Hey!
I tried flashing a Hero rom to my HTC Magic this evening, but after flashing the phone just froze at the HTC Magic screen, it didnt reboot, it just froze.
I then tried to boot in the recovery menu, and install a earlier version of cyanogen, that i know have worked on my phone before. But the same happens, the phone just freeze at the HTC Magic screen, and nothing happens.
I have a Magic 32A
Hope that anyone here can help me, dont know what i need to do to get it working again.
1.) wrong section
2.) do you have a nandroid backup ?
1) Sorry, maybe an moderator can move the thread to the proper forum
2) Yes i have a Nandroid backup on my computer. I have tried taking that nandroid and copying it to a spare SDcard i have, and then boot in recovery and then choose Nandroid Restore, but i keeps saying : Error performing restore! Try running 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' from console.
Dont know what that means
So i guess i dont have a nandroid backup, or not a working nandroid
Any ideas?

Did you rename your Nandroid backup from the original name? If so then this can cause problems when you try to restore.
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash userdata data.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
boot to fastboot and put your nadroid system.img data.img boot.img files inside sdk tools folder
and open cmd and copy paste above

Does anyone have either a nandroid backup or an update.pkg of the stock rogers build? I have looked around and no one seems to have it.
Thanks
Sorry to hi-jack, but I would really appreciate to have this ROM.
Please help!
Sorry again, I got my phone yesterday and it is now stuck at the Dell Logo, I tried almost everything, I would really need what the OP is asking.
Please help us...

seems to work
I tried flashing the boot.img, system.img ans recovery.img with FastBoot. Still stuck at the Dell Logo.
Can somebody explain me how to restore using Nandroid, I don't know where to put the files "goodpill" just provided, Nandroid always say "Can't find MISC" and not able to find my files.
Sorry for all these questions.
Regards
you extract the folder you just downloaded to the clockworkmod\backup directory on your sd card and launch nandroid on the device and choose that folder to restore from
Hi Again,
Thanks a lot for your help, I am using Clockworkmod v1.8.1.7 and did exactly what you just said about the folders on the sd card, and still not luck, Nandroid say "Can't find MISC" and "No File Found"
Is this the correct path?
SD-root\clockworkmod\backup
Thanks again

Ok sorry for last post, I figure out my mistake. Now I am able to point to the files you provided in the previous post and start the restore procedure, after I get this error.
Erasing Boot before restore...
Error while formating BOOT:!
Can somebody help me please.
Regards
I also have the same error when I try to format "system"
Erasing Boot before restore...
Error while formating BOOT:!
Erasing System before restore...
Error while formating SYSTEM:!
Can this be related to the fact my Streak is not rooted?
Please help.
i am not sure what the problem is, did you install fastboot and clockworkbackup?
are you rooted with androot (not sure if this is necessary)
did you try the factory reset and start over routine?
Hello,
today i have just tried to install Windows Phone 7 on my HD2.
Before i have created an nandroid backup with clk cwm.
I didnt like WP7 so i've decided fast to return back to my old rom.
I didnt find my old clk installation files so i've downloaded some new one (same cwm partitions)
Now if i want to restore my backup cwm gives me the following lines:
ClockworkMod Recovery v3.2.0.0
Checking MD5 sums...
Erasing boot before restore...
Restoring boot image...
Error while flashing boot image!
And i'm back in the menu.
Can anyone help me please? I have set up this rom for so long time and dont want to lose it.
Regards.
files maight be currompted ...just intsall everything from the begening and in the next time when u will make a backup copy the file into ur computer so u dont have to worry about the backup
Try flashing the rom clean, and then use selective restore to restore the data and sd ext partitions only.

as my experience some builds accept restoring of nandroid from another build but many of them don't accept. so what is best flash your old rom, restore nandroid, then backup with titanium backup, then flash the other rom and restore with titanium backup.
Hi,
I had a problem with my NDT miui nand buil recently, it was sticking on boot animation, so I made a backup via cwm, I saved the backup folder on my pc. Now I want to restore that backup. I tried all the usual methods for it, I did tas29, flashed new clk, and tried backup, still stuck on boot animation, I flashed my last rom and then tried to restore the backup, again stuck on boot animation. I did everything for it, but doesn't works for me. It does the restore process as usual, but I wan't to boot, my phone stuck in boot animation. So I beg you to help me with one of these alternatives, please.
-I only want to restore my contacts, call logs and sms. Anyway to restore them only? there are some .img files in backup folder, which one are these files stored?
-Is there anyway I can extract backups files on my pc and get my contacts,sms,... in it?
-If none of above works, is there anyway to install cwm on pc android emulator, and then restore my backup in it, and again get my contacts,sms there?
I will really be thankful of your helps

Are you using the correct partition size? Too small a partition normally causes the phone to hang at the bootanimation. If you have used the correct partition size and it still doesn't boot, try simply increasing it to account for any bad blocks you may have.
It's also possible that your backup is corrupted somehow, it happened to me once. If this is the case, try flashing the same ROM and then restoring the data partition in CWM.
When you rename backup file do not use spaces (exp. icsromv3)

I don't think that's the problem because if the ROM gets up to the bootanimation (after a Task29) then it's clearly been [somewhat] flashed correctly so it's probably down to the backup itself, or of course an error somewhere on his part.

Come on guys, this is common sense. If he made the backup with the rom ALREADY not booting up, no matter what he does, it'll always stick to the boot animation.
The back-up saves your ROM at its current state, not the one it was working at before. Backups should only be done when your ROM is actually fully functioning, not when it is broken. So unfortunately, you have to do what Nigel Suggested. Make a clean install of that ROM and then only restore the data partition.
You may be able to do the emulator thingy, but I'm not sure, you can give it a shot though.
For extracting something from your backup see appextractor or nandroid browser

Whoops, I should have read the OP more carefully
@OP Yeah, just fresh install then restore the data partition. I still don't understand why the other ROM isn't working though unless it's your fault somwhere
Hello,
i need help. I messed up my phone while trying to repair my only read mode system partition after boot.
Current state:
Phone CAN-L11 with EU Firmeware and working TWRP Recovery.
I did a full wipe, but have no data partition to restore, because this couldn´t be saved with twrp while i made my first nand backups during no read access to data partition.
My phone always shows 2 times the huawei logo and then boot in erecovery from huawei where i tried to restore, but it shows always "fail to get data" (wifi works).
When i restore all partitions backups that i own via twrp i miss the data partition (is the cause why it wont boot - isn´t it?)
Now i searched for any img that i can use to get my phone working again - anyone has a tip what img i could use (i have a huawei update extractor) - through twrp or fastboot.
Could anyone help me with a twrp backup or a img file of data partition - or has another tip how to get my phone working again?
Thanks for tips!

I think that you need a system.img, so you can flash. This system imagem would write everything you need, so you can boot normally.
Have you tried to dowload @bluesmoothie backup from dropbox from the Root and Recovery post?

Format /data, reboot recovery and than restore from backup. After the restore is complete make a wipe.
I restored my system from twrp (original first save). But that did not help.
After that i loaded the can-L11c432 update.zip from huawei and extracted with others the system.img - that also did not help to boot.
Tomorrow i flashed the orignal recovery.img from c432 but i did not find an update.zip wich works to manually flash in stock recovery.
@Vinnom the link you shared leads to twrp.img (no system.img).
@-=MoRpH=- thanks, i will try and report back. Is this anyway a chinese version in there? I think i have the same struggle you had days back. Is your phone completely working again?
So sick that my phone did not work. Now working with my "old" LG G2...
I report back later - first family dinner

@merlin21 yes it sounds like my problem after I tried to flash the emui5 beta.
My phone is fully working again with the backup I posted.
This is not the Chinese version, if nothing works, you can try the caz ROM. But there are massive problems with the gapps, they are not included in the rom.

i just flashed the twrp.img with fastboot from xelfmade v22.12. and then rebooted twrp.
Then formated data and confirmed with yes - rebooted recovery and tried to restore your twrp. It did not restore and aborted instantly with the error message
during restoreing cust...
extractTarFork() proecess ended with ERROR: 255
what could that be?
IT WORKS! Thanks @murph... I had to use the cust from my backup, but with your data partition it successfully booted again. Locking forward if i now have still the problem with read only system partition. I am away setting up phone again (and of course rooting, modifying etc.. but FIRST do a full backup after basic setup and safe in PC !!!)
Thanks!
P.S. how did you manage to back up data partition in recovery? I thought this wouldn't be possible?! What is the cost for having this full working twrp?
PPS. Somehow knock on screen for screenshot does not work - could be, that i have to log in with huawei id... does it work for you morp?

That only work if the is not rooted... Idk whats up with that, but for now i use the quicksetting screenshot function.
Somehow it worked with my rooted device before. Must be the decrypted data partition?
With the recovery of your backup I could not access data or change memory from data to sd. What version do you use?
I flashed xelfmades v22 and now have rw access and could backup all partitions and restore. Root and xposed modules everything works, just the knock on screen to capture don't...

May I ask how?
I'm kinda stuck personnaly. I have tried both Nand backups but no cigar. Still can't boot. I had the Data issue which I managed to get rid of.
I still end up with a ExtTarFork 255 kind of error. I tried to change the files attributes via adb shell, but it failed so I've got an OS-Less phone...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I copied the backup, which is linked somewhere in this thread, to my sdcard and restored it on my Nova using twrp. The extractfork issue showed up while restoring '/cust' so i disselected cust in the restoring menu. After that the restoring worked and my nova was able to boot.
Hope this is any help to you.

That didn't do the trick for a while, or I might have forgotten a step, but deselecting CUST did the trick.
Thanks for the tip!
Although, maybe flashing the Cust partition I found in one of the two upgrade zips via fastboot might have helped? I dunno...
But in short, for those who haven't followed through, here's what I did, but I'm not sure this is why it worked:
1. Bricked my device : be sad;
2. DLed all the posted Nandroid backup on this thread and others;
3. With fastboot, reflashed TWRP from Xelfmade using "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img";
4. Flashed the CUST.img I found in the UPDATE.APP of the update_data_full_CAN-L11_hw_eu.zip; or maybe the other, only one of the two seem to have it; I extracted it using Huawei Firmware Extractor; using "fastboot flash cust cust.img";
5. Created a "fake" backup to create the right folder structure on my SD (TWRP Couldn't see the backups) and put the Nandroid Backups I DLed earlier in it;
6. Reboot in TWRP and Restore all partitions except CUST;
7. Reboot, sweat, wait, cry, roll on the floor in fear, heard the huawei startup sound, cried as if it was my first born child;
8. Setup the fone and profit; then enjoy Nova goodness;
92.324. and probably most important, TWRP BAAAACKUUUUP!!!!!
All done!
Thanks for your help my phone is saved with your method!!!
i downgraded my MLA-L03 variant with this, but now im stuck in french language with no other languages to choose from

Frankly, I don't know. I had not modified the partitions prior to bricking my phone, so I think the partitioning was OK. However, I think one of the TWRP availble in this forum can format Data partition properly, which would utlimately allow you to select which File Format you want. I haven't tried it myself, and I haven't been able to do much with TWRP since I flashed Lineage unfortunately. Most of my Mods were just upgrading and I had to ADB Sideload pretty much everything since I flashed Lineage...
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful than that!
