Hi,
I want to design a Application witch shows a Map with places of some Mangastories for the G1. For this I want to have two tabs. On the first tab a list of Manga witch can selected and on the other tab I want to show it in a Map. Ok, i read the tutorial for the TabWidget and for the MapView, but how can i put the MapView into the Tab? My problem is that the class extends form to different class! First I think that i have to create a second class witch include the mapview. After i done this, i want to implement it in the tab class, but i have no clue if i am right! Or how to implement in the xml file?
The second idea was, that i writ a interface! But i think this is also the wrong way!
So please help me!
Hi All,
Is there a tool which can get Cell id and LAC from command line for it to be used by other apps
Say I have script (mortscript)
Then I can call <Cellid APP> and get Cellid location where the device is
Then take action based on the Cell id.
Idea is to track the phone and let the owner know where all the phone on a web page.
I go from HOME -> LOC1 -> LOC2 ->Office (everyday)
Incase phone shows a path HOME -> LOC1 -> LOCX -> <UNKNOWN> .. the send a TEXT(SMS)/update page etc ... to alert the users.
Kind of way to make your phone secure.
Any suggestion if it can be done with any exiting tools and mortscript etc ...
http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/tools.html
has something called riltest ...
riltest - dumps all kinds of info from the phone via ril
But the zip files does not have this file... Could any one let me know if this file is available any where else.
Ok Got a riltest from Another forum which does similar ... ALMOST....
what it can do is dump all to a LOG file ... I am using a Mortscript
1. Run the app
2. make app to dump logs
3. get the details from the file.
4. close the app.
Now loop this for with a sleep ...
But still looking for better way.. Attached is the file for anyone who is looking for similar stuff.
Hi,
I too was looking for something in this line and ended up writing it myself.
Props to this chap for the code to get me started:
http://dalelane.co.uk/blog/?p=241
Basically you call 'RilCmdLine.exe' with a parameter indicating what field you want. It returns the field as an int to MortScript (I think you need MortScript 4.3b1 or above?).
Supports LAC, Country Code and Cell Tower ID.
The zip includes a test mortscript - you may just need to edit the path to RilCmdLine.exe
(Source code on request. I may even support it )
Hope this helps!

Hi
Thanks for the exe file. However I am unable to see any result when I run the exe/mscr on my mobile (HTC 3300 WM6). I did edit the path also executed from cmd line on mobile.
Also Mortscript RunWait and Run will not return any results as per the Mortscript doc. So the result has to be redirected to a file.
Could you please check and let me know if the exe is required to be executed with different parameters.
Thanks
What version of Mortscript are you running?
I had to upgrade to 4.3b2 to get the return code from the exe.
Get it here
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=download&action=view&entry=125
In the notes for b1 mentioned the return code functionality being added.
Hope this sorts it for you
Perfect !! Thats works perfectly ... I updated to MortScript you have suggested.
Excellent Work !! ... Really good. Thanks man
Will it be possible that if I don't pass any Command line parameter ... Can I get all the values... Like CELL ID, LAC etc ..
Glad you like it
Unfortunately you can get all the values at once (at the minute you can only return numbers from the exe, so there is no way to separate them).
My original idea is something along what you suggest - if I get that working I will post a new exe up here.
Thanks
Thanks onionfx! This is just what I was looking for as well. Trying to do something similar to what wishme said. ;-) The common profile switchers out there are not very useful to me because I'm more of in a rural area, and cell towers are farther apart, so my home and work cellid overlap sometimes, so I want to also take into account signal strength to see if I can fine tune it better. Will probably use Mortscript since it's the only thing I've learnt to code with for Windows Mobile.
I'm bookmarking this page to see if you eventually get the prog to output all in one line (and reduce the CPU churn of calling the same prog several times).
BTW, how about also returning nearby cells in order of signal strength? That would be awesome to fine-tune your location even more!
Good work!
Cesar
Doing some thinking about this
I can't see any way of returning all the values at once.
The C code can only return an int in the range -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647 and my CellID and LAC are 5 digits each so if they ever started with a digit greater than 2 I couldn't return it.
The 2 best options I think are writing another exe that dumps the data either to a file, or to the registry in a similar way as riltest above, but without the UI part.
Then write a script that could be included, and which has nice subs to access each parameter (or you are free to write your own script calls to do this).
I'm tending to the file as I imagine reading from the registry is a bit slower than reading the file (in one go and storing all the params as variables)?
Also I can do less damage if I use a dedicated file!
Anybody got any better ideas, or has a good reason to use the registry?
Goodnight
Are we talking about GSM signal strength
REGISTRY entry: HKLM\System\State\Phone\Signal Strength (DWORD value)
More here: http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/Windows_Mobile_5_Registry_Tweaks
Also is it possible to get all other the cellids at any point not the one phone is connected to ? I have not see any app providing this info.
Except for Google maps on mobile (without GPS) it uses triangulation technique to get the Latitude and longitude of a location with all cell id locations available. for this method to work we requires atleast 3 cell id.
Does RILCELLTOWERINFO gives details about other towers also ?
I wonder what the requirements are for the command line tool?
It locks up when I run it on my MotoQ smartphone.

I can't get this to work. I get "-1" for all 3 values. Anyone offer any reasoning as to why this may be? I believe my ROM includes .Net framwork, but I'm not sure how to check.
Thanks

Thanks onionfx for your contribution. I might need it for a use similar to the one described by wishme.
Hello XDA, I'm trying to write (what I believe to be) a simple app; a calculator with storage buttons. I've gotten the basic layout and initialized the core components. Yet, when I add on-click listeners, there's a force quit when testing. Attached is the Java class and xml. I've tried very hard to figure out what it is; I've even tried simply putting a println statement in the on-click listener. It doesn't even do THAT
Also, if there's anything (AT ALL) that you could criticize me on in terms of code organization, standards, etc. PLEASE let me know. I'm a newbie, and it's better to kick bad coding habits before they grow strong!
Thanks in advance, guys. I know it's annoying to debug others code, especially beginners, but I don't think it'll take much time at all, and I'd like to think I'm a relatively organized beginner
So I found out what it was; EditText doesn't accept ints or doubles as parameters. There's got to be an easier way of doing this, though. Is there any calculator-window-type objects that will store ints and/or (preferrably or) doubles? It's doable, but highly annoying to cast everything to a string and then parse it back to a numerical data type to perform operations on it.
I know some people have already discussed this in the noRefresh App thread.
But I got a new idea
I don't wanna create a module and embed that to applications
Instead, I created a new Input Device in the kernel
After that, I set the device ( dev/input/event3 ) permission to allow read / write for others.
Then, write an app using JNI to catch the Input Device and set the mode of refreshing.
The prototype proved that this idea works, as i worked out it already, but not very perfect, still in experiment
I am just in some problems of threading, as I am not a professional programmer
This is wt i have now:

NEW!! : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cucG03rg3tg
I know that my method is a bit dirty,
but at least it works XD
I hope that someone would like to help
Upload those code soon
By the way, why can't i change content of init.rc ?
It removes my changes after reboot..... How to solve?

You need to modify uRamdisk to change init.rc.
Would you like to tell me how to unpack the uRamdisk? I use both Windows and Ubuntu, any methods on these two platform is ok. Thanks!
Try the script from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24135886&postcount=72
This is simply amazing. Since you already have it working, polishing it shouldn't take too long (I think, I'm still a beginner programmer).
I don't think /dev/input is a good place to park that.
There are any number of things that could show up there and affect order.
Why not put it in its own directory?
Maybe I'm missing something, but if we use your method you still expect applications to have to be modified to read/write from event3 to control display mode?
As it is now, you only need a single function call to switch display modes. Yes, there is a little bit of housework to do before that, but what could be simpler than a single function?
I think no place else is more suitable than /dev/input.
As /dev/input is the linux kernel's input system.
In the driver, I would only use the input report system but not use the I/O system.
Maybe even setup a input/event searching function to solve the problem later.
The case now is that, the touch screen originally just provide event2,
but if we need to extract move and fingerup information on upper level, it may waste some time.
In order to make the whole algorithm easier and faster, I added 1 more event in the zForce driver,
to only output FingerMove and FingerUp state.
As the reporting system is starting from the kernel, this hack would need to change uImage + uRamdisk + Add an App. The project is quite huge.
My final target is to make the application remembering your choice on what mode u need for the focusing application.
AlwaysOn / OnlyWhenDragging / AlwaysOff, so on.
Of coz the click-to-call function still work.
Isn't it a better workflow and more intuitive, isn't it the thing that we would expect?
I already have an dev/input/event3 on my system and sometimes event4, 5, 6.
That's why I don't think that whatever it is you are doing belongs there.
Is the point to allow coders for user applications to interface with your driver?
Is this supposed to work without modifying user applications?
What information would be going in/out of event3?
Clearly I am missing something here.
Actually not necessary to be event3, the system will auto-ly create a new eventx, just in normal case, without any extra USB devices, a nook should only have up to event2. So, I use event3 as an example here.
We can later make the program auto-ly search back which is the needed eventx.
Yes, u r right, we no need to modify any other applications and this is exactly the point y i am creating this!
Anyone know how to call a FullScreen Refresh in a service?
always on?
Look really great. Since blinking after scrolling is incomfortable is it possible to have also "always on " mode using your new ideas?
My final target is to make the application remembering your choice on what mode u need for the focusing application.
AlwaysOn / OnlyWhenDragging / AlwaysOff, so on.
Of coz the click-to-call function still work.
Also an Over-Ride mode, for more flexible using.
But the most basic part need to be handled well now, as it is not very perfect now.
I still don't figure out how to call the e-ink driver to refresh the screen =-=

Have you tried
Code:
echo 1 > /sys/class/graphics/fb0/epd_refresh
?

Are you saying that your idea does not require modifying user applications?
If it doesn't, then there is no need to have a public interface.
It will be only your code talking to your code.
What is the point of this /dev/input/event3? You say that it will be writable. What's going in and out?
Some apps will be using gestures, some dragging. How are you going to keep track of that all?
I have one application that works perfectly fine now, one activity uses swipe gestures to page up/down while another activity uses drag with a user choice of A2 and display while dragging or else only panning at ACTION_UP.
All this requires less than 10 lines of code.
With multitouch, many applications don't even need A2. Even normal panning in Opera Mobile works much better now that Opera doesn't try to display while panning.
Maybe my english is too bad, cannot express the idea well.
I know, we can make such an application with noRefreshDrag working on its own well.
But how about other applications, it is impossible for us to change all applications.
So, my idea is making it system based.
My prototype is very good now, after several adjustment.
Not limited to only 1 application, but the whole system.
The approach is like this:
1. zForce driver provide extra information to InputEvent
2. A JNI catch the InputEvent
3. A service get the data and set the update mode
We only need to write 1 application to handle the setting of this chain.
This is what i mean, hope that u get what i mean now.

I guess that this is the part that I don't understand.
What is this extra information?

It created an extra Event, l called it Event3 before.
Driver reports only move and finger_up to Event3.
Just providing a channel to pass an information from driver to user-space.
You may ask why not directly using the existing Event, need to create another one.
That is because, the original one only have touch and position information, parsing them back to move information need a bit of work. As the hardware provided the move information, then don't waste it.
Code:
public boolean dispatchTouchEvent(MotionEvent event)
{
switch(event.getAction())
{
case MotionEvent.ACTION_DOWN:
break;
case MotionEvent.ACTION_MOVE:
break;
case MotionEvent.ACTION_UP:
break;
}
return(true);
}
}
Isn't that everything that you could ask for?
Hi,
I would like to add some specific calculations to my app but I want to keep it safe. How can I do it? Maybe I should use C++ and link it from code in Java?
There is a so called proguard feature for building apks which obfuscates variable, class and method names but maybe this won't meet your security visions
--------------------
Phone: Nexus 4
OS: rooted Lollipop LRX21T
Bootloader: unlocked
Recovery: TWRP 2.8.2.0
I'm using ProGuard, but it is not hiding algorithm into binary code. I'm gonna need more advanced solution.
I think that, unfortunately, you can't. There will alway be a way to find out the code you've written.
If it's really very important, one of the best solution should be to create a server and execute you algorithm on it, but the user will have to be connected to internet to use your app and it could make some people leave it.

Put your secret code to server and call for calculations.
You can also use different sort of "black boxes" (if your apk running on some custom hardware).
Finally, you can try to use native code with heavy obfuscation, but I do not know reliable tools for android (arm) like VMProtect for x86/x64 code.
There is no 100% protection if you're shipping your algorithm with APK.
I would think of solving the problem from legal standpoint - file a patent. If your algorithm worthwhile you'll get the patent, otherwise there is no valid reason to put huge effort to protect it.
Thanks for all the answers. So there is no possible solution to protect algorithm at least as much as it is "hidden" in compiled C++ code?
I always write the secret code in JNI. (such as DRM) The java code always can be decompiler.
The best ways are:
1. Move algorithm to your server, execute on it, and send result to Android client.
But, this method has disadvantages:
- Your app will not work in offline mode.
- You will have extra load on your server. If you have many app users, you can have heavy server load.
2. Move algorithm code to C/C++ using Android NDK.
3. Generate algorithm at runtime. Split algorithm to many parts and insert dull parts (they do something, but don't affect algorithm - they are just for obfuscation purposes).
Something like this:
Code:
// algorithm part
interface Part {
double process(double arg0, double arg1);
}
class DullPart1 implements Part {
public double process(double arg0, double arg1) {
double i = 0;
i++;
i += arg1;
// and more dull actions here
}
}
Then make code that will call each part in predefined sequence and insert dull parts to it.
