Fishy Stuff

So, we all know that TW and Eugene recently got access to a full T-Mobile Vibrant Froyo leak. This means great things for our phones in the very near future.
We all also know that ebaitr8's Froyo was a complete hoax, and got us good. There was also some other user, who seemed to have contact with ebaitr8, and was displaying very odd behavior.
But what doesn't make any sense is the fact that our devs got the leak within hours of the whole ebaitr8 episode.
This can't be a coincidence... right?
I think there is definetly a correlation between the two events. What do you guys think?

why? we have the right to discuss this don't we?

It doesn't take much to put the pieces together. Delving into this too much in a public forum may end up jeopardizing future releases and possibly people's jobs.
Let's just be thankful for what we got and let this thread die, at least until official releases are available.

ding ding ding you are correct... we have froyo so just enjoy

OH GOD, give me a break. Nobody's job is on the line, it's not that serious.
Yes, I too find it very odd that ebaitr8 turned out to be a hoax, yet just a couple hours later the devs had Froyo.
If the devs knew there would be a backup person leaking froyo anyway, why even entertain ebaitr8? Why give ebaitr8 so much attention and time?
I think ebaitr8 either did pull through and did send the system dumb, and the devs are just lying and covering it up, or something else happend. Either way it is very odd, and really, so stupid, nobody wants the first and last name of the person who sent it, its just froyo not secret intelligence.
Plus, isn't it so convenient the devs supposedly can't release the stock froyo? Forcing us to install their roms.
Just my thoughts, thats all.

ugg you need to read more about releasing things that will get ppl in trouble. All they could do is pull what they neeeded to get their roms to work. Does it matter where it came from? not one bit.

Really? You think that if you worked for T-Mo or Samsung that it wouldn't be that serious if you leaked the ROM? Would you risk your job on the chance that the ROM has watermarks and can be traced?
Someone leaked the ROM, and that person is being extra careful because it's possible it could be traced back to him or his workplace. If we want to continue to see unofficial leaks, it's best the community respect the wishes of leakers. Trying to "out" the leaker can only lead to one thing--a complete shutdown of people "on the inside" taking risks to help us.
Seriously, let's give it a rest.

I was just intrigued by the correlation between the ebaitr8 episode and the leak. Not the actual leaker.

just drop the issue its pretty obvious where the ROM came from........
dont make a big deal out of it so we can continue getting leaks in the future

JK2 is so far from being ready, I'm leary of it being ready any time in the near future for OTA/Kies updating. The SD card issues are annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoying, time consuming and could result in potential data loss. Other various problems.
The album art is FINALLY clear in the music player though! Love that!

Why my releases now say "Not Available"..

That's about it for me. But first a point or two.
Why I came here, what I hoped to provide and why I'm done:
I will be the first one to acknowledge that TW have this thing down way better than I do! I am running Nero Beta 3 as I am typing this! It would have taken me forever to come up with a 2.2 mounting fix, FOREVER. Even more, they were kind enough to give me my own repo on their site. They have been great to me and I have learned so much from them.
BUT, I wanted to provide a little variety for people between the Eugene/Master/TW releases. I think I did just that.
Mjollnir: My first try at a rom, nothing more that just a really, really big theme.
sXe: My second try which included backwards compatible framework.
Volholl: My JK2 / JK6 / JL1 Hybrid
Volholl Valkyrie: Pure JL4
Volholl Ragnarok: Only known 2.2.1 port released for Vibrant, with working wifi and gps - even with the signal related soft boot bug, I was the only one brave enough to put it all on the line and release it,
Volholl PepperKake : Pure JL5 with all images, sounds plus, plus ripped from Nexus S dump
How is it so easy to criticize someone who spends countless hours putting something together for you for free? When you have done nothing for the community other than demand more?
As far as I know, everyone respects sombionix, yet even he has had to come on here and defend a stock release because everyone kept complaining that it MAY have included TW init - which it didn't.
So, that is my rant.
I will continue to release Roms, Themes, whatever you decide to call them - they just won't be posted on XDA for a while, or ever..

Sorry to see it came to this man since I think you have provided some really useful stuff. Sad how people feel the need to troll and criticize things needlessly but I will continue to follow you else where.

Woahhh... Wait, what happened.? I got back within the hour from being with family on Christmas.. More people trolling & flaming people? Didn't we just have a town hall meeting?

Yeah but some people just don't appreciate the hard work of you guys. All they do is come here and complain over little insignificant things because they apparently font get enough attention at home. I am new to this forum and I was lucky enough to grab your Nexus clone for the Vibrant. I absolutely love this rom. That is all.

Honestly, the Vibrant section of this site is going to hell with all these pr*cks pissing off those that actually do something for others. These are the worst of the worst, because not only do they not do anything, but they keep others from doing work as well. Do we really have to be such a$$es while offering criticism?

I have a pretty short memory. I do get mad but it doesn't last forever. I'm testing the next release of the pulled rom right now with the new audio and gps settings and the crt shutdown sequence.

Agreed....I for one respect all the hardworking developers (and other people who take out the time to post something that others benefit from) and really dislikedislike those who try to mess it up for everyone because they have nothing better to do...

I know I am really enjoying your latest rom. Out of all the roms available yours is the one I am using.

gotta say, i've never flashed one of your roms, but don't stopping making them available.
some people are douches and don't deserve what the community does for them.
what have they done?
just keep on keepin on. if for no other reason than you are, i'm sure, learning a bunch of cool **** and having fun.

Its 100% verizon fascinate froyo build, it was leaked like 2 days ago.

Things don't usually take two days to hit forums.
Unless it looks like someone could get fired for the leak.
Fascinate users are HUNGRY to not be on eclair.

I'm new here and as such, a lot of people won't give a sh*t what I have to say, but I'm not PMing ANYBODY. This leak will make it to us sooner or later. Personally, I'm waiting for punkkaos (whom I've donated to) or jt to release either a non-traceable version, or a deodexed, rooted version, which I'm sure they will do when they are good and ready.
I'm guessing that will be by Monday, but either way I'm not going to bug someone or (potentially) cost someone at Samsung or VZW their job. We will have it when we have it. It's not like they're holding it back to be pricks.

Cyanogenmod (like kaosfroyo) is better software. Hopefully this new group build will help that rom move forward more anyway.
I'm tired of samsung's junk software. The developers around here will make good work of the froyo leak, if it's out.

Yeah, that's my point. I think it got lost in there somewhere, but my point is that this thread is neither about development NOR is it useful. Unless the OP knows Masri, I think it's kind of a d*ck move to tell the forum to PM him. No offense, OP, that's just how I see it.

I know masri, he is a good man. If he says he truly has a leak and is serious then he does. He may just be protecting his job. But I've been hone since the irc server went to Droid life so what the **** do I know?

I am personally very happy that Kaos is working on anything for the fascinate, but i have grown to really like touchwiz, it is the best skin I've used, much better than sense. I've tried the vanilla froyo and cyan, but I'm holding out for touchwiz 2.2.
Also, mods need to shut this topic down.

Hey, I just got into rooting about a week ago and I'm currently using the super clean DL30. the device works like a charm now; exactly how I just wished it worked since the day I got it.
I was wondering how the Devs do it; how do they find the time to develop roms and such for us (It seems like its a heck of a job to do)
Also I'm wondering, where can I donate? I really appreciate the job that people are doing and I'd like to help

All of them actually work for Samsung. True story.

First of all : Sorry for bumping a thread this old. I did this not to start a new one.
The update status on Moto's website has changed. We're not even sure we're getting ICS or JB, but we're almost sure of one thing : Moto has intel that if released may help us getting a stable CM10 ROM with almost everything working (HWA, Camera, Fingerprint scanner..?).
There is no time to lose. Moto didn't put the Atrix in the list of deprecated-devices-that-doesn't-deserve-an-update YET. And we found someone who can possibly help us getting this intel a month ago : Punit Soni.
How to act ? Simply put a comment on a post on his G+ profile.
DO NOT SPAM HIM.
Just leave a comment, with your feelings, your feedback, how much you love your device (Or not..?), and how much WE need this release.
If we're enough (~20-30), our voice can be heard. It would cost nothing Motorola to release these drivers, and we're waiting for them for too long. Nvidia is one of the worst company ever with its community/clients. The operators are too big, they won't listen to us and I don't think they really care about an almost-legacy device that doesn't even bring them money anymore.
If someone knows a dev at Motorola, TELL US (PM me, or anyone who would be OK to try getting in touch with the devs).
It's up to us to make this release come sooner.

I genuinely do feel the pain of folks here. And we really do want to change things. Based on the four weeks I have been around, I can say that two things are going to happen in the future: we will make informed commitments and once we make them we will do everything we can to meet them. Second, we will as transparent as possible given the constraints that software pushes like these are complex and have many dependencies. We have a plan, according to that plan, Bionic is going to ICS soon. I will next dig into ATRIX and we will have updates/clarity soon. Now I also know no answer I give is going to assuage everyone and things cannot be made right overnight.
I also can't say I will be able to be as plugged into the community all the time because it just doesn't scale. But I hope you see that Motorola- Google really does care. Even if we are not able to make everyone happy all the time at least in the short term while things are still being fixed.
