There's a SyncMyPix app in the market.
You used to be able to add the samsung facebook sync and day no to sync ask contacts. It would then give you a list of who to sync, but that seems broken in froyo as I can no longer get it to show that list.

i recently moved from a mt3g to the vibrant. on my mt3g, after downloading the facebook app, i was able to see my friends' facebook profile pictures in the contact list. on the vibrant, it doesn't do that.
is there any way to make it so it does?
try out syncmypix from the market
I think you open the facebook app and you go into settings then sync contacts. If I remember correctly. I've done it without an app for sure.
I think you have to go to contacts and choose Get Friends from the menu - that will give you the option to import your Facebook contacts and then the phone will automatically link as many as it can and then the ones with linked profiles will have the Facebook pictures.

Kevnkate is correct. Assuming you have your facebook info stored in the Accounts app you just hit get friends and it pulls all that info. You also have the option to view different contacts. All/phone/facebook/etc

What does a guy have to do for the Facebook contact photo to show up in other Android apps that display contact photos like SMS?
If I apply the photo to a contact from local storage it will show on the SMS app, but I haven't found a single Facebook contact photo that will show in SMS. Why?
Is there a trick to getting this to work? I'm finding its the same on Froyo DK17 release for Epic and stock DI18 Epic.

FIX ACTION:
1. Delete the existing FB account from Settings -> Accounts and Sync
2. Select your FB account and hit button "Remove Account"
3. Go to home screen
4. Open Contacts application in Android
5. Menu option to "Get Friends"
6. Hit "Add Account" button
7. Add Facebook Account
You'll have to go back and open Facebook application and authenticate to that separately.
You have to actually end up with two Facebook accounts under Settings -> Accounts. One is for the Facebook application and widget. The other is for the Andriod Contacts and Calendar apps to sync tightly with FB.
I had the same problem so I unlinked my Facebook friends from my contacts. Now my contacts don't have a picture at all! If I edit them, the previous picture shows up but when I finish editing, its not there.

I don't know about 2.2 as I have not been brave enough to flash a rom yet. However, I just resolved this problem about a week ago on 2.1. What I did was delete all FB accounts on my phone, After that go to the facebook widget, it will have you sign on to FB. Do it. Now go to your contacts and long press on someone. Go to get friends. You will then have to login to your FB for that. Do it. Link your contacts if needed. For some reason the order in which you do this matters. It's freakin' stupid.

Thanks alfiej - that did the trick. It's the same in Eclair as Froyo. You have to actually end up with two Facebook accounts under Settings -> Accounts. One is for the Facebook application and widget. The other is for the Andriod Contacts and Calendar apps to sync tightly with FB. And you're right, looks like the best way to add it is through Contacts "Get Friends" option. That synced up the contact data AND grabbed the FB photos for my contacts! Woot!
i prefer not to rely on the system to pick the photos as it tends to mix them up horridly, i use an app called syncmypix in the market its free and lets you pick or can do a smart scan
Same here...when you install the one made by the facebook app tell it not to sync. Go to the sync settings and add the facebook one at the top. Then go through and join your contacts. Works like a charm then.
No prob, glad I could actually help someone. And good looking on the sync app, I am going to have to check it out. I'm tired of baby pictures in my contact list lol
+99 on syncmypix!!! Sweet high res goodness for my contact photos! I think they even synced to my corporate exchange contacts after updating on my device. Thanks shabbypenguin for that tip!

Hello.
I have been using cm7 and loving it. Only thing I miss from original Tom is how facebook was tied together with Facebook and would provide updates and show recent picture.
Is there a way to have this on cm7?

No. One of the trade offs
Install Facebook from Market and turn on contact sync for existing contacts. Make sure the contacts on your phone have an email address to match with an email address listed in Facebook.
Thanks. Also I have seen Facebook picture sync apps are they any good?

I tried doing that, downloading Facebook and hoping it would sync everything but it didn't.
So I downloaded an app called 'Contapps' and through the settings you can sync your contacts with your Facebook account, and if theres contacts that don't automatically sync, you can do it manually.
facebook app will aloso sync if the names match exactly. I have mine all set like that and they sync just fine.
Mine seem to be syncing. They all show up as being linked under the contact, but for some contacts their picture doesn't show even though it is linked. Any ideas? And also is there a way to make it so those facebook pics don't show up so blurry in the caller id?
just upgrade to google plus and kiss Facebook Bye Bye.
If you need to see what person look like prior to calling them, you don't know them well enough.
Just edit the contact, and if they're already linked to their Facebook account, click the Facebook photo and choose to "Use this photo."
So for some reason, my contacts will sync with their facebook counterparts, and display their facebook profile picture in the contacts app, but when I dial their number, or receive a text from them, it displays no picture. Any solution?
I think it has something to do with the 'phone' contact overriding the 'facebook' contact. Either way, the way I got around it was by deleting all the phone contacts I had and just going with google and facebook. This, of course, takes away the ability to set individual ringtones (as far as I can tell). But it should solve the issue.

You can try downloading SyncMyPix from market also, it will download all your facebook contacts pics and import them into your phone and google acct contact pictures, but you have to run it every couple of days/weeks if someone changes their FB profile pic and you want the updated one to show up.

Hey folks,
I've synced my facebook contacts with existing contacts and the images are blurry as hell, like they are a tiny resolution. This used to happen on ICS but was meant to be fixed with Jellybean, seems to have reared it's ugly head again for me.
Anyone else getting the same? and if so have you resolved it?
Thanks,
Ben.
I always use Contact Picutre Sync to sync facebook pictures with contacts

It's the simplest way to do it

Would recommend Haxsync, it will sync the hi-res images as well as your contacts statuses which appear under each conact on your phone. It also syncs the fb calendar and allows you to set reminders for birthdays and events.
I disable the contacts and calendar sync for fb and just use haxsync to do it all.

You don't get people's phones though. That's why I use Facebook sync in the first place.

Fair enought, anyone I want to call I have their number outside of fb. Just use Haxsync as well as the fb contacts sync, it will automatically merge the contacts anyway giving you the number and the high quality photos etc...

I suppose I could do that. I hope it merges the contacts right this time. Last time i used it, it was throwing contacts all over the place. I had to merge them manually.
