data frequencies once unlocked?

I have my phone unlocked but am trying to figure out was frequencies we can use for 3G on other carriers?
T-mo uses UMTS 1700 and 2100. But people who have unlocked and inserted a AT&T sim have been able to get 3G speed. Is the Vibrant able to get 850 and 1900 UTMS once unlocked?

It has 1900. In menu shows option for 850 also, but the hardware doesn't support it.

As said above, the Vibrant supports 1700/1900/2100 for 3G. AT&T uses 850 and 1900, so in 1900 areas, you can get 3G on AT&T.
In case anyone cares, the AT&T Captivate (AT&T's Galaxy S) supports 850 and 1900, so it will not receive 3G speeds on T-Mobile's US network.

The worst thing about t-mo network is that they require both 1700 AND 2100 to get 3g speed while ATT only needs one.

Not challenging you, just asking. How is TMO different than AT&T? I would guess that TMO is 1700 in some areas and 2100 in others, and so to get full coverage, you need both. Likewise, AT&T is 850 in some areas, and 1900 in some area, and to get full coverage, you need both.
Is this not actually the case?

No its not.
T-mo uses AWS(Advanced Wireless Services) which require both 1700 to upload and 2100 for download (or reverse).

On the other side of things... I would think that way of doing things (dual channel) would potentially be more effective

I think verizon would disagree on that.

Is it half duplex or full duplex? That would matter as far as having 2 channels for simultaneous upload and download.

Nexus S on Rogers 3g

hey all, just a quick question that im looking to get a quick answer for. i have a pending sale for my nexus one, but i want to confirm before i go through with the sale.
will the nexus s work on rogers 3g bands? iirc rogers is 850 and 1900 and according to google.com/nexus it supports those GSM bands

Galaxy SII working in the US

As I understand it, yes. But only with the EDGE network. 3G and 4G frequencies are probably different. Could be wrong.

This is the band T-Mobile USA uses: AWS, or UTMS. I don't think it would work, seeing the Galaxy S II's specs. I believe it has to be capable of both. I think best case scenario, it works like an unlocked iPhone and you can get Edge, but not 3G, much less "4G."
While the Galaxy S II supposedly works in both bands, I believe that in order to fully function with T-mobile USA's network it has to support both at the same time. Like I mentioned before, that's called AWS, and it seems to me it would have to be explicitly written in there as a supported band.

So what other carrier would support this device?

Completely wrong.
At&t uses 850 & 1900 for data.
The SGS2 has 850, 900, 1900, and 2100.
It should work on t mobile, but I don't know the network bands off the top if my head.

I had to post because I saw alot of misinformation.
The GS II will certainly work in the United States.
It is a Quad Band GSM phone w/ EDGE data. It will also work on the 1900 WCDMA 3G band. At&t, Telus and Bell ALL function on the 1900 WCDMA band.
So yes the GS II will work with 3g on the 1900 WCDMA band here in the states and in Canada. You only need one 3g Band either 850 or 1900 will do. Best to have both so check your coverage area. I have a Galaxy S and have constant 3.5G HSPA signal with 1900 WCDMA only band.

I looked up the network bands. This is how it is:
Voice/calls/texts/etc. will work 100% fine on both of them.
As for 3G:
SGS2: 850, 900, 1900, 2100
AT&T uses 850 and 1900. 3G will work perfectly.
T-mobile uses 1700 and 2100. Apparently their network is retarded and you need both.

T-Mobile uses 1700 paired with 2100 commonly referred to as 1700. A phone with 2100 will not work on T-Mobile... A phone must have 1700 to work on the T-Mobile USA 3G network anywhere in the USA. This phone will work on the 2G network and IF T-Mobile has any 1900 3G towers it could connect to those (I'm not aware of any at this time).

I would like to know if theres a difference between a carrier phone(t-mobile, AT&T etc.) & International n9005 LTE? I try looking up the information and through the forums but I'm still kind of confuse and dont have a set answer. I know the carrier phone is n900 but other than that is there any differences? I live in the US. now but I use to have international phones in case I travel, rooting wise and etc. But after the regional lock issue, I'm not sure which version to buy now.

It is my understanding and I am sure I will be corrected that the N900T, A V etc are not region locked. Just carrier locked. Fellow forum member did a nice write up about the differences of the US Carrier versions. His name is Mircury.

As far as I know the carrier models are carrier and region locked but if you root the device you can use ChainFire's region away app and you will be able to swap out sim cards based on your location. T-Mobile just unveiled free world roaming data usage though and with T-Mobile you can use WiFi calling so if you are outside the country you can use the data and make calls on WiFi at no additional cost.

The Carrier-specific versions have a few LTE bands unlocked that the International one doesn't.

so technically speaking international n9005LTE will not be compatible with t-mobile's 3g or 4g LTE? as the bandwidth as I see the people mention in that forum is not compatible?
I went to a store to check the phone out and a seller of the international n9005 told me the data will be running on H? would you happen to know what it means?

HSPA perhaps? I am not rooted or have I used Chairfires method. I have two options to prove this case, either buy a UK sim card here and put it in my phone and see what occurs or wait til I get there.
The N900T seems to okay, yes if you want to use it here on ATT or T mobile at least. With perhaps a little roaming overseas.
There is also another thread named something like Region locked, its over 100 pages, good luck!

The order of speed is this: (Network/Signal Designation)
GSM/G (2G)
GPRS/G+ (2.5G)
EDGE/E (2.75G)
UMTS/3G (3G)
HSPA/H (3.5G)
HSPA+/H+ (3.75G)
LTE (3.9G)
LTE Advanced (4G)
So H is HSPA = 3.5G.
International N9005 can get the 3G signal on pretty much any frequency, including US. It's the LTE bands that are incompatible.
T-Mobile US runs LTE on the 1700Mhz band, and 3G on the 1900Mhz band.
AT&T and Verizon use the 700, 1700 and 2100Mhz band for LTE, and 850 and 1900Mhz for 3G.
Sprint uses the 800, 1900 and 2500Mhz for LTE, and 800 and 1900Mhz for 3G.
N9005 International gets:

ok now im understanding it better, I was trying to find information through the forums but I guess I got confuse reading information here and there cause some people were saying it runs on 2g and some says 3g.

I think in all honesty the best speed I will get with my Note 3 N900T in the UK will be 3G. Not until they start using band 7 2600 which is still not used but reserved for future.

I just compared the N9005, which he asked about, with the US cellular providers. Having multiple bands is lovely, but if your provider isn't using them, they're also a bit pointless

I've found the N900 variant from Negri Electronics.
It runs on 3G/4G bands - 1900, 2100, 850, 950
In the UK I have a Virgin Mobile SIM and an O2 SIM.
O2 has 900, 1800 for 2G, 900, 2100 for 3G and 850 for 4G so I guess I would be able to use this for 3G still?
Virgin has 1800 for 2G, 2100 for 3G and 800 and 1800 for 4G so again, OK for 3G?
I'd definitely like some clarification before pulling the trigger.

The 3G band for Europe and Asia is the same (and so are the 2G bands btw). The phone doesnt have an LTE radio, so obviously that wont work. I had no issues on EE.

If i may ask.. why on earth are you getting the n9000, and not the n9005? I am in the uk also. I am with giffgaff, soon they will have 4g.
Edit: i haven't actually used a n9000, but i would see no reason to basically downgrade from my n9005, very easy to build cm11 for. Everything just seems perfect. Had it since christmas
