Syncing contacts, calendar from My Phone to Focus - Focus General

Hi.
Is there a way to sync contacts, calendar, etc. from My Phone (the one I used with Windows Mobile 6.5 on an HTC Pure) to the Focus?
Has somebody done this?
Thanks!

MyPhone is the old way.
Windows Live is the new way.

I used those instructions to sync my stuff over from my Tilt2, which then automagically moved through THE CLOUD! back down to my Focus. I could totally get used to this cloud stuff.

Request: Windows Contacts to Diamond

Hi guys!
I know it´s a freaking funny question, but: How difficult would it be to create a software that synchronizes the Windows Contacts with your Diamond?
I remember the easy life with my wifes I Phone: Plug in, Synchronize and DONE!
Now due to my trouble with Microsoft Outlook (it just crashed and can not be reinstalled so far!?) all my Contacts got lost after using Active Snyc... (my bad, i know )
How stupid can Microsoft be, to expect everybody having f..... Outlook?
Would be nice to hear any suggestions or EVEN a guy who´s eager to program that usefull thingy
Have a nice day,
Seco

there's also the microsoft myphone service (so far free)... haven't tried it - but i believe it's a great concept of having online backup of contacts & calendar, etc...
I've got all my contacts synced between the Diamond, my PC's Outlook and GMail contacts, by just using active sync. I also do periodic backups with PIMBackup just in case something bad happens and I lost any or all of them after a bad sync...

Microsoft Myphone

I just got the official nod from M$, and so far, this product is AWESOME!
Sync's more than Wireless Sync does, enables me to use Email and Web for Smartphone as opposed to the full bore 45 dollar feature, and just all in all makes me excited to have a cell phone again.
anyone have any gripes about MyPhone so far?
as an FYI, when I set it up o ny wife's xv6900, it took about 4 minutes, to sync her contacts, calendar, tasks, SMS, and her pictures. And I have horrid signal in my house.
Omnia here I come!
I am so glad I have a google sync-ish product for WM now. Sweet!
you know WM phones have had google sync for like a year now right?
i use it constantly, its fast, free, and reliable

Yeah I use google as well but myphone offers much much more: Contacts, Calendar PLUS Tasks, documents, photos. On the waiting list...
I had no idea google sync worked on winmo phones. Every time I looked it didn't give me any option like that.
Hence post.
Plus, its more comprehensive than google sync. I have used goo sync in the past, and I never liked it at all. It worked, unless my phone got swapped out for warranty or such the license was a pain to renew
yea you set it up as an active sync connection, i started using it when the 1.1 version of android was up and running, it was nice having all my contacts in both windows mobile and android

as an active sync connection? so it sync's my junk frm outlook?
I probably should have specified, as an OTA sync option. That was the only reason I used wireless sync, was for OTA sync of my information.
this is over the air, but you set it up like you would an email account using active sync on the phone, so your outlook contacts wont go into it unless you have it set that way when you sync to your computer
for the full scoop go here

seems to be a cool product for those who use Outlook. I am not one of them, so that wouldn't work for me.
Good to see they got something going on that though.

you don't need to use outlook, you setup an activesync connection w/ google, all your google contacts and calendar sync to the phone and vice versa. i use it to update my google calendar all the time because I don't use outlook at home.
To me, the true virtue of a backup program is the restore function. Has anybody used MyPhone to restore? How easy/difficult was it?

it was actually very easy, had to do a restore tonight, and it was done the exact same way as i set the program up in the first place. didnt have to worry about which way to sync, if i wanted or merge, the program knew what i wanted to do before i told it to do so...
Good but needs work
My Phone is an excellent idea - it does so much and very simply. One of the big showstoppers for me is the lack of a decent calendar - for example the My Phone calendar isn't connected to the Live calendar. I read it's in the works but until My Phone syncs with the Live calendar then it will be only for those who don't do multiple calendars / calendar sharing etc.
I just wish I could sync my sms with google sync. It's the only thing I'm missing

Transfer phone contact numbers to DHD

i had a TP2 and all my contacts numbers are backed up in microsoft outlook. What is the best way to get them from there to my new phone ?
I did this:

My contacts are stored in Windows Contact Book(My Documents>Users>MYUSERNAME>Contacts) HTC Sync provided with DHD wouldn't copy them to my phone, so I just installed HTC Sync 2.xx from Legend/Hero and it worked.
It's a good point actually.
If you have your contacts in outlook, then when you install HTC Sync from the phone it will copy all your contact details to the phone automatically.
I learnt that the hard way by syncing with my work computer and having nearly 5000 contacts copied to my phone. I had to yank the power quickly and hard reset before it tried to sync it all to gmail!
Yep here to

OK, I'm a newb to Android so I'm not sure I understand what you're discussing here.
Should I install HTC Sync 3.0 from the HTC website or is there a better way to get it working? The Desire HD isn't (yet?) shown in the list of compatible handsets on the HTC website for that version.
On the included SD-cart there is the program HTC Sync 3.0. You can copy the file to your computer and install it there. Works fine and you can synchronise all the contacts in outlook.

Thank you.
I've imported my contacts already via Google so that bit is OK. Has anybody had success importing the calendar entries onto the Desire HD?
Edit: OK, I had a go and yes: it's synchronised the calendar entries. But only back a month. Is there a way to extend the range so that the whole calendar is synchronised?
Edit 2: I tried something else. I don't think HTC Sync will do what I want. I'm moving from Windows Mobile/Outlook to Google/Android so I figured I really only need a one-time synchronisation. I found that Google has their own sync tool:
http://www.google.com/support/calendar/bin/answer.py?answer=98563
It's not compatible with the version of Outlook I'm using (2002) so I found other software called CompanionLink:
http://www.companionlink.com/android/outlook/
They offer a free 14-day trial of their sync software with which I'm uploading my entire Outlook calendar to Google and it's syncing with my phone in front of me. That's all I needed - I don't think I want to sync my Outlook calendar in the future since I won't be using Windows Mobile again. Time will tell if I'm right.

How to Sync Outlook Contacts with Dell Mobile Sync

OK,
I have attached a PDF on how to use the Dell Sync tool to sync your contacts. It would seem some folks are having issues with it.

How about the Outlook Calendar and Notes?
Thanks for the tutorial - it was helpful!
Is threre a way to synchronize Calendar and Notes from Outlook also?
From the Dell Sync tool, I do NOT see that you can sync the Calendar and Notes.

You can only use dell sync tool, since Dell Mobile Sync powered by Nero is for Android Froyo 2.2.
whatever I do, it will show 5 hours estimation time of syncing my 1400 contacts., and whenever I let it sync once I return to my comp to xheck it will say sync success 900 failed 500. Stewpid nero program. Even I tried to unmount the sd card, in hoping to prevent nero to even think to sync media files, it just says error, I must mount the sd card
Play Pass the ball !!
Well,
In this regard, I must say my Gene WM 6 / 6.5 with Activesync was really cool!
The sync happened just fine, and considerably fast too!
There has to be some workaround, other than Nero's Groundbreaking Research Software.
(I have tried MPE and some other, but, dont seem to work for me!)
I finally had to beam my contacts from my WM to dear Streaky.
then, Streak asked me whether to save all contacts,
I said, yes please..
And, they were added!
care,
Sony.
A much easier method is to simply open a new Google account.
Install the Google Desktop Sync onto your PC, and it will sync all your Outlook Contacts and Calendars with the Google account ... which the Streak will also happily sync with over-the-air.
Voila - wireless syncing from Outlook.
The real beauty of this method is that it doesn't rely on any part of the Streak (or any other phone) - when you buy a new phone, you just point it at the same Google account to pull all your information.

Not syncing Google contacts or connecting with Dell Sync
Ok guys, I recently recovered my precious Streak from what I thought was a lost cause from being bricked....
I ran the QDL tool and everything went off without a hitch.
I tried to install Clockwork but all I kept getting was a black screen and so I finally flashed Streakwork and now all is good. I will mention that I have QuickBoot installed and when I try to tell it to get me to the Recovery screen it just boots right back into Android. But I'm still happy, using the volume buttons is no big deal...
So after I got Streakmod installed I immediately upgraded to Streakdroid...
SO here is the situation, plain and simple... my Streak is not syncing with anything else. I have my Gmail account configured and it's been a week now and my contacts and calender have yet to reflect what's in my Gmail account. Likewise when I connect the Streak to my computer, it will not sync up with the Dell PC suite.
I have tried clear all user info and starting over and yet it does nothing. When I connect the phone to the computer, I can see Android ADB device in the device manager, yet the Dell Suite won't recognize the phone.
I would also like to ask, where can I get a stock ROM that I can flash as easily as DJ Steve's Streakdroid?
If that is not possible... then I wanna ask if I run the QDL tool to get back to stock 2.2, will I loose Streakmod and root?
Thanks guys, hope y'all can help!!

For anyone who wants full outlook syncing plus a bunch of other awesome features, use "myphoneexplorer" and skip the dell software. You will not regret it.
I use it everyday.
Also, it's free.
Hands tied with myPhoneexplorer
yeah, that is one way to go but it is very restrictive. I have MOST of my contacts with several phone numbers and emails for each and myPhonexplorer doesn't jive with the customized fields so it's really no good to me because it's so simple

I don't know anything about the Gmail issue, but the Sync is four steps for me.
1) Start the Sync application on your pc.
2) Start the Sync widget on your phone.
3) Connect phone to pc.
4) Wait a few seconds while they find each other.
This doesn't resolve one very basic problem in that Sync is a Nero product. It doesn't do contacts, only media.

Sync Contacts - Outlook / Note

Since Kies doesn't work with some of the latest ICS custom ROMs, can anybody recommend a good utility to syncronise contacts between Outlook & the Note, or as an alternative Outlook & GMail
Thanks
Take a look at Gsyncit. It costs, but it works. Sync is from Outlook to/from the Google cloud and then between the Google cloud and your phone(s). That should make it independent of the ROM on your phone.
My girlfriend has a copy running between Outlook 2010 and Froyo on her Motorola Defy. I have a copy running between Outlook 2003 and my GB Note, and ZTE Blade on Eclair and GB before that.
It means that sync can occur in the background and you don't have to take any positive action to force a sync between laptop/PC and your phone. So long as they are each on the net at some point the sync will just go ahead automatically.
I might add that for the first year of use there did seem to be some instability, with Outlook sometimes being crashed by the plugin on startup, but never any data loss as a result. For the last several months - certainly all of 2012 so far - it has been faultless for both of us.
Hi tdodd,
I have a similar question, my father uses a HTC Touch Pro, and has around 1000 contacts on it.
I have finally convinced him to upgrade to the Galaxy Note, but now I need to solve the sync problem of all his contacts.
The biggest problem that I think I will have will be that outlook always shows the Last name first and only than the first name. Would the Gsyncit program identify correctly the names or would I need to edit each contact to change the first name and last name?
I am looking right now for a way to transfer the contacts from Windows Mobile 6.1 to the Android 2.3.6.
Can SMS and Call logs be transferred also or those ones would get lost?
Thank you all for your help.
To my knowledge and experience Gsyncit will sync contacts, calendar events, notes and tasks. Maybe there is new stuff in Outlook 2010 which I don't know about, but for me it does not sync call logs or SMS messages because, apart from anything else, Outlook 2003 does not hold such information.
As for contact field mapping, in Outlook you have individual fields for surname, forename and other parts of the name if required. The "File As" display is assembled within Outlook from those individual fields if they exist. If you only input data to Outlook in the File As field then I'm not exactly sure how that gets handled, but it should sync across one way or another.
Since Gsyncit is only responsible for sync between Outlook and the Google Cloud it should not matter which Android phone you have because it is down to Google/Android to take care of the sync between the cloud and your own device. That part of the sync has nothing to do with Gsyncit.
If you have a Windows 6.1 device (I used to have a WM5 phone before moving to Android) then it should be simple to sync contacts into Outlook using MS tools. Once in Outlook you could use Gsyncit to sync the Outlook contacts up to the cloud and then let Google sync from the cloud to the Android phone.
However, if it is a one off exercise only, with no sync back and forth required in the future then I believe you can export the contacts from Outlook to a CSV file and then import the CSV file to Google on the web from where they will propogate to the Android phone. For such a one off exercise there is no need to purchase Gsyncit at all.
When I bought Gsyncit for myself there was a free trial available for something like five days and 20 contacts/events. So you can always give it a spin for free and see if it does what you need, assuming the trial is still part of the offering. My purchase was 20 months ago.
p.s. Google finds it easily enough, but here is a link with reviews - https://www.google.com/enterprise/m...ductListingId=4262+17155367427235402467&pli=1

Kies should work. You might need to switch the mode your Note is connecting to the computer.
I used this app when I was having issues and Kies works perfectly again.
