SD card issue after upgrade - Epic 4G General

None of the apps that use the SD now works; , i.e. music player, camera, etc..
If I unmount the SD, these apps work.
All apps worked before the upgrade.

Eclair Market apps for Froyo phone?

So I have a bunch of apps that I want to install, and I can't because (at least I think) I'm running CM6, and the apps are compatible with 2.1 or lower. For what it's worth, I haven't applied the OTA update yet.
Is there anything that can be done to fix this?
Titanium Backup
Not really sure what you mean. I didn't purchase them yet. Should I revert to a 2.1 build, buy the apps, back them up, reflash, then install them via titanium backup?
That is a pain in the *** but if it's the only way, I guess I'll give it a whirl.
Any other ideas?
I don't know about u but im having issues using titanium backup when im on froyo. For some reason some apps i backed up on 2.1 won't restore with 2.2 roms. I tried this with all versions of skyrider and cm6. Although that might just be the apps incompatability with froyo its happening with about 70% of my backups

That's what I had to do.

Plug in your SD card, and turn on SD card storage before you restore the apps.
It's because they are trying to install to your SD card even though you don't have a partition set up on your SD card.
If your SD card storage is turned on, they don't detect an sd card and install to the internal storage.
Happened to me with a bunch of my apps too.
Haven't had a problem restoring any apps with titanium backup donate version. Running sky raider 1.9 atm but have used 1.0, 1.7, 1.8 also without problems

Same here, used TB to restore all my apps on SkyRaider 1.9. The only app that didn't restore was Google Sky.

Plug in your USB cable, enable the USB connection, then download it from the market. It's a froyo bug with any app that tries to force itself to install onto your SD card. If the SD card isn't mounted, it will install to internal memory. Do the same thing with any other apps you find that download but won't install.

Cool, thanks. The only other problem I have is with NFL mobile. The app runs fine but when I try to watch the live stream, I get a network error.

[Q] Apps on sd

Ok I've got a stupid question but havent stumbled across the answer yet... HTC Aria, I've found plenty of info that says you can move apps over to the sd card to free up phone memory but I cant find the option to do this. I've gone through the settings menu, gone to the apps, but there is no button to 'move to sd'. Do I need to upgrade this phone to 2.2 in order to do this?
Personally I'm using the Samsung Captivate loaded with 2.2 and have no problems moving apps over to the card. Even apps that are 'apps2sd' enabled dont have the option to move on the Aria, apps that I was able to move around on my Captivate dont show the option on the htc.
Rooting and custom roms are not an issue for the user, they just keep getting 'out of memory' messages and asked me to fix the phone. The only downside to loading the official 2.2 update is the fact that all data is lost but I do have some spare time to reload everything - I just dont want to waste my time downloading and running the update if it still wont let me move apps over to the sd card. Thanks for the help
Android's built-in support for moving some applications to the SD card (apps2sd) requires Froyo (2.2), so that is why you aren't seeing the option. It is supported in the official 2.2 update for the Aria.
Those of us here don't like to recommend updating to the official 2.2 release because it makes it impossible to root your phone or install custom ROMs at a later point in time. There are a few custom ROMs available on this forum that can give you 2.2 Sense on the phone with things like sideloading and free tethering enabled, and most of the AT&T preloaded apps removed. However if you're OK with AT&T's limitations and don't have a problem not being able to use custom ROMs, then that's your prerogative.

not with the built in a2sd. but if you create an ext2 or ext3 partition on your sd card you can use the s2e app from the market to move apps to the sd card and still use your widgets.

Just to clarify (and potentially save someone some trouble), S2E only works with ext3, not ext2.
Also S2E only works with CM7, don't try it with any other ROMs!

Help required...SD card read error..

Hi,
Yesterday I saw toxic 7 ROM and went ahead to flash it. I odin'ed my phone to stock before flashing this rom. After flashing this rom I restored my apps using titanium back up and re-booted. It worked fine for a while and then every thing went downhill from there. I have started feeling the ROM was slow and getting FCs on many apps. So I flashed Bionix 1.3.2 test ROM. It was also giving me FCs on any apps trying to read sd card. So I odin'ed again to stock and flashed Bionix and still getting sd card read error. Strangely if I use file explorer or root explorer I am able to see the files on my sd card. For example I can see a music file thru file explorer but music player can't read it. If I try to play a music file from explorer I get a sd card error.
Can anybody help me?????
Thanks in advance.

my music on ext. sd not found on any rom but stock

the music is on my ext sd card but no matter what rom it's on it won't show up there. I did flash back to a stock rom and it still is there and shows up and works just fine. Is there any way to fix this?
Have you tried unmounting your sd remove it. Then put it back in? This happend to me recently and thats how I fixed it. Also plug your phone up to a pc and see if it can read the files from your sd through the phone.

Try re-scan media from the market. Basically we want to force a rescan of both sd cards

Tried both ideas and they didn't work. I was able to pull up file in file manager and play through there but that's a pain in the ass
Hmm, thats odd. Are you using the stock player? And have you tried downloading different players from the market, or flashing one to test it? What build version are the ROMs you are using also?
I have tried about 8 different roms. My current one is Toxic7.xwjs8
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 OverStock-1.2GHz-2.4.1 #8
I have tried the players that flash on the rom ,I've tried dl win amp. I even thought that it may have been an issues since the music was synced with the kies 2.2 update so i formatted the sd card and put it all back on again and still nothing
try putting it in the int sd...
I know that works but I don't want it using my internal memory plus I have to much music
any other ideas
Idk what else could be. Does your phone actually read the card at all If you go to storage in settings? Have you tried a different sd yet?

You have got to settings on your media players, click where it says scan folders. Select the. External sd. After that refresh the app. That's it. I have a full 16GB of music and its able to read it.

Moving apps to sd card says app not installed

Hi my g900w8 is rooted and have used the sd card fix. I have a SanDisk ultra microsd. It saves my pictures, transfers music, documents etc fine.
I've used the application manager to move apps to the SD card ie. Challenger comic viewer and once I move it the icon goes grey looks like a sd card icon and when I tap the icon it loads then I get a pop up the app is not installed.
At the moment I'm on stock firmware, I'll be trying some custom roms so I hope with the custom roms this issue is corrected.
I am asking this because I wasn't sure if this was an issue for stock and custom firmware and anytime I tried to search all the topics are about moving apps to sd card using the app manager but nothing about issues.
Thanks for any help if I somehow missed a thread regarding this or I'm S.O.L. because this is an issue with kit Kat. Then I apologize for wasting ppl time

..
Same issue here.
Apps moved to extsd in app manager and using a specific app which effectively takes you to the same move to sd stage in app manager.
Same results but not immediately.
All showed up for a week.
Next day 2 were missing.
Following day another.
Only way to get them running again is to re download and install from market (where they don't show as installed).
Thought it might have been my SanDisk 64GB card.
