Kernel flashing ?s - Epic 4G General

I have the syndicate loaded ROM with xtreme kernel. V1.0.1
I noticed there is a newer version of the kernel. I'm am very much a noob so I need someone to tell me step by step, how do I flash the updated kernel?

ok, figured it out

Any difference after the new kernel?

I am using the Syndicate ROM but the extreme kernel was too buggy for me ( too many fc's) even after mutiple wipes. I went to the Fluffkernel and it is awesome, I am using the battery saving one and I am still at 50% at the end of the day.

So far I notice an amazing battery life since upgrading, 74% after 12 hours with minimal usage (6 hours asleep). Before, I would lose about 40 percent with 6 hours sleep.

I love galnet v5.2

But the battery drain isn't worth all the good things this rom has to offer. So sad to know I couldn't use my phone for long if this rom remained.

Ditto. I love MiUi but the battery drain makes it impossible to live with it.

Its like having the fastest and best looking car but you only to drive it for 5 mins before buying more gas. I'm thinking of buying a battery pack just to get normal usage out of this rom. Its about 30% below where I'm usually at and I haven't been doing much.

Use the official miui build from MIUIAndroid.com. I lose 1% battery an hour on that rom.

Okay ill give this a shot and see how well it works.
I am using GalnetMIUI v6 and I don't have any battery drain. With some txts, calls , bit gaming and surfing I can get about 30+ hours of battery.

I can totally confirm this. Only thing i'm missing now on MIUI is my language, but as this rom is more than perfect compared to Samsung rom i will stay with this. I've got some random reboots in 24 hours i flashed this but it's still good!

Better battery life from the link posted above. Its more reasonable now.

Love this rom,but the battery drain is insane.Last tried rom was hawkish prem 3 with galaxian kernel, battery lasted over 3 days moderate using.
you can try my rom iVastROM 2.0.
i post it today.
it's very fast and the battery lasts much

XWKJ2 battery wow

Hi all
I just want to share what I discovered with kj2 full stock.
Yesterday i did full flashed xwkj2 leave it over night with data on and skype on for 8 hrs. Idle from 100% battery and ending up with 97% after 8hr idle. I have never seen my phone does this with any of the stock room.
So i though i'd share it with you guys

I think the latest Skype handles idle time much better, but I agree that KJ2 is improved even over KI8, particularly when using Speedmod's kernel, which has far better Wifi support.
The wow part is the fact that i use stock all the way. No custom kernel
What so ever.
Hope this rom will be serving for awhile

There's already a thread discussing this ROM here: [ROM] I9100XWKJ2 [21.10.2011][Android 2.3.5].

Battery Life

Hi there, we've had multiple threads in the past on battery life. It will always vary, and I don't want it to get too complex. I only want to keep it simple. So post:
Your Rom, How many hours you got on a full charge, do post any tweaks or clocking/volting.
I'll start.
EL30 Stock Tar. 14Hrs 6m. 3G Turbocharger Script. Stock Clocking, Stock Voltage.

I'm actually still using the Rom that Marcusant recently removed due to possible conflict of interest...AOKP victory build 27. I've gotten 36hrs with 39% battery left as I'm typing this. That's with light to moderate usage using included tweaks and Rom Tool box's tweaks. Great work Marcusant...it's a shame you didn't stick with Rom itself.

Battery Life on CM7 (AOSP versus Sense)

I've been running the latest nightly (20120722) for a few days now with less than stellar battery life. It seems that everytime I run an AOSP rom the main battery culprits appear to be cell and phone idle, where's with a Sense rom, it' the screen. I have a relatively new battery. I'd say moderate use, typically.
Anyone have suggestions on getting better battery life with CM7? I'm running the stock kernel at 245/800, ondemand, deadline. Also running V6 supercharger at 5.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've gotten 12+ hours today of cm7.2 7/15 nightly and barely at 50%
Did lots of recordings and such.
Dunno
I don't use the v6 script, or do any mods at all.
Just run it as is.
Stock battery too.

Yeah I've gone back to 7/15 to see if it's any better. I seem to remember it being better; I'll report back later today. Still curious why cell standby is the main battery eater on CM7 (or AOSP ROMs in general) as compared with say, SSX or newSENSE, which was the display...

Aosp shows true signal where Sense won't. So AOSP having a cell standy over display sounds about right. Sense always thinks it has signal and AOSP has no signal thanks to sprint. In my area Sprint blows, so that's what I *think

This is better.. I went back to the previous nightly (20120715) for a few days now. Still moderate use.
I'm currently running the stock kernel at 245/1.21, ondemand, deadline. Without V6 supercharger and I didn't flash the ICS theme either.
Perhaps the 20120722 nightly did not play well with my device.

If V6 SuperCharger is not setup correctly, or the setting is to high. Your Battery life can take a hit.

I think we all are waiting for a Pershoot kernel (keep an eye on http://droidbasement.com/db-blog/) although I have to say that I have never felt so little need to OC than with this ROM...
Maybe with CPU intensive games but I don't do gaming on my mobile devices.
yaa we should wait for peershot kernel. Btw battery life with this rom is quite amazing almost double the time the 3.2 gave, I lost only 1% in 7 hours standby. may be OC reduce the battery life a bit.

Maybe we can gain battery life by keeping a low clock when not in use...i am definitely looking forward for a new kernel as well.
i havent overclock ICS yet but i did overclock JellyBean to 1.4 via SetCpu. Its running very smooth!!!!!
