You're not going to see much of anything until source code is released, or at the very least Google pushes out the update to the Nexus One. There's not a whole lot you can do with just the SDK.
It is "working" already on the Desire. With a lot of things that don't function yet. But it's nice to have a look at it, although it's still very slow.
that might just be the emulator version
which is horrible
Oh just thought there was a leaked rom out there somewhere

You better wait until a stable version comes out for us...
I can't wait for these threads every day!
Come on! Dev's have gotten SDK rips for the Evo, Eris, and even the HD2 booted. I figure since the Nexus One WAS the official dev phone, we should get a rip too. I realize that we'll probably have gingerbread in a few days but still, I'M IMPATIENT
I wish I was a bit smarter, I would do the rip myself. I don't know the first thing about reverse engineering or programming though

the ****? It is pointless, it is an SDK build, NOTHING IS GOING TO WORK RIGHT. There are NO drivers in it, NO hardware acceleration.
Why waste time with some pointless **** when the official Google update will be out in literally a few weeks?
I swear, XDA has been going down the ****ter lately with posts like this crap. What happened, did Howard Forums close down and you all had to come over here or something?

Although it's only a theme it has Gingerbread features, this is the closest you're going to get until the Gingerbread Man comes knocking. It only works with CyanogenMod 6.1 final, and Passion, but trust me it's worth it.

It's a waste of time porting the sdk .. I am sure the leaks would arrive soon..
Will Google release an official update for nexus one?
Yes they will.

[EDIT 2] ^^^^^this Gingerbread theme turned my CM6.1 into an infinite CM Bootscreen loop. Lucky I did a Nandroid backup before hand. Time to remove the battery and cross my fingers...

I've been looking for the original Cyan (Morph or Mod?) for the lockscreen that shows Messaging sliders etc too. I had it on an older pre-Nandroid backup and lost it. Can you point me to the thread in the Dev forum where I can get it please?
I looked and looked but couldn't find it. I'd like the original morph, not the whole Gingerbread theme if possible.
Thanks for your help with this.

Nexus One owners feeling a little Nexus S envy can breathe a little easier -- we're hearing that Android 2.3 Gingerbread is being pushed out to the N1 as we speak. We'd imagine that all the slick new features that don't require new hardware (like NFC support) will be there, and we're definitely interested in playing with this built-in WiFi calling stack. We'll let you know what we find -- won't you do the same?

i don't see any major attractive things make me update to 2.3 immediately.
the most excited feature is the improved voice command. and improved keyboard.
What interests me is the new dalvik-cache handling, supposed to speed things up a lot.

Not really, but the actual dump from a real device would be nice, because it has drivers, and things like that. When infinitybiff makes a release, rest assured, not everything will work right away. I quote infinitybiff when I say that.

Several months after the Nexus.
Which is why I will probably end up going back to the Nexus after its updated.
The G2 was touted as being vanilla Android but its not really.
So it will be however long TMO takes to port Gingerbread for the G2.
It wont be Google we are waiting on.

I understand but those that are technically challenged (skeered of bricking our phones)
Have to wait on the OTA update.
I agree on that by the time they release it OTA I will have the Nexus S by then maybe even another toy. But the only reason why I love Android is the modding it's the greatest part of all I have all the custom rom's on both the Nexus One and G2 and flash sometimes multiple times a day waiting for the OTA weres the fun in that?
Meh, nothing that amazing in Gingerbread anyway.
Only thing amazing is that on / off animation...
It may not be crazy amazing stuff but I'm always down for some performance tweaks and fixes. And that on off animation is totally worth it.

I'm using CM7 right now, as are many others on this forum. It's up to you if you think it's a daily driver or not, but it's there, right now.
Patience, there's two people working on it (not together) xboarder, and krylon. Its hard to make a 2.3 from scratch.
Cm7 should be out of beta for i9000 pretty soon. Just be patient.
Remember when people questioned if the G1 would ever get updated? You know... the 3 year old Grandpa of all Android phones.
IT is running a newer version of the OS than my Vibrant. Have faith and patience man.
The same old 2.2 roms passing around, people editing icons & backgrounds, changing boot screens & apps. But at the end of the day there all froyo. eugene's macnutR14 is the most customized rom. bionix is nice but doesn't have video calls on the dialer. you can metamorph, ninjamorph, flash, push, oc your phone but its still 2.2 froyo
I want to see all the 2.3 gingerbread affects on vibrant the scrolling animation, the crt animation the camera app, the downloads app where they at holla
I can modify my own 2.2 rom theres so many to take stuff from. stop playing with each others roms work on 2.3 are you guys devs or are you editors cause it looks like besides a few your all editors

Okay, I'm starting to get annoyed at these kind of threads that come from ppl that obviously have no clue in what it takes to build a ROM from the ground on up. Just because android is open source doesn't mean that samsung's kernels are and we pretty much need compatible ones for our ROMs to work. Meanwhile, there are at least 2 teams working on gingerbread ROMs right now. I dunno about you but I'd rather have a fully stable 2.2/2.2.1 ROM out while we have the source than to take my chances and possibly brick my phone on a bug infested build of gingerbread.

What do you guys think? can it run on the G2/DZ?
i think it might be able to. looking at the code, it might be able to run some things. plus, the galaxy nexus has only a 5mp camera. the G2 has a 5mp camera as well, so it could be capable of some ICS camera features, maybe all of it. i am keeping my fingers cross that ICS can work on this phone!
If it can run on both Nexus S and Nexus One, i don't see why not on G2?

there was a basic honeycomb port a while back, and thats before we had a real source for honeycomb. Now that we'll have the ICS source, we should be able to run it. It'll just take time to get developers (and google) to have a working release.

Stock would just be fine with me! My guess is anything above stock, like a sense version of ICS, it will take up too much memory and perhaps slow the phone down.

Yes, because the Vision has its own set of drivers that need to be cooked into the ROM for all the hardware to work.

Why would they put 2.3 on the hero and g1. Simple answer. Because they can. Quit being a douche. If you can't be constructive then throw your keyboard/phone/tablet in the trash.

Edit: Also remember that CM7 was on these phones pretty quick. The devs in our community know these phones. Plus the experience of doing it once might just make it a little easier to do it again. I remember from the Eris forums the devs saying it was easier to get 2.3 since they already battled through 2.2.
I'm also willing to bet you will see ICS for the g1 and hero also. Once again, just to say they did it!

Yeah....no.
That is why the dev community is so cherished on Android, they keep old phones up to date. If they only worked on new phones, which will see these updates officially anyway, what's the freaking point? The G2 is a phone the devs (including Cyanogen himself) really like. So spend a little bit getting informed next time.

That's the whole point of these development forums: to provide old, unsupported devices with the latest updates since the manufacturer won't.
