Always can not start wifi
maybe can start it 1 time after many times fails.
Do you have Toggle WiFi and Shopsavvy installed. I have heard that these two do not play nice and could cause wifi connection issues.
Do you have any other applications that affect the wifi directly?

Tks, already cover it through reseting factory data. But it is a simple but not good solution. I also tried to reset it in the past but did not solute it. this time, I do not know why it successed.
As you said, I installed shopsavvy.
This is a very peculiar problem i am facing in my hd2. The wifi connection settings as well as the data connection settings keep on changing automatically. At times after restart they work perfectly fine and stop otherwise automatically especially after a power failure , when the router rests again , the internet cant be connected.
Any help ??
Aloqa
have you recently installed a programme called Aloqa from Marketplace?
I did and this has caused issues with my WIFI and Data connections getting all messed up.

Aha, interesting!
I too am having problems with my HD2 randomly enabling data connection by itself and it's only started happening since I installed the 1.61 rom and/or Aloqa, however I uninstalled Aloqa a couple of days ago and it's still happening... ghosts in the machine! I would hate to have to hard reset especially since I spent hours setting up my phone with icons etc. and I'm otherwise very happy with it. Hope there's a resolution to this issue.

Did you install hTC taskmanager?
There must be a registry hack.
Any solution to configure the GMS/UMTS Data-connection as permanent (useful for Voip)?
I am now testing this nice program here

Edit2: Doesn't work for me after some hours of testing!
any help ??
Still ......... anybody ??
i dont think this is a SGS specific problem, possibly an app is doing this but cant figure out which one, during the day usually when i take out of sleep the wifi will come on for a moment then switch off, other times it stays on.
I have uninstalled Locale, and now use tasker but there are no settings I have entered for wifi, is there a way of figuring out which app could be doing this?
I have the some problem and don't know what it is
You can go to options and then go to wifi advanced options
(I have a Dutch phone so i don't know to correct name on English language on your phone)
you can select "never go to sleep" or somthing like that.
But is still have the problem
I'm also finding that I have to detach/reattached the wifi connection quite regularly. I'm using it on a 'n' network.

this is bug in the system.. it is the location doing.. it any app trying to get your location.. you are supposed to be able to turn it off by unchecking use wireless to determin location under wifi.. but it does not always seem to work.
I think the problem is with Google Maps (or Navigation, I don't remember). When I open it and starts to fix my location, the wifi will turn on althought I disabled in the settings the use of wifi networks to help the GPS. In theory, when you close GMaps/Navigation the wifi will turn off, but sometimes it will just leave it on.
It doesn't happen with other GPS apps like GPS Status, etc...
Will check what happens with Sygic later!
yes i have also tried unchecking check wireless networks for location, maybe switch off latitude?
its really bugging me as sometimes it gets stuck on switching off and you then cant do anything, and if you really do need wifi have to restart phone.
edit: switched off latitude, see if this is the culprit
I don't think Latitude has anything to do. I never used it and I have the same problem.
i have the same problem! its sooo annoying...
For the record, i'm using firmware XXJF3
If someone is using a newer firmware please check if the bug is already fixed.
not fixed in jf5 or jf7
just had to reboot stuck turning off. if anyone has a workaround or what service to kill to do so without rebooting please post.
I have all sorts of problems with wifi... keeps turning itself on when I disable it, keep losing connection, drains battery, locks the phone up (i think its wifi doing this) etc...
I tried wifi fixer app, and you can see how many times it disconnects/reconnects even after disabling sleep etc

i have location with wifi on. it disconnects automatically only when i'm not in the range of a saved network. Then it will connect to this network and stay connected
Any one else have any theories on how to fix this?
I think the problem is with the "Use wireless networks" setting not taking any effect on the phone (I have it disabled).
Having wifi turned off, if I open some GPS app wifi will turn itself on automatically. I think it is because it searches for nearby APs to fix the location more quickly. The problem is that the location is not as exact as with pure GPS. When I quit the app wifi will turn off automatically. This happens even if I have unchecked the above system setting.
A workaround that worked for me was to disable wifi AFTER opening the app that uses GPS, and the location was more precise.
Note that I tried this with Google Maps and Sygic Mobile Maps, so it seems like a system-level bug rather than app bug.
Anybody has noticed the same behavior?
My wifi is very annoying.
Every few minutes while I use e.g. the internet browser the connection just dies.
It often happens during loading of a web page or updating in the weather app.
My solution so far is to tun wifi off and on again, then it will work for another few minutes before it suddenly hangs again.

I have exactly the same issue. Which network system do you use? My router supprts "n" standard, maybe that cause the issue?
I think I might have fixed it by first turning it on and then turning it off(wireless location that is). Never managed to open up Google Maps before without the phone enabling wifi as well.
EDIT: Oh, and I'm running the custom ROM from Modaco.

Tried it on stock ROM version JF3 and still the same issue.
Regarding MCR, I didn't see in the info on modaco forum anything related to this GPS issue, maybe Paul fixed something without knowing?

Could be, but most importantly - Google Maps is finally usable again(for me at least)! Did you enable the "Use Wireless Networks" option and then open up google maps or did you just toggle it quickly?
hi
Im running the stock JK6 and rooted.
when Im running e.g. the liveview app my phone keeps some kind of freezing after a few minutes, first I tought it is app related but now I revieved my OBD2 scanner for my car and its just the same with the app "torque".
is this a hardware related problem or something wrong with this ROM.
did a HR several times and reflashed the ROM.
Edit: I noticed when bluetooth recieve or send data I cant get any other wireless date like on wifi or on radio.
please help
Seems to be a one time event with the data problem but the main thing keeps annoing me
Have you tried pulling the battery waiting 60 seconds placing the battery back in the phone and then rebooting?
Eh no cause on the galaxy tab the battery cant be removed

I don't Know, but if you have a Bluetooth PAN connection to the internet, then it should be not possible to have another connection to the internet. IP routing to the gateway would be confused if you could.
There are tools that "group" several separate internet connections into one virtual one.
no Im not using a bt PAN to connect the inet, only normal bluetooth data usage
Push
Just only me who is facing this annoing problem?
Same problem with OBD2 :s disable GPS reduc freeze loop. But not fully (30 minutes). Next time i will turn off Data conection.
Every time i've freeze now i see torque try reconnect to OBD2, seem like BT of SGT turned off or time out
I am having the same problem. As long as I have bluetooth turned on, it will hang the Tab within 30 min. All bluetooth connections are definitely gone. Turning off the bluetooth won't help. The only way is to reboot and never turn bluetooth on.
BTW, I have tried connecting LiveView or a normal bluetooth headset. Both cause the same problem.
I am on JK2.
It seems it is bluetooth driver conflicting with any other data connections.
Did a further testing. Disabled Wifi, but doing data communication via 3G network while turning bluetooth on. The tab hangs in a few minutes. Found a process called 'btld' sucking up all the CPU circle.
Any ideas what 'btld' is?
Thought this should not be a hardware problem because bluetooth works fine when all data connections are off and Wifi/3G data works fine when bluetooth is off. It must be some sort of default setting isn't correct. If this is the case, then root would be a must before manually tuning any parameters.
Found root cause. It is actually the SonyEricsson LiveView software causing troubles. After removing, everything goes well.
Checked on SonyEricsson's web site, it seems Froyo is yet to be supported.
try to use WO Webcam B-Lite out of market, you can open a bt connection by pressing activate and then while running, close via taskmanager, voila the freeze begun
I've got galaxy Tab and galaxy S, and torque badly freezes the devices almost every time I exit the application. It cannot be an hardware fault since I use lot of bluetooth devices and always 3g connected, never had issues. Just with torque, and I don't have any "sony liveview" thing.
Reading on the comments of Torque it seems that also other devices have the same freeze issue (especially a phone called "Evo 4G"). Many months ago I sent a mail to the developer explaining the bug but he bumped me away replying that the app is tested and working on GalaxyTab (and obviously it's not true, or he did some mistake in testing). Now lots of people with this Evo 4G are complaining and the developer is trying to fix. let's hope..

save your apps(only apps and config of the apps no system data) with titanium backup, store the titanium backup folder on your pc
make a hard reset and flash the newest firmeware, after that copy tb folder back on your phone and restore the apps.
have fun
Just a guess, check this if problem is: '' wifi stuck on obtaining IP address from".
for me, problem was on my home router and work router was ok, the thing which worked and still working for me(I found it somewhere here only), is go to AllShare app on your device and then it will ask you to connect wifi and there you go it will connect wifi right away.
I use this trick every now and then, funny thing is problem does not occur if my home router is continually running, if I turn off router before leaving for office and in the phone stuck again and AllShare trick works all the time.
try it, may it works for you too.
Great tips, I will try this later and let you know is this works...
Thanks. Awesome tip. Have been fighting with this problem so long. Works like a charm
fine, that the tipp help you
mfg dennis
Awesome, now everything works as a charm. Thanks a lot!!!
I agree. Great tip. Used it for a while until I flashed 2.2.1 firmware. Now all my wifi problems have disappeared.

wifi problem fixed in 2.2.1
Seems, problem has been fixed in 2.2.1 release, for those who is yet to get 2.2.1 (not talking about flashers) can go for 'AllShare' solution.
hey guys im having a wifi problem as well but it seems its kind of different from the rest of you...
my wifi is connecting fine to my router... it runs fine for the first say maybe 5 mins... and then it just stops working even tho it still connected to the router... it just says no data connection... this was happening on my 2.2 froyo then i flashed it with darkys rom 9.2 and im still having the same problem... i need to reboot my phone then only the internet works again for 5 mins then stops again unless i reboot.... its verrryyy irritating i tell you...
tried the allshare but that didnt really make a diff cuz the router is connecting... im just notgetting any internet after a few mins....
any advice would be great..
unable to scan wifi networks; auto turn off of wifi
my problem is similar. i am able to turn on wifi but it won't scan networks ("unable to scan networks"). it then turn off the wifi after a few seconds by itself.
any help?
i've done several reboots and the allshare solution, the prob persists. will do an upgrade to gingerbread and will see if it solves the problem.
I've upgraded to gingerbread and wifi issues have been solved sunbed then.
