Brick my g2? - G2 and Desire Z General

So out of nowhere my g2 doesnt read any sd cards i put in the slot. I have tried reformattin them n even factory reset my device and nothing. So heres the problem, im on virtous rom, n i have to send the phone back to get a new one, n i cant revert back to stock since my sd slot doesnt work. So the question is this, should i brick the phone so they cant see the hardware, or just leave it?

I have seen many posts like this and still have yet to see a good answer. I will tell you I have not heard of one single person ever getting in trouble for rooting they're phone. Its my opinion that they dont care or take the time to test it beyond powering up and checking for water damage. While more and more people root these days its still such a small overall percentage....

try another sd card??

You can try to revert to stock thru adb and fastboot. Takes alittle longer and just a few more steps but it is possible.
Phone: T-Mobile G2/Vision Rooted
Rom: Latest Cyanogen
Recovery: CWM waiting for Amon_RA

My phone had a similar problem. It would read the sd card then randomly it would unmount/remount on its own. This may sound silly but what I did was take some paper and put between the battery and the sd card slot to make sure it doesn't lose connection. Lol, Works now though.

How can i revert using adb? Is there steps?

[Q] Bricked HTC Mytouch 4G?

First off let me start by saying I now know what i did wrong. Next is there anyway i can fix it?
I didn't backup anything and then managed to erase everything... I have CM 6 but as of now all i can get is the boot screen. I tried recovery but that won't work becasue there is no backup. also Before I erased everything i managed to turn s on so now i have no way to turn that off correct? Im basicly looking for a way to restore my phone but if it cant be done then i understand. Right now I am using a samsung vibrant with Nero v3 voodo and understand how to install custom roms now
i have almost the same problem as you I don't know what to do I've looked everywhere.

What do you mean... erase everything? How?
Possible steps:
1. factory reset from H-Boot, see if it boots up normally, then re-root.
2. Install PD15IMG from development section, look it up.
Good luck.
Man, do I feel like an idiot...

Same issue here...I have nero v5 on my vibrant lol.
We should've just stayed with the vibrant...
Which recovery did you have installed and which h-boot
Did you try seeing if you could s-off through adb? Im not sure if this will work but Download the files you need to get s-off from ur computer and put it on ur SD card via a card reader or some sort, after you get the necessary files put the SD card back into ur phone. Hook it up to ur computer and maybe you can s-off through adb if you can get ur computer to recognize ur phone. Then IF it works, download a rom via computer to it SD card and boot into recovery and flash. Let me know what happens if it works or not

Should have taken my advice from this thread.
I just went thru the same thing and couldn't restore any of the backups it just kept getting stuck on the flash screen. I downloaded the ice glacier rom on to a spare sd card and flashed it thru hboot recovery and it looks like that did the trick.
hi guys if you still cant get your phones working try mobiletechvideos.com, they fixed my phone , my phone wouldn`t do anything .good reliable service, yes its in texas.
Although you didnt create any backups, is it possible that someone can create a backup of a fresh ROM and send that to you?

Just take the SD card and put a new ROM on it. Then go to recovery, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalkik cache.
Then install zip from sd card and find it.
I like using Royal Panache 1.3.
I think it's stock Mobilicity ROM but no stock software from carrier. Good stuff.
MIUI and Cyanogenmod 7.1 are also good candidates.
I'm currently testing out ICS and you can test it out as well (but in your case, probably try a working one first =P) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383629&page=1

Wrong, he just randomly revived a thread that last post was made in July 2011.

He revived quite a few of them, trying to market what I believe to be his product. Just look at his messages. Don't want to write the name of the product, since it appears he's scoring just for that.
I've reported his posts, but didn't see mod response yet.

Ruined my boss's HTC MyTouch 4G

I have an Epic myself and the security of this new HTC phone threw me for a loop. Anyway , I was trying to put CM7 on his phone , starting from stock. I managed to get CWM 3.0.0.5 on it and then flashed the CM7 from here. Now it is stuck on the white Tmobile screen , Ive let it sit therefor an hour and nothing. But the real problem is that I cant find a way to restore to stock and start over. With the Epic we use a windows program called ODIN in case something like this happens. Ive tried using ADB but the phone is showing offline so I cant push any commands to it. Is there an app like ODIN that will let me factory reset this phone and try this again? Thanks

Sounds like you rooted and flashed CM7 onto it without having s-off. If I'm not mistaking there is another thread similar to this one somewhere. Also you need cclockwork 3.0.0.6 to flash back and fourth from stock and other roms.
you need pd15img.zip on your SD
pd15img.zip reboot into hboot with that file and the part7-0000000000.bin file on your sd and it will load and ask you to push volume up to confirm then wait, it will restore the phone i know i did it, took me 3 damn days to figure out you need that part7.bin file on your sd with that pd15img.zip file...or its a no go, trust me this WILL def work...its a life saver, i did the same thing you did...had clockwork and no s=off...now i successfully restored it and sent it back to tmobile because before i solved it i panic and called for a replacement, told em it wont turn on, they sent the new one, and about 20 mins ago i flashed cm7 after folling this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996 to turn s=off...works great good luck
Where do i get the part7 file and the other one? Thank you

It was creates with you permanent rooted it.. should be on your SD card. In the rooting instructions it tells you to keep that file around.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Just make sure that u dnt keep tryin to flash the rom cause u gonna end up gettin the cant mount cache & data errors, which once that happens nothin can b done with the mt4g.. So if u used the gfree method to root the phone u should have the part7-xxxxxxxx.bin file, stick that to the root of the sd card & put the pd15 file to the root of the sd card, powerdwn or battery pull, reboot into recovery & let the phne do its thing..
I don't think he has that part7-xx......bin file for his mt4g phone since he did not run gfree patch. You can't do stock nandroid restore also because that requires CWM 2.5.1.4 but you can always give it a shot.
Good luck with your boss, hope you don't get fired.

I didn't use the gfree method for getting perm root.
So i never got that part7 file that you speak of....
I have found them online to download but even using someone elses i still doesnt load the .zip from hboot :{
I downloaded the glacier file , like 350 MB or something , renamed it to PD15IMG.ZIP (had to leave the .zip out because windows). Then I found the part7.bin file from another thread. Put both on sd card. Vol down and power, it found the pd15img file and started restoring the image. 15 minutes later the phone boots up just like brand new! Thank you to everybody who helped with this! Sometimes I dont know what i'd do without this place!
P.s.- he still wants gingerbread any suggestions as to best rom?
Thanks again everyone

I think you made a fine choice with CM7. Just make sure you are rooted and have flashed the latest clockworkmod through ROM manager (3.0.2.4 I believe) and it should flash without issue.

[Q] stuck in reboot loop with broken USB...can anything be done?

USB has been broken for a while....at the time i had Z's FreeX10 2.2 rom installed and running well recently updated to FreeXperia CM7.0.1 GB2.3.3 rom but realized that it had some bugs....accelerometer lag and a few other things. I was stuck on BB52 so couldn't flash newer GB 2.3.5 roms
Yesterday I found another rom that I decided to give a shot, this would put me back to froyo CM6.4, but this rom had GB features, and it was said to work on BB52 so i downloaded and flashed following the steps exactly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151933
Now my phone is constantly rebooting....no microSD (not mounted) no WIFI(error) no 3G...and as mentioned above my USB is broken. Can't get into xRecovery. When the phone loads i have a few minutes to browse before it reboots...so I have a short window to change some things.
I'm pretty sure there's nothing I can do to fix this, so it's basically a brick, but if you guys have any ideas...i'm willing to try your suggestions.
Thanks!
U probably need a baseband patch from coborato. Your probably on achjotans Rom. If u.can some how download that patch and flash it in recovery before it reboots you'll b fine. But honestly id get the phone repaired if I were u. These new gingerbread roms are amazing

Yeah that's the one i'm on right now. I did flash the baseband patch before booting into the new rom....that didnt help...and now I cant load into xRecovery. Tried repairing the USB port twice now, both times no luck. Official SE repair shop said that it's not repairable since the problem is with the main board. Ah well...gonna have to wait till my contract runs out Thanks for your suggestion tho.
Before when xRec had this "Unable to access SD card" issue...
I found an MicroSD USB adapter where i could just plug in my SD card into it, and it becomes an USB stick.
From that i just transfered a new rom/etc, then just unplug and jam it back into my phone.
Not sure if that helped at all but ya, if you have a broken USB Connection... that'll be a smart alternative~
Good luck mate,
J.T
I'd probably go with the above suggestion, get a micro sd card reader and transfer the needed files that way, boot into recovery and install them. Or whip out your tools and disasemble your phone and re-solder the broken usb if possible. Good luck with any way you choose!

thats so bad
If you could of access recovery that would of had been great because you could buy a card reader insert your sd install desired rom and flash whit recovery but not so sure about baseband since you have broken usb :/

Just a guess here, but maybe your internal SD card is going bad.

what happens if i change it? is it just a case of swapping it like for like? then the streak will set it up? i also cant access fastboot mode now tried using qdl tool but it cant access fastboot mode
is my streak goosed, cant get access to fastboot
o guys basically after flashing a rom my phone went bad, now i cant get access to fastboot, ive tried using the qdl tool but it also cant access flashboot, is there something else can do to get it back, it just sits at the dell logo
I just want to clarify that I am talking about the internal sd card, not the one behind the battery cover. I swapped mine out and the phone took care of setting it up and I flashed a stock rom to start off. No sweat. I also used a 4GB as the original was 2GB. Now I have plenty of room for apps and whatever without having to install apps on my external sd card. There are lots of posts here and on modaco that will guide you through disassembling your streak, if that's the route you want to take. Some of them have pictures as well. Another good site to check out is ifixit.com. They have a picture guide on the streak's disassembly as well. I can't help you out personally with disassembly, as I just cut a hole under the battery cover to access mine. Now I can change it out at will. If your streak is still under warranty, consider replacing it that way. I don't even think they look at them to see what's wrong, so a custom rom shouldn't matter. Worse scenario, they send it back to you.
ive already tried another 2gb card in the streak (internal card) still no joy
Well then, I don't know what to tell you. You may have a different hardware problem. You say you can't access fastboot, does that include using the adb command, adb reboot-bootloader ?
Got it now. Used an older version of qdl it flashed the files successfully now I'm back

stock Tmobile mytouch 4g (not rooted) stuck on the tmobile white screen

This is a stock htc tmobile mytouch 4gphone and it stuck on the white mytouch 4G screen. It stay on for a bit and it looks like static tv picture and then it reboots, After it reboots it goes back into the white screen and then it turns black and it has a picture of the phone with a green recycle symbol then it flash's and it another picture of the phone with a red triangle with exclamation point. when I pull the battery out and put it back in and try and go into (guess it like CWM) phone and hold the power button and the volume rocker button it go into recovery and when I go to factory reset and press the power button it wont do anything. can some one please help me with this.
Use the stickied thread for bricked phones. If you can get into bootloader, you can probably fix it. All the info you need is there.

Also, an eMMC is not the same as a NAND chip.
Will the, how to return to stock work for a non rooted phone. I need to know this before I try and download the zip files. I understand how to do it. I just want to make sure that it might work for a not rooted cell phone. Will the phone be able to read a zip file. Also when I go to factory reset and press the power button it wont do anything. I don't know if this will work but download the pd15img.zip for either 2.2 or 2.1 (sorry I forgot which the stock 2.x is) or if your on 2.3 download that one but the rom, not the radio. Before you do that format your SD card on the computer to fat32 and then try to install that but it will wipe every thing on your phone.

If you read that thread you'll find the answer to all of your questions. Stop panicking and do your research. Seriously. This phone has built in way to restore software problems. If the eMMC has crapped out or the bootloader is corrupt, then you're hosed. Otherwise, it's fixable.
