What's up guys? I was playing around with my phone and decided to go back to Sense, and I picked Ava-Froyo v10. I also saw on the thread that there was a USB tethering fix, and I was intrigued, so I flashed it along with the ZIP for Ava-Froyo. Whatever that ZIP did, my 4G is now f**ked.
It doesn't let me connect at all to the 4G network where I was able to originally, even on different ROMs. Please help? Also, when I try to turn on USB tethering, it gives me a Sprint error (this is normal, I haven't paid for the service) but then I CAN'T TURN IT OFF. It says "Unable to turn off."
I feel like this is what is causing my 4G problem. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
Update: I just plugged in my phone to my computer and enabled USB tethering, and my 4G turned off (it was "Scanning..."). I then turned off USB tethering, and my 4G is cycling through "Turning off..." and "Turning on..." I'm currently on Myn's. I'm about to restart my phone and find out if this fixed the problem.
lots of ppl here had same issues like that exactly. you may search here, you might have chance to fix it.
I'm about to unroot my phone to see if factory settings make it work again. I saw on the logcat errors with USB tethering, so I know for a fact that ZIP with USB tether I flashed destroyed my authenticating with Sprint. Hopefully the unrooted version of Sense will fix my authentication again. If not... it's time to go on a Sprint mission.
I am having this same issue for the last 3-4day my 4g has been turning on and then off and then scan. I am in DC and i have had perfect experience with connecting to 4g up untill this week actually. ANY HELP?!?
Okay, I just unrooted my phone and it's still giving me the same issue. I am ****ting bricks at the moment. Can anyone help?
Did you consider it could have been a network issue and not your phone?

if you have the same problem as most here is the fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715525
I was able to connect but with a very low connection. Leads me to believe that it's a tower problem. The only weird part is it tries to connect sometimes and it simply drops and stays "Scanning..." I'll keep investigating, I'm gonna try moving to a better 4G area.
UPDATE: I don't have a bad MAC address, I verified it when I connected with the really poor connection. So I'm taking a breath of fresh air right now.

After connecting to 3 different wireless connections and none of then working, I'm concluded that my wifi isn't working.
I go to settings and check wifi on, it finds the network, connects, but I lose my entire data connection for the duration wifi is turned on!
Is anyone else having this problem?
Sent from my Samsung Vibrant
I'm having the same issues with the wifi. I downloaded wifi analyzer to make sure I was on a good channel. Set it to the best channel and my signal strength is 100%. I will be able to connect for a little bit but for some reason it goes in and out, connection unsuccessful, yada yada yada. I messed with all the troubleshooting solutions for my router (dgl-4300) but nothing works. If anyone can reply with a fix or point me in the right direction, that would be greatly appreciated.
Same Issues
Any help is greatly appreciated. Data working fine when on 3G but Wifi = no data. Connection is fine, IP is fine.
UPDATE: It's working again on my home WIFI. Will have to see if it's just an "at work" issue. Hopefully IT can assist.
Same problem with Verizon MiFi
I have had ZERO problems connecting to the Linksys access points we have setup at my home and my office, but recently my work provided me with a Verizon MiFi (as well as an iPad - don't hate ) and I've had MANY issues trying to get my Vibrant to consistently connect to the MiFi.
My iPad, Motorola Droid, and Laptop have no issues connecting to the MiFi.
On my Vibrant I'm running the 2.1 stock ROM with root & the latest ClockWork recovery.
It will "connect" to the MiFi (I use quotes because I can't really tell - it AT LEAST receives an IP). But I'm unable to send and receive data. I can't even browse to the MiFi's internal configuration page .
To FINALLY get it to connect consistently I have to do some kind of random combo toggling the wifi off and back on and then turning the MiFi off and back on and it will EVENTUALLY connect and stay connected with data flowing freely.
I've customized my configuration a little bit on the MiFi so I'm going to reset it back to factory and not change the config to see if it makes a difference - because at lunch I was able to connect to my boss' MiFi with no problem. I'm thinking it may either be the phone or the mifi...
I've connected to about 10 different wireless networks with NO issues, at all. The connectivity is actually much better than my G1/Nexus.
HOWEVER, last night at a bar I was connected to their wifi, strong signal, but I was not able to use Data. I was in a very poor reception area for T-Mobile... don't think that could be an issue, bit the other places I use wi-fi that is not the case.
I just chalked it up as a fluke and moved on. Not sure what was wrong.
I had this happen to me today. I just rebooted and it went away. Toggling wifi didn't help, but I only tried it once. The phone reboots so quick I figured I'd give it a try.
I have set the phone up manually with static ip. Seems like its a problem with the dhcp.

Hey guys, newbie user and android owner.
I picked up the vibrant the other day. So far its rooted, android-wifi-tether, and i performed the gps fix on it.
I really like the phone, but whenever I connect to my wifi router, it stops all data (android market, web browser, etc) It says connected and doesn't show any signs of problems. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for any help you can throw my way.
Hmm. Mine has problems with "No Connection" when it's connected to my wireless at home, but I just figured it was my router's fault since my computer gives me the "unable to load web page" thing all the time too. My router sucks, though. Maybe your does too?
Yeah, mine does it sometimes too. I just turn on airplane mode, and turn it back off...works fine after that. Its a hit or miss issue.
Mine works fine running off if my router. Btw, do you actually have the wi-fi tether working? Because I thought we needed a working kernal for that to work.
Feeling Vibrant on xda-app
Yup that did it for me. All I had to do was turn on airplane mode and then turn it back off. Wifi working for me now. Thanks.

Please tell us how you got wifi tethering to work without a custom kernel.
From XDA App on SGS-Vibrant
you know, i have a similar issue, where im connected to my router but i dont get internet and 3g goes away the moment i connect to wifi... airplane mode didnt help tho... its interesting really..
ive tried other routers and my phone can get wifi w/internet from them
i did factory reset on my phone 3 times trying to figure this out; 2 of the three times i got wifi to work w/internet until i disconnected and connected again. then i just got the same problem all over again
My Epic will connect to my network and act as though everything's connected, and it can stay connected as long as I keep WiFi on, but it isn't loading anything over WiFi -- on the browser, it seems to attempt to load a page for about a minute before giving me a "Web page not available" error (on websites that I know are up), and any apps that use data simply give me a connection error. 3G works fine, and I can't comment on 4G as I'm not in a 4G area.
I haven't been able to test it on another WiFi network, though other WiFi devices connect to the network just fine; I'm typing this very post on another device connected to the laptop.
Has anyone else been experiencing this issue, and has a resolution been found? I've tried everything I can think of, from factory resetting, to completely reflashing the phone back to stock settings, and nothing has seemed to work. The WiFi did work at one point, but has stopped for whatever reason today.
Wifi
I actually have had the same issue here in Philadelphia and we have 4G coverage. This is what I have figured out so far. I have an app called "gas buddy" if I have 4G enabled it tells me there is no internet connection available. The minute I turn it off it works fine. I have seen similar issues with a couple of apps. Once i disable the 4G the apps in question work fine. I also noticed that I have to turn off the wifi radio button. I think the issue may be related to the app not having 4g settings yet. Make sure you disable the wifi and 4g settings and try that app again.
deleted post! Sorry wrong thread!
Well my first post was for a different thread but i may be able to help here. Sometimes the router or modem is to blame. The device is able to connect with the router but either the router is not allowing the device to actually get through to the internet, or the router is not. either way resetting the modem or router or both generally fixes this. sometimes when modems and routers (such as my current router) start to go bad it needs done quite a bit. Just unplug the power cord from the modem and router and wait about 5-10seconds to make sure the capacitors have drained. Then plug the modem in and wait for the lights to stabilize (stop flashing and stay lit) then plug the router back in and wait for you device (smartphone) to pick up the signal. If that is the problem, you should be back in business! hope this helps!
Okay, so this might be like beating a dead horse, but yet I haven't gotten any responses for this issue. I use WiFi alot, and at work I really need it since my phone keeps switching between ATT & T-Mobile towers. Damn cell phone companies, 2011 and coverage still sucks! Anyhow I have to use WiFi alot at work and my phone keeps doing something stupid! It will connect to the wireless just fine, but keeping it connected is the issue! Stupid thing keeps dropping connection and then reconnecting. I don't know if it is because of the carrier switch or if my router is a piece of junk. My laptop seems fine on the wireless so I think that is fine. I am running [ROM][07/04/11] Virtuous Unity Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid [1.27.0] and everything seems fine on it! So maybe a setting in the phone, or I just have crap WiFi at work? I am literally sitting beside the dang router while this issue persists. I can even go into the Settings portion of the phone and watch the WiFi constantly say "Connected to NETGEAR_2" then "Scanning" then "Obtaining IP Address" over and over, WTF? Please someone, anyone, have issues with this on their MyTouch 4g before? My setup at work has two WNR2000v3 NetGear routers that are wireless bridge so the front computers can connect to the internet. I was connecting to the back router but the signal sucked so I switched and setup the front router to give me another signal. So my phone has full strenth on signal, but yet again it drops and picks up again and makes that notification sound when it does so. That sound maybe the phone roaming, I do have that feature on. But anyhow, any info would be great, just someone please give me an idea here!
Well, came to work this morning and tried to connect to the 2nd router with my laptop and lord behold, it messed up. So maybe its not my phone after all.
Curious to know if the community is having tethering issues since going to Nougat.
Tethering does turn on and it does work to an extent but it'll either turn off whenever it wants or it'll simply stop serving requests. There is not a set amount of time for either before experiencing the issue. I'm pointing this issue directly at the tethering aspect as the phone will always browse and do anything as expected even tho the tethering clients are unable to. Even when the clients are unable to browse I can still ping the exact website that will not load. I can even curl those pages and get data back..
Here's what I've tried:
- Disabled adblocker on the phone
- Kept phone awake
- Connected to the charger
- Disconnected from the charger
- added net.tethering.noprovisioning=true to the build.prop
- Nuked and paved with different ROMs
Going to try installing a different tethering app to see if that works. UPDATE: This also produced the same results
I can connect to another 6p not running nougat and everything works as expected with the same computer so that rules out the computer.
Anyone else running into this issue? Anyone have a fix?
Thanks
What carrier are you on? Does hotspot work ok?

Verizon also using EX kernel. It's almost like some sort of cache fills up
Thank you!!! I thought it was just my phone hardware maybe. Having the same exact issue once I hit the official version of nougat. It didn't pop up until I believe thr 5th developer release as an issue. It really annoys me either streaming or online gaming it'll just cut out. I am really close to just going back to one of the developer previews that it did not occur on. Please anybody who can fix this issue or needs anything like a logcat, let me know.

What carrier are you on? Tethering can mean Wi-Fi, USB, or BT. I guess you are talking about the Wi-Fi hotspot because it's the most commonly used. My Wi-Fi hotspot is working fine on AT&T, although I haven't used it for gaming. Haven't heard back from OP, but I think he may be talking about Wi-Fi as well? You could try changing frequencies under advanced settings to toggle the hotspot to use 5Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz if you haven't tried that (and your equipment supports it).
I was having same issue also running latest PN, EX 4.04, radio/bootloader & vender.
This seemed to help but just started yesterday.
In Terminal Emulator, enter below code one by one:
su
settings put global tether_dun_required 0
exit
------------------------------------------------------
Reboot
Now if I could figure out how to stop adding a network every time I connect to hotspot with cp when I turn hotspot off & back on.
I'm thinking this could me a Verizon unlimited thing since not many people have anymore & very few people have stated issues.
Update: The above is not going to cut it! Hotspot seems to hang on longer but still disconnects!
I have Verizon, and yes, I am speaking to*Hotspot tethering. I have this issue only on Nougat. When I use a*Marshmallow based rom it doesn't happen. I use my hotspot as my home internet (laptops, smart tv, tablets, smartphones) and all of them drop connection after random intervals (most times after an hour to few hours). Not until the DPs for 7.1 did a change in the way it failed happened. Before those DPs, it would shut off and the notification icon would disappear (hotspot actually off). After*the DPs for 7.1 started, the tethering would still be on (on the*6P) but no device would show that it was on (in range). I have to shut it off, then*turn it back on. I use stock, Cortex or PN mostly. Root or no root. I also do not use custom kernels unless they come with the rom, although I have tried a couple to see if it would fix it. It didn't.*I have always attributed it to either faulty hardware somehow or DOZE improvements that kicked in. The DOZE came to mind as it almost seems as the phone is trying to*get into deeper sleep. I don't know. Any help would be appreciated.
Same issues with pixel, some said it works others did not.

Yes for wifi tethering.
Well cannot seem to find anything on disconnect solving issues, posted solutions seem to be if tethering does not work at all.
Hope someone can solve.

Did you try toggling hotspot to use 5Ghz instead of 2.4?

Laptop I'm using only does 2.4.
Was never a problem with the HTC M8 on MM, just recently bought the 6P.
Thanks
Had another laptop that had that had a 2.4 / 5Ghz dual wireless card.
Holds wifi hotspot with no disconnects whatsoever, longest time connected was 2.5 hours.
I will have to settle for usb tether on the 2.4 laptop for now until the wiser ones can find cause.
Just ran into this issue on the 6p running 8.0 beta 3. Seem related to the data encryption of the wifi hotspot. Turning encryption seems to solve the problem. However, I would say that is not really a solution, unless you don't running unsecured hotspot.
Edit: Turns out it only helps. Not a solution. Still disconnects just not as often often.
