Hello XDA!
I was just wondering if the stock Android keyboard can be modded or not? Because if it's possible, I'd like to mod it to look like the WP7 keyboard.
Other: I'm on a Mac.
I never heard of "modding a stock android keyboard" before. But you can find other keyboard in the android market that suit your need. Some are free, and some are paid version.

I really don't like the HTC_IME! Hm, I guess this can be closed, then.

whats wrong? android has a nice ui.
Android theme
I guess I'm the only one that wants to see a simple clean theme. That may not be a good thing for Google. Maybe they should rethink this whole android thing.
i'd like an Android Theme too, or why not Android on my Windows Mobile Phone ?
Sadly i'm no good at skinning/themeing and the likes, but maybe someone will jump at this chance, who knows...
Great thread!

many WM phones have partially functional, bootable android builds....they run in RAM, as little as 64MB (Titan/Mogul)....think linux live cd's....
i imagine, when it is officially released, most WM5 and all WM6 PPC phones will be able to run android...
on any screenshot i found android looks different, so anyone knows the (nearly) finall look of android (picture please).
try this on ur own risk....

yes but i was wondering if there was any others
because its not very "iphone like"
And only the iphone keyboard is good? Fingerkeyboard is such a great application it makes the touch pro keyboard look like a phat battery addon.
If you want the iphone keyboard so bad, buy one those crappy toys, pay a lot of money for a phone with 5 seconds of enterainment value and 0 seconds of usefulness
The resco keyboard is pretty much like the iphone one... but its not free

what you mean??
pm you for the resco keyboard??
P.S please pm me if you have the resco keyboard link/download for free
you should look into the new topaz/rhodium htc keyboard as its really very fast and much better than the iphone keyboard in my opinion. I have actually tried both for a fair amount of time and can say that the htc keyboard feels more satisfying and lets you type quicker. also, the keys atleast reflect the case (capital or non-capital) being used

I'm looking for a better sms app for my HD2 (Winmo 6.5) also, like ChompSMS or Handcent for Android.
where is the touchpal keyboard? did they take it out of market?
I think so. The developer told me they are working on it and should release it end of the year.. hope so..

I was on the market. I installed it. It is not near as great as the winmo version. Needs a minimize key like the HTC keyboard.

Hi,
I saw a demo of the keyboard app on the Sony Ericsson X10 phone and it seems to be pretty nice!
Anyone know if it's possible to extract the app so it can be used in other android devices?
Edit: Added screens
not many of us even have the device yet... so i'm not entirely sure how hard anything will be without root.
secondly i'm not sure this has much to do with android development.. might be better off in the themes and aps section .. being that you are asking about an app?

Anyone can extract the input.apk for install with x10?
I am buying a x10 in a non-chinese market and i am afraid that it doesn't come with chinese input..
I bought my phone in Belgium and it has a Japanese keyboard.
the keyboard of the x10 is not good. I'm now using the HTCkeyboard which I have download here on th Xda forum.
Sent from my X10i using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
I agree, the first thing I did was install the HTC keyboard, I miss the left and right arrows however.
