Do you get vibration from other things ? e.g. if you turn the ringer volume down until the phone is in vibrate mode, does it vibrate when you press the volume down button then ?
What ROM are you running ?
I had the same problem when I installed Handcent SMS (I suppose conflict between stock sms app and handcent)
try "Sound Manager" on the market.
Run it and go to "vibrate settings" you will be able to activate the vibration to your sms app again
So Guys,
I found the solution. Sound Manager is practicable but it doesnt helped.
After change of a few settings, I found the solution.
You must go to "Messeges" (Nachrichten) -> Menue -> Settings and check "vibration". The checkbox in "general settings" doesnt help, only the checkbox in "messeges". I hope, that can help other to solve the problem.

hi guys
I find problem whenever an incoming sms comes. I can't hear any alert or sound which i assigned. when i go to notifications & alerts. Its weird I notice that the "PLAY" checkbox is unchecked automatically for "Messaging New text mail" but perhaps I had checked option to play the alert. I don't know why its happening.
I have installed the following applications in my Today screen.. Phonealarm, claunch & Vitosoundexplorer. I have a doubt is it due to phonealarm settings.. its causing problem. because I saw the settings for phonealarm, where it as option to alert for SMS. and alert assigned is "system" I tried to change that and assigned my own alert. but even then only when sms comes. it only beeps once. is it the phonealarm taking over... kindly suggest what to do.
thanks and regards

I set all my sms/mms/notifications to nothing but "Display message on screen" because I'm using phonealarm which handles all the vibrating/alarms but every time I SR my device the settings go back to default, the only thing that stays is my Incoming Call setting. Does anybody else have this? Anyone know where the settings are in the registry? Maybe i can do an import on startup. I know that some settings are in HKCU\Control Panel\Sounds but these seem to be just for the ringing sounds and not the notification settings.
Hello everybody,
I recently flashed my Qtek 8310 (Tornado) to WM6.1 Standard.
Whenever I loose wifi connection it gives an annoying audio notification.
I've disabled exclamations, questions and warnings in sound setup but the beep is still there.
Anyone know how to disable it?
Thanks
Ms Vibe
It may be dependant on the ROM you are running, but I have the option in the "Sounds and Notifications" control panel in the "Notifications" section. Find it in the pull down menu: "Wireless Network Detected"
I used this:
"Update June 18 2008 - New WM6.1 Standard ROM from XDA-Developers, made by illi & rickywatt
Download link - http://karhoe.net/myfiles/illi_WM6.1_remade_by_rickwyatt_v2a.zip"
I then installed the connection manager HTC Connan IR+WIFI+VOIP from the Extras.zip Nitros posted.
In Settings -> Sounds I don't have anything about wifi. I don't have a "Sounds and Notifications" menu either.
In Settings -> Connections -> WLAN Settings -> Wifi Networks -> Menu -> Advanced I switched off "Available Network Notification" but that seems to be only about visual notification.
Maybe there is a reg. hack for this?
Which ROM version are you on yourself?
/Ms Vibe
Sorry, I'm using a PPC (T-Mo Wing). I'll look through the registry, perhaps I can find something else. You might try posting in the groups for your phone.
So you're trying to disable an audible notification? <-------- Nevermind... I forgot you already said that.
I wonder if perhaps you have that control panel, but no link to it... might be worth looking into, because if it is indeed present you could still launch it via a shortcut.
Yep, that's right. Thanks for your time.
I have to get some sleep now, but I will dig further tomorrow.

I have this same problem with the recent version of RickyWatt's ROM (not sure if it's specific to his). If I turn on Wifi and let the phone rest for even 30 seconds, it gives a loud beep as if Wifi has gone to sleep (it reconnects when I interact with the phone).
I can't seem to find any corresponding notification for that. I'm considering turning off all notifications because of it.
The notification checkbox switch in "Menu-Advanced" in WiFi settings won't work (I tested different systems). The menu option "Don't show this message again" that is available upon notification's delivery won't work either.
I guess this is the 931,528,149,367,652th bug in WM6.
The only solution is to let the notification to be processed, and set a quiet notification action to be associated with it:
1) Open Menu>Settings>Personal>Sounds&Notifications>Notifications
2) In the events' selector, choose "Wireless LAN detected"
3) Make sure that both the "Show message on screen" and "Switch screen on" options are unselected, BUT SELECT AT LEAST ONE OTHER NOTIFICATION ACTION: IF YOU LEAVE ALL OPTIONS BLANK, THE DEFAULT NOTIFICATION WILL STILL BE PERFORMED. I recommend setting the vibration as the only action.
4) Close options' mask
With these settings, your machine will still vibrate when a WiFI-LAN is detected, but at least it will stay quiet and no annoying messages will pile up in the pipeline of notifications.
At the same time, the networks for which you may have set up an automatic connection will simply hook up as soon as they get detected.

Hi,
I just bought my experia phone and encountered this problem where the phone does not vibrate when a new text message is received.
I have selected the vibrate option in the sounds and notification settings, but it does not work.
The phone vibrates when there's an incoming call though.
Is there something wrong with my phone?
Help greatly appreciated.

Did you set the vibrate option for the point "Messaging: New SMS" (you can chose it in the drop down menu in the "sound and notification" settings).
If it does not vibrate then, some other program seems to change the registry value for this setting.
Hello... I have the same problem... What can I do to slove this problem???
Shall I install a new ROM???
Thank you...
did you marked the items of "event","progams,"notification",
I think, that must be the problem on ROM,if you have been marked that three items and selected the correct option.try to flash other rom.
BTW,the strength of x1's vibrator is too weak, sometimes you can hear it vibrating clearly but can't feel it. good luck
Hi guys, I recently rooted my HTC Wildfire and flashed Cyanogenmod-7.1.0.1-buzz and everything went fine until my friend sent me a text and the phone didn't vibrate when I got a notification. The system vibrate is on and the "Vibrate when receiving a notification" box is check in both messaging and in Go SMS Pro.
Can anyone help? Anything will be much appreciated

thanks for all the help, I have fixed it by installing Sound manager and going menu > vibrate settings > and checking vibrate whenever possible under notifications
