crystal clear skys when not moving, the GPS would just not work. Sometimes it would work only to lose connection a few minutes later.
I took it into the Sprint store and the only thing they could do for me was just flash the phone back to 2.2.
Is this purely the Gingerbread update not working (when it comes to GPS) or have other people experienced no problems with GPS on stock gingerbread?
Basically I'm debating whether I should call customer service and complain until I get a new one, try the gingerbread update again and hope it works this time, or root and hope the GPS works as well.
Any help is well appreciated.
