OCLF Missing from the market - Vibrant General

Has anyone else noticed that RyanZA's one click lag fix has disappeared from the market? I only ask because I had to restore my phone to factory, and wanted to root again and we all know OCLF is the easiest way to do it.

Pulled from the market I read that it didn't work with jk6
V5 custom vibrant

Actually, it works just fine with JK6. Using it right now on a stock install.

Try www.4shared.com just use search!

Thank you, darkside. Found it, installed it, and flashed a new ROM.

Hey guys,
Actually I'm the one who hosts Ryan's OCLF on the market. Google pulled it because they said it exploited Android due to the rooting ability. I'm working with Ryan to get it up again but it will end up being a new package. Google will not unsuspend the existing one.

I sure hope Google isn't turning all Apple on us with their Market policies. :| Being able to do whatever I want with my phone is one of the main reasons I <3 Android.

what's the latest version?

Any update on this?

RyanZa's New App

anyone see the "z4root" app on market by ryanza? i looked at it and i guess all it does is root. prolly easier then installing his OCLF just for the root option.

Yeah I decided to try it. It does what it says. It worked once for me. I tried it another time upon going back to stock, and it didn't work for me a second time.
Better stick with OCLF. More utility in there anyhow .
The new app also roots the Tab where the OCLF didnt work for me. Another solid app!
worked for me also
great app

Z4root on Bell JK4, Froyo 2.2

Hey everyone,
I flashed my SGS i9000m to 2.2 JK4 through using Kie last night. When I tried to use z4root to root the phone temporarily, the application crashed (no damage to the phone, since i can factory reset and wipe). However, from my understanding this app will work on 99% of the phone. So I'm curious and see if any other Bell who upgrade to JK4 have similar problem.
oh, another problem. I dont know why my clock on my SMS is screwed up. Like if you sent me a sms right now, the phone would display it was sent 6 hours ago. anyone know how to fix this ?
Thanks in advance everyone.

It has been said that z4root is not working on the jk4 firmware. RyanZA should be made aware of this.
As for your issue with texts and the timestamp... Are you using Bell or are you unlocked on a different provider?
If your not on Bell you need to install an app from the market that will fix this for you but im not sure what its called...

Thanks yiannisthegreek,
Yea. now i am pretty sure Z4root doesn't work on Jk4. So, so for those who wants to root their phone by Z4root, just wait until RyanZA comes out with a newer update.
and yea, im using FIDO at the moment. Anyone know what is the app for fixing timestamp called ?
sms time fix
z4root isn't working but I was wondering if installing busybox through titanium backup app would unroot the phone. I was able to restore my applications through titanium backup after installing busybox and restoring app does require a root so.... does it count as an unroot?
I'm with bell and z4root with 2.2 JK4 does not work for me either. Crashes after second screen and leaves device in unstable state. However, just rebooting phone is enough. (no factory reset needed).
z4root, JK4
Same here, Bell Vibrant, z4root does not work with JK4 (reboot and phone is OK).

Very unlikely.... It is no worse than installing some applications, mostly command-line tools (su, busybox).
This method was so quick and easy. Thanks for the suggestion guys/gals.

Updated to 2.2, how do you know if you're still rooted ??

Guys,
Thanks for the help in fixing my camera issues !!
My next question is, am I still rooted once I updated to 2.2 ?? The Market doesnt seem as extensive as it was when I was rooted on 2.1
I am pretty new at all this stuff, how can you tell if your rooted on 2.2, and if I'm not, how can I properly root it again ??

root and Market are not related. You need to change your phone fingerprint to the Nexus 1 to show all the protected applications again as Google does not recognize the DK28 fingerprint.
However, you need to be rooted to edit the file. See the following thread for the fingerprint. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848778

One way to check is to open up a terminal and type "su"
To get root back, use the one click installer.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770388
Or flash a Tom to get all the apps. If you want to find out if your rooted just download titanium from the market. As soon as you open it it will say asking for root rights.

ok, here comes the idiot question of the night....
is there any way to root my phone, without having to use a computer to download any files ??
When my friend originally rooted my phone when I was on 2.1, he didnt have to use a computer, he was able to do it right on the phone itself (not sure what he did, tbh)

To tell if you're rooted - install an app like Titanium Backup, which needs root to function properly. If you're not rooted, there won't be access to the market.
For root if you've lost it, your best option may be to install a custom ROM, which are usually pre-rooted. Besides, most custom ROMS are better than what comes stock. Which custom ROM will depend on your needs.

GingerBreak

anyone had a chance to look at this and try it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
I've heard it works but I have no need to try it
It appears that a few Droid X owners have successfully used this exploit, according to some of the responses in the link you provided. I'll be interested to see if this will work on the final Ginberbread OTA (keeping fingers crossed)!
I just tried it and it works. No problems arose.
That's definitely good news if the OTA comes out and it's got important tweaks that .588 doesn't have.

If wireless tether works for you then go ahead and use it, Verizon can only track the tbh hack. Some people have not been able tto get it to work

So that hack should be removed post haste or what?
Trust me it works fine on my droid x and i been looking to root for a while and had no luck, but this works!!

As long as you don't use it there will not be any problems
Just SBF'd to .340 and used the official update to .588, GingerBreak worked fine except I'm having issues getting Titanium Backup to recognize it has root. I get the prompt to allow it, but the app still says it doesn't have it. Other root apps, like adfree and autokiller memory work just fine. Hmf.
Scratch that. Just went back into TB, updated busybox and it's right as rain. Two thumbs up!
Works great for my DX, however, I need to un-root it and I've tried several ways from other forums and I am not having any luck.
Does anyone know the procedure to un-root for GingerBreak?
Edit: I don't have Gingerbread installed either, I'm just running 2.2.1 - I don't know if this makes a difference when trying to un-root this. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I've been scouring trying to find a solution and I've had no luck yet. I've tried rooting then unrooting when the one-click program and that isn't helping me either. Any suggestions??
I don't know if this can be answered but it doesn't hurt to ask. How come the ota cannot be rooted but the P3droid version of GB can be rooted? If its the same thing then what is the difference on why it cant be rooted?
Just going to guess here (this is speculation not fact) but I would assume that p3 being as skilled as he is was able to reopen the exploits used to root that motor/verizon closed in the ota.

it just has to be rooted before it's put onto the phone. once on the phone, it cant be done.

[ROM] Official OTA 1.70.605.0 Rooted, Deodexed, Busybox, Debloated

Since I didn't see this yet, and I'm not a fan of the bloatware in the RUUs are they come from verizon, I decided to take what was released so far and remove the stuff I didn't like.

Well I'm not too sure because I'm on Gingeritis 3D but on the bottom of the software update page (http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/09/verizon-pushes-latest-thunderbolt-update-solves-reboot-issues/) it says there is a thunderbolt desktop cradle app

Oh crap I feel like an idiot I looked at the list for the longest time. It says features and lists a VZW stuff under it. I completely glanced over the wording "debloated". Now I'm much less confused since i seen the word!
Haha no worries, ya the link u mention is what I source from, just ripped out all the Verizon stuff, and some of the other annoying apps that most time drop. Other than that, the system is exactly the same as the Rom you linked.

I downloaded the other link last night and just pulled everything using root explorer. Is there really wouldn't be much of a performance difference or then the bloatware correct?

The only difference is some of the app apks are removed, and will not start (some of them have background services that put a little extra stress on the system).
It's the same kernel however, the battery life is much better on the custom kernels - hopefully the source will be released soon for this cut and imosyon/adrynalyne can do something more with it to get battery life back up.

Did you do a full wipe and install the radio from the linked page? I didn't put step by step instructions because I figured by this point that would be pretty spelled out. If I need to, I can update the OP with more explicit instructions.

I did a full wipe, and this is not the first time the market acted up for me. It use to do it on my Eris, Dinc and now the thunderbolt. But I can install through the website which makes this just strange to me. I was using Flyweight Final with the 2.5 radio and had no issues but updated to current radio that came with the official MR2 update. Right now it doesn't matter what radio or rom I use I can not download from the android market on my phone.
Any ideas?

Hmmm.... only thing I can think of to check is a flaky mobile data connection if you are using that...... if you have it available see if you can link your thunderbolt to a known WiFi spot with the new OTA radio and access the market from there. I don't think it's software-based as I'm currently running the exact same rom on my phone and can get to the market in both WiFi and mobile data situations.
Good luck trying to use MMS on this. I'm working on a safe and useful debloat and to do it properly, it takes some time. I'll have it posted soon enough.

My ThunderBolt did the same thing for me with the non-Debloat that Jcase/RetroKid provided (again which none of these updates have some of the features listed on the official support PDF from Verizon)
MyMarket wouldn't even show the ThunderBolt in the account settings/devices list
it was just, gone, I synced it 3 times and still it didn't show up, i tried to download stuff, couldn't, so i was angry enough about the problems i started with and just flashed my MR2 nandroid from back in June and i'm back to normal.
this update was NOT ready for primetime, nor does it have the desktop app, or new App menu with the tabbed browsing, the same menu found on the Incredible 2 (which is Sense 2.1) when I confronted the devs about the rom not having some of those features they called me a liar and said well that was a Verizon typo, this update just fixes the reboot issues that is all " SO I have made a promise to myself to never deal with those bung-holes again. I absolutely hate Devs that think there either king of everything in this area or they think they can remove stuff and people won't notice or they can edit anything they wish and you have to put up with what THEY want. alot of good features and apps are lost that way.
anyway, that ends my rant
maybe i'll try this one but since its also provided by jcas/RetroKid I don't expect it to be any different...
anyone finding difference btwn this and bamf 1.8.6?
