Is this the dock from samsung?
unfortunatly they sell it to international users who are getting Froyo as we speak.
but its pretty certain we'll get froyo anyways
I cant imagine they'll release it for everyone but us lol
its just taking longer than we like.
And here I thought it was not a matter of "if" but of "when" ....
I am more than certain that we'll get the update, but like the dude above me states "when"? Until then upgrade to JK6 and enjoy. This phone is a very good phone with the exception of the laggy software and gps issues some are having. Just yesterday a coworker was showing off his Evo and laughed at my phone. He said it's nothing compared to his Evo and that his phone has the best camera and screen. I embarrassed him when we did a video test. Everyone around was shocked by how the Vibrant performed. He was bragging about having 8.1 megapixels and when he seen the video test (we recorded a 30 second video of the samething and then played a movie) he asked how much megapixels I have and I said sarcastically "5". He then hit me with the can your phone upload videos straight to youtube? I laughed and said "what do you think this is, yes it can upload videos". The only thing his phone beat me in was video calling and a flash for camera. Who needs video calling though? The moral of this story is enjoy life with your Vibrant, it's a super phone!

Just ask him to play a 3D game like Reckless Racing on Advanced/Gold.. the EVO will EVOLVE into a stuttering hot mess.
I have no problems with lag, if you do - reinstall your firmware or wipe your data or SD cards.

It's funny that I just read your comment and he just walked in the break room. I'm gonna leave him alone. He doesn't know better. I don't have lag with games or video. I only experience lag when I open certain apps like the call dialer. I notice when I'm on the call dialer and I press the back button it will close the app, but if I hit the home button while in the dialer it will appear to be closed so next time I click on the dialer it pops up in no time. I hope I didn't confuse you or anyone with my statement about the dialer. If I did continue reading till it makes sense.

I was honestly surprised as well. I took some video at a concert (extremely loud) and it did a good job of maintaining sound quality and the video quality was pretty great as well. The biggest problem was me being able to hold the damn thing steady... but that was a situation/personal issue, not the phone/camera itself lol.
To begin with I was dissappointed with the camera bit recently have take. Some really great pics. Better than the inspire. And im Starting to like the screen colors too. There is also quite a lot you can do post pic taking in the viewer app.

The camera IS pretty good. A lot of people seem to think it sucks...but from all I've seen by using it, its actually kinda nice.
Yea but quicktime is what sucks because it trys to cache the whole 1.2gb before playing

You did that with the phone? I mean, the Atrix?
I like.
Gotta watch the whole thing but do you have those guys riding and bucking on this clip later?
Thanks for the share!
Slow download speed ill let it run though to see im curious now lol
I think it is awesomely bad. I was playing around with my Dad's Atrix and all of the pics seem a little blurry. I thought there might be a lens cover from the factory and looking at it, it certainly doesn't seem as clear as it should be. I tried picking at it but it wasn't going anywhere. Anyone discover a lens cover on their phones?
Downloaded the video... looks great! I'm impressed. Haven't taken video with mine yet, but yours looks great even though (I'm sure) the lighting couldn't have been that good in that arena. Very nice!
Some one should start a "Pictures taken using my Atrix" thread :x that way I can compare to what I have

There might be an issue with the adhesive use for the lens cover. Bring it in to AT&T and see about getting a replacement. My pics look clear.
Make sure you wipe down the lens. It picks up dirt and fingerprints so easily.
No really. Every time I want to take a pic, I take a look at the lens window and it's dirty.
Minjin - there is no cover on the phone out of the box.

My sister's fiance' works at Sprint, and always has a bunch of phones around. I was over last week, and he had an Echo, an Arrive, and some Sanyo phone. The thing that had me most concerned about the Echo, was the quality of that contraption of a hinge on it. I was afraid I was going to break the thing. I held my Evo right next to it, and even with the screen unfolded on the Echo, it wasn't that much bigger than the screen on my Evo. It was still fun to mess around with though. And it was kind of cool that it came with an extra battery and external battery charger. Wish the evo came with that!

There's no doubt that the iPhone will have to come to Sprint in order to compete in the market. (Wait I take that back, unless the FCC allows the destruction of the market)
I most definitely, will not.
I would go back to cans and string before buying anything made by Crapple.
It would be good for my wife. Needs something simple for basic things like taking pics, videos, music, phone calls, etc.

I agree with you. I would get it for my wife as well. She has an Optimus S now which is her first Android device and she's still figuring out to work it after having it for 3-4 months. her phone is basically stock...smh lol.
She was in love with the iphone 3Gs but I convinced her to switch to Sprint so that I could get the Nexus S 4G and possibly the Evo 3D...lol.
But yeah, I'm definitely not getting an iphone.
I MOST DEFINITELY will be switching. Without I doubt in my mind. I went from G1 > iPhone. The only reason I switched to sprint is because of the employee discount. It would feel good to go back home...

If they add LTE to the version coming out later this year with a bigger screen ill definitely consider getting one. **** loyalty to a brand I like my phone to work.
This makes sense and it will be interesting to see how this Android v Apple battle plays out when the iPhone is available on every major US carrier. I had an iPhone in the past and while its a fantastic device, its not the phone for me. My wife may be interested though...
It would have to have a 4"+ screen and android being boot locked and watered down for me to consider it.
Wouldn't even consider it without a 4"+ screen.

I was wondering why do all the evo owners that's bashing the nexus s as a inferior phone are the same ones making threads about being on their 4th evo replacement? I'm a evo owner by the way and I'm on my launch one, no problem.

A lot of people apparently hate samsung for phone quality and lack of updates. I have an Evo, and I've had a samsung phone before [not a smart phone], but it never did me wrong. And I have my 32" Samsung LED tv...beautiful. I have nothing against them, personally.
People can't live without conflict and trying to aggravate each other.
I owned a Samsung Epic and an Evo. I'm posting this from my Evo because the Samsung just wouldn't work after the froyo update. Samsung's support is worthless imo. My wife and sister in law both have Samsung Intercept's and their about to get different models of phones because those phones are worthless and the Sprint rep I've been talking to knows it so...
As for the new phone, maybe they fixed the many issues plaguing their other phones but my old Epic's (yes, I tried 4 different ones...) Gps could only get a lock down to 6 meters vs the Evo's 1 meter, and the bluetooth stack on froyo just sucked. Sounds would stop playing, I missed lots of calls... Until they prove themselves again that they can make a product and support it, they won't see a dime of my money.

Some such as myself want to always move onto bigger and better things and Samsung have the potential to be that and do that as that's what they're always selling (See Epic 4g) and they always come up short. The Instinct was dubbed the original iphone killer [email protected], Samsung Epic was supposed to be better than the Evo and it's still crippled with GPS issues and now this phone even with it's supposed better screen still has issues with the color white (with the blue tint) and this day and age releasing a phone with not even a micro SD slot for expandable memory. Samsung is a company that pushes you to almost want to love them, then gives you reasons to LOATHE them. And I mean really loathe them.

ROFL thanks for making my drink the new accessory to my laptop keyboard!
Going from an evo to a nexus s is like going from a BMW to Mercedes; your BMW(evo) is the complete package and still up to date yet you want the Mercedes (nexus) because your BMW has a little extra mileage on it. The nexus s isn't worth leaving the evo why waste your upgrade on a phone that's barely superior. I'm not bashing it I'm just saying who cares about the "pure google experience" that single core processor will be out of date by the end of 2011. I'm not saying the evo 3D will be the best but I wont waste my upgrade on that plastic single core Samsung phone lol.

Well, been using my GS3 for about 4 days now and I must say that I am somewhat underwhelmed by it so far. The jump between my EVO to the Epic 4G Touch was much greater than that from the E4GT to the GS3 (as expected). However, there are 3 gripes that I just bothering me more than I initially thought they would:
1. Camera - The Epic 4G Touch's picture quality is light-years ahead than that of the GS3. This is really unacceptable for a flagship device. Sure, the shutter speed is quite fast, but the quality is just not there. Part of the reason I skipped over the Galaxy Nexus was the camera inferiority to the E4GT and here I am with the GS3. The HTC EVO LTE at the store seemed to take amazing pictures. Haven't compared them side-by-side, but I feel I'll be more disappointed if I do.
2. The power button - I don't see a lot of people complaining about this, but I'm having a difficult time adjusting to the power button. The curved bezel in conjunction with the flushness of the button makes it hard to find/press it most of the time. Even though it feels quite clickable, it takes some digging around every time I need to use it. I'm hoping that the Slim Case I ordered will help with this as the cutouts will guide me better. It's a small gripe, I know, but it's enough to annoy me.
3. Speed - I know that this phone will smoke most of the competition, including the E4GT, but I'm not really blown-away by it. Once the apps are opened (which I admit to being quite fast), it seems to take longer for the information to download and appear (Play Store, Facebook, etc). I don't know if it's the connection or the phone itself. Never had this issue with the previous phone.
That's about it really. I know it's nothing major, but it's enough to taint my experiences. I'll give it another week before I decide what to do with it. But I'm really leaning towards the HTC EVO LTE (even though I find it hideous) or just going with a Galaxy Nexus (and not have to worry about future upgrades, etc).
Sorry about the rant... just had to let it out.
Speed -
You don't feel smoothness , and fast information because android
The problem is not the device , its the software
Android is still "buggy" , i have Asus Prime Tegra 3 -and i dont feel smoothness
Maybe next android version will be more smoother and faster
Just return it and stop complaining

The power button on mine is not quite right too, it is less flushed against the bezel compared to the volume rocker and creaks at the touch, it also feels spongy when pushed. That's not enough to slate the phone though because I know the capabilities of this beast hence I'm waiting for my exchange. If yours is the same ill advise you to do the same.

You're using the Sprint version right? If so, why are you posting in the international GT-I9300 forum?
Plus, it's already been quoted in several reviews that the US versions have a slight lag during usage that the international version does not. Just return the phone and move on.
@Stea1thmode: Thanks bud! Will do!
@everyone else: Take your meds and learn to deal with criticism.
This phone was really smooth for me. Bur my major problem is not being able to get into download mode.
The screen is also mediocre. =/ Wondering if I should have bought LG Optimus 4x instead, I only picked this phone for the custom firmwares..
There's nothing worse than having an S3 on Sprint. It's bad enough that you have to deal with the inferior CPU, but also the non-existent LTE network that is set to debut sometime between now and when hell freezes over.
why do US variant owners come to the international section to B!TCH and complain?????
