I upgraded my Streak to the official 2.2 version and have found a lot of my apps in the market are missing. Apparently this is common if the device isn't recognized, which for some reason makes "locked / protected" apps hidden (why?). My question is:
Does anyone know how to get my protected apps to appear in the Market?
I've used z4root to get root access and installed the Market Enabler, but that didn't do anything for me.
FYI - I've just run Smokku's update.zip to improve performance and scored a whopping 1543 on Quadrant Standards full benchmark (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=848487).
Thanks!

I noticed the same thing. Even some of the apps I had previously bought are not showing. Fortunately I backed them up with titanium backup and was able to restore them.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
I had the same situation. I just searched for the app using Appbrain.com on the computer, then used Google Goggles to scan the barcode and download the apps from the Market.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
same here it's like that market detecting that my streak still using Android 1.x because I cant find "youtube", "skyfire" etc....can anyone help us?
The problem here is the Market still shows them as unavailable. If your fingerprint is unrecognized then you can't see locked apps...

I'm running the Official 2.2 after upgrading from ATT 1.6, same problem here. Has any one found a solution yet?
Thanks
I told you all to use appbrain on a computer. Use Google Goggles, then scan the barcode & that should take you to the app in marketplace.
Sent from my Dell Streak
I've been doing that for a while, it gets annoying when your not in front of a PC all the time
Sometimes, even that doesn't work. Square, for example, won't appear. I backed up using the Dell backup/restore as well as On The Fly (which backs up apps) so I wasn't screwed out of apps I had already paid for or downloaded, but there are many apps that do not show up on Market when using cooked ROMS.
Dell backup restore often needs to go back to the market and these apps also fail, presumably because they are locked. I have also posted in this thread which has a few suggestions, none of which have worked for me yet but others may have more luck.

If I root & reflash my CDMA Hero to 2.x, will I have any problems reinstalling the apps I've purchased through AppStore, or (god forbid) is it as easy as, "relaunch Appstore after reflashing, log in, then go to the list of installed apps & just tell it to download & reinstall them?"
You can download your purchased apps again and again regardless of how many times you flash or how many times you change your phone.
To a certain degree but not always. I just flashed my Droid from 2.0.1 to the Nexus One 2.1 ROM and I have a few apps that I purchased that will no longer show in the market like Pure Calendar and PicSay Pro. After contacting the developers I was told that the apps feature "Google Copy Protection" and basically Google does not recognize the ROM I am using.

I don't know. To be honest I don't even know how to check the apps I already have for protection, other than the fact they arent available im the market anymore.

No, but when you have root you can pull /data/app-private where protected apps are stored...
what if you install them to your SD card using apps2sd; I think they will remain after reflashing. it happened to me a while ago.

they probably arent showing up on the nexus 2.1 dump because they do not support 2.1...if you reflash back to stock they should show up again
Why can't I see Angry Birds Beta in the market or Glyder along with a slew of other apps? I don't mind side loading but is there an app that would allow me to see these items in the market? Is something mis-configured on my phone?
Well crap, I check today and I can see the mentioned apps, running FrankTwiz now, was Bionix before, what causes this?
I'm wondering this too. JI6 soft bricked my phone. All of my paid apps showed up except for Wunder Radio which is the one app I use CONSTANTLY. This totally sucks.
Download sgs tools on market and run the market fix
If they don't show right away give at least 24 hours after market fix all missing apps will come back

Missing apps on Android Market
Yea, I just rooted my phone but I noticed some of the apps on the Market does not show up. I used another non-rooted Eris and the apps show up. So, is the current Market a different version?
-r00t0101
I didnt see Angry Birds on the 2.1 market, but when I installed the 2.2 market .apk it showed up
I have updated my Vibrant from stock (non-rooted) with the official JI6 tar file using Odin 1.3 and using the instructions as supplied and now I can't see some apps in the market like Fandango. Please if you also manual updated your Vibrant using Odin 1.3 and the official JI6 update, please go to the market and enter Fandango and see if the Fandango app comes up. There is certainly something wrong here as the people who got the OTA update seem to not have any problems with the market but the ones that got the manual update using Odin they have this disappearing apps problem.
Can anyone with any idea of what's going on shed some light? many thanks.
You can use the Eris Market Fix and that will fix the issues you're having. It does require root, though.
I also manually updated to JI6 and couldn't see the apps, but this fixed it for me.
I've noticed several apps are unavailable after using odin to flash the ota update. I used a freshly installed stock rom and applied the ota flash w/out root or any other modifications.

Thanks for your reply. I actually saw your reply on a different thread and tried it after rooting the phone and I can tell you that it did NOT work for me. So this is not a full proof method by any means. So Eris Market Fix did NOT solve the problem. I'm hoping someone with an understanding of the issue can offer a full proof method on getting this resolved as it looks like it has affected lots of users.
Remote for iTunes is also missing for me. But Angry Birds Lite now show up.

Did you download an app after you did the market fix?
As soon as I did the fix, it still wasn't working. I downloaded an app, left the market, reopened it, and it was working after that.

This is happening because the JI6 install you are using is not an official OTA dump, it's the leak which has an altered file causing the market to not allow you to see protected apps. Fandango, Pay-Pal, etc, are all protected which is causing your issue.
You either need to wait for your phone to prompt you for the real OTA and take a risk with that potentially bricking your phone or alter that file.
I do not know which file it is, I just read about it yesterday.

Just updated through odin and everything seems fine. Fadango is on the market. Angry birds is the only new app.

No. It was not the JI6 leak file but the official JI6 OTA file that recently was posted here on XDA for people to manualy update. I only hope that one of the software developers here who has run into this issue can shed some light on why it's happening and how to fix it.
I can see the file that post is referring to and I do have ASTRO but how do I go about editing it on my Android?

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I used SGS Tools as suggested after rooting the phone and now when I type Fandango I could see 3 apps that I could not see before but the main Fandango app still is not appearing. I also noticed that Groupon also does not appear. I know some people mentioned that these are all protected apps, but can someone explain what that is? They are all FREE apps so why should they be protected and why they would not appear on the market list when searched for? Many thanks.
I am noticing the same after receiving the OTA update (Tmo Official), all of the apps listed are not showing in the market and most importantly, slingbox (which I already paid for) isn't listed either. I was able to download the apk but strange that paid apps that you have already purchased do not show up.

In that case, it is apparent that this anomaly is another case of Google being slow to update its server-side Market database of valid Android builds. The Market suppresses access of certain "protected" apps from devices whose signatures are not recognized.
What is unclear to me is why the lag in updating the database: Is this entirely Google's operational problem, or do the carriers or the manufacturer need to take more timely action to initiate the process? This problem is not unique to the Vibrant update. After the last two firmware updates of the Sprint Epic, access to protected Market apps was broken for several days.
From what I read this seems to be a Samsung not notifying Google of the update problem. As of today it is now 3 full days and counting and still having the same issue. Regardless it is annoying and needs to be fixed in a much more timely fashion.
Yeah, nothing is working for me. Not a huge deal, but I would like some apps back.

This didn't work for me. It's says that make sure the phone is not connected to the computer.
Allows you to manage APP installed via the website and have them pushed to your Android devices. Not sure if anyone has looked at it yet.
Im on Bonsai ROM with Market version 2.2.11 and its not working for me. The website finds my Epic but apps don't get pushed to my phone when I click install. Is there a newer version I need?
I havent I'm not by a computer but I'm interested though....
Is it like the app store on itunes?
I'm tired of updating my phone and not having acess to certain apps
This would take all the pain away!

Worked for me, but I'm on stock.
Wasn't that one of the features of Gingerbread? It thought they mentioned that at the Froyo push last year.
They actually first showed this off last year at the Froyo event.
Getting SERVER NOT FOUND error?
I was able to use this today successfully. I remotely installed 3 apps, with absolutely no problems. It recognized all the programs already on my phone.
I'm on Nebula 1.0.7, so stock is not required
I'm on ViperROM 4.0.2c and am able to use it. The thing I like the most about it is that it has kept track of all the applications I've installed (which isn't the case when I flash my ROM). So I can reinstall the APPs throught he market. (yes the market keeps track of my purchased APPs, just not the rest of them via the phone.
It also makes installing the same APPs to multiple devices at the same time via the same Google account very easy.
I am on Quantom 2.7 and the website just doesn't see my phone at all. Wonderful.
are you guys just going to market.google.com??? I can't get to it from my computers.

Google the term "market"
Thank you.
And for anyone else reading this, the correct website is:
https://market.android.com/
I'm running Nebula and when I go to the web market, all of my apps that I've downloaded are there, but it won't recognize my epic. Anyone else found a fix for this?
Works on the current nightly of Cyanogenmod 6.
Shows the list of currently installed applications, and the instant I told it to add Angry Birds (not that I'm interested) my phone began the download.
Awesome.
Combined with the way all apps reinstall after a new flash, I should not need to use the crappy on-phone application again!

Well, I just flashed to a new ROM and am now once again having trouble with the sync.
My market.android.com list shows like 20+ applications, but Bonsai ROM downloaded 2 and acts like it is done. I'm going to have to go down the list and search for each of them now. Or maybe I'll try the same from market.android.com
EDIT it's working, but the list of installed apps on the phone's Market won't even update...
Time to say "goodbye" to appbrain. Finally.
Oh nice
Thanks for the tip. I was able to use my computer to browse the market and it was able to see my installed apps ok. I am running stock DI18.

Says no phone associated with my account even though I can see my market history. I'll chalk it up ito being a new service and not fully up and running yet.
Hey,
I'm running the cognition 2.3.4 rom and i have the newest market. One issue i have is i can't see some of the apps i have purchased in the market (Marine US east for example). I also can't find apps like onstar my link.
I've tried the market enablers to no avail.
Any tips would be great.
Thanks
Return to the older market version and use Market Enabler. I had the same problem with the new Market and solved it this way.
Backup build.prop
Open build.prop and change every line from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3 and XXKG1 to XWKE7. Save and reboot. Install desired appas then just restore build.prop
Unfortunately this looks like Google have tightened up on the region restrictions. I can no longer buy apps at all with the new market, or via the market.android.com.
From what I can tell, google is checking the country that your payment method is registered too, as opposed to the region that your phone is set to with MarketEnabler
I can still buy on my tab with the old market, anyone know if there is a way to block the update to the new market when Google decides to role it out?
I'm running 2.3.4 cognition rom and I could not even see Visidon applock that I read about on this forum, on 2.33 I could....very strange...fortunaly I found the apk here on the forum
Any fix for this so I can download everything?
I had the same problem with call recorder. I contacted killer mobiles who said it was a market problem. Market replied that the app had copy- protection thing on it. I contacted killer mobs again and they wanted my ime number and market purchase number to activate my app as bought. My app, before, did not show up as bought and I had to search for it and was shown as a trial. Perhaps you could ask the app makers is this the problem. This was with the old market. Also, the new market is in my opinion, bloatware; full of photos and such. I've gone over to 1mobile market which I find good. I did try to replace the new market with the old vending.apk but it kept changing back on a reboot.

So i still could use some help with this problem
It seems no matter what rom (2.3.3 or 2.3.4) i can't get the Marine: US East app to show up. This also doesn't depend on the markt i'm using. I Just turned on my atrix, installed 2.3.4 on it and the market auto updated and sure enough the app showed up in the list.
Now i think this might be a location issue. I'm on AT&T here in the states, but i feel like maybe the phone thinks that i'm in europe or something(if that's possible).
If anyone has any tips i would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

Even on stock on the stock rom i didn't even see the apps.
I just edited the build prop changing everything i could think that would mess with the market and i still can't get some things to show up
Well i thought i'd keep people updated on this cause it was driving me crazy.
I couldn't get Marine: US East to show up, so i emailed them. One of their suggestions was my market was blocking copy protected apps. So i googled that and found that google needs to update their fingerprint data base to allow specific phone firmwares to access it.
one way to tell if your phone can see copy protected apps is to search for "Topmarkettest" and if you see the copy protection app then that means you can see copy protected apps.
I solved this (as mentioned in an earlier post but apparently i'm a block of cheese) by just changing the fingerprint in the buildprop file.
