Hi All,
Have been using the Dopod D810 in WM5 for a while, syncing using ActiveSync 4.5 worked well, syncs were fast. After upgrading to WM6, syncing became much slower, even if i just chose to sync the calendar appointments.
For example, when i have the D810 connected through USB to the desktop, then I add a simple calendar entry in desktop Outlook, the system starts syncing, that calendar entry is quickly sync'ed ( 0/1 changing to 1/1 then the check mark, this process is fast). However, after this, the system still stays on "synchronizing" for about 1 minute until it finishes.
I have already tried lots of WM6 roms, including the official Dopod D810 WWE rom and many other cooked roms (ax3l, mary, pdaviet, etc...)
Have you guys encountered this problem? and how to solve it?
please... no one has this problem except me?

I have the same problem, but I have no idea how to solve it.
I have the same problem with HTC-P4350 (HTC_P4350_WWE_4.17.405.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe firmware)
I only have this problem when I choose to sync Outlook Email. When I deselect it, syncing is relatively fast.
Hi everyone, after doing some research online, it seems that its a consensus. Anyone running ActiveSync 4.5 is seeing this issue. I was running 4.2 with wm5 and syncs were lightning fast. I'm not sure if I upgraded to 4.5 or it happened during a windows auto update. 4.5 and wm5 was slow as heck. I tried everything. Reinstalling, hard resets etc, nothing. I upgraded my TyTN to wm6 and same problem.
I've tried posting this problem (others have as well) in the MSFT forums but no replies.
Anyone... HELP!!
it works with me
Hi guys,
I had the same problem with slow synchronization on activesync 4.5, however now my problem is a bit solved. I only chosed to sync calendar, and I installed with activesync 4.5 provided by the HTC (in my case it is T-mobile companion cd). Now it works charmingly. It seems there is some bugs or some optimization made per every microsoft mobile product. I will see if uploading the activesynce of T-mobile will violate the copyright, if not you will see it in the ftpserver shortly.
thanks for the replies. I am now wondering whether installing Outlook 2007 would help for the syncing problem between activesync 4.5 and wm6... ?
And #6, dymlu, I have installed activesync 4.5 and I am now syncing with my d810 in wm5 without problems.
I am using outlook 2007 with active sync 4.5. The speed is still slower compare to WM05 rom. Now i got problem with zonealarm, i need to shutdown it before activesync can sync with my PDA.
same problem here including activesync connection dropping on transfer of large files eg., video file over 1mb
i posted my problem here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=326455
With any hope, MS might make an ActiveSync 4.51 available?
Yes, same here. ActiveSync 4.5 with TMO Wing. Sinking PhatNotes to desktop, the rest of Outlook to my Exchange server. It's just slow, period. RNDIS?
the slow problem does not seem to be related to rndis, even with rndis disabled, the same problem persists. When i just try to sync the calendar events, the "tick" mark next to calendar appears fast, the problem is after that, it keeps on saying "synchronizing" for around 1 minute, apparently doing nothing. At that time, the cpu loading on the trinity seems to be quite high, and it becomes un-responsive.
reading the log files of activesync didn't help much (maybe because i couldn't understand it).
I installed SKTools and in the optimize tab, I made an 'optimize for performance' action, which made several modifications in the registry. (TCPIP packet size ...)
Synchronization is now faster, even if the task has still a priority near critical on the PPC.
SKTools is a shareware and since the modification is needed only once ...
Yes, Activesync is *extremely* slow in my case as well. I am sure that this there is an incompatibility between *Micro$oft* Activesync and *Micro$oft* WM6!!
The reson I say this is because I was using the bundled WM6 and Activesync and the speed was incredibly slow. The speed hasn't changed even now that I flashed a lighter ROM.
It's time for M$ developers to get into work!
Yep, slow for me too. I'm running Office 2007 (under XP), the latest WM6 ANZ firmware and syncing email, calendar and favorites.
Have tried changing various settings, but it's still powerfully slow!
Slow ActiveSync
I upgraded my hx2490 from wm5 to wm6.1 and data transfer is slower than old good 5 1/4 fdd
Hi All,
I currently have a Touch HD and a HD2, and while I like the WM6.1 / TF3D combo of the original Touch HD ROM, I decided to have a go at putting WM6.5 / Sense 2.5 on it, to see how it ran compared to my HD2 (which I've been having some issues with - slow running, freezing, etc).
I've upgraded the Touch HD to Dutty's The One ROM via HSPL, and the ROM seems to work very well, apart from the following issue, which I can't seem to figure out:
I've got the HD synching with my Exchange account, which works fine. Now I want to add my Hotmail account. Now, on the original HD ROM, and on the HD2, this works fine by going onto the Messaging tab and adding the Hotmail account (after setting it up in the Windows Live app initially). When I try this on the HD with Dutty ROM, it lets me go through the wizard, enter the password details, etc. But when I click finish, it just opens an Opera instance and directs me to mobile.live.com! Am I missing something?? MS MyPhone and Windows Live seem to work fine on this ROM (although I notice it's a different version of Windows Live that's on my HD2 standard ROM - Could this be it?).
Thanks in advance
d3m0n
Use this one:
|ROM |NOV 04| Duttys HD WM6.5 Leo Holy Grail R0 |CE 5.2.21869 |HTC SENSE||ONLINE||
I had no problems in hotmail :s
sorry i cant help
I think that might actually be the one I'm using (just double-checked, and yeah it is - I got confused as to the name, as he mentions it being "the one" in the description on HTCPedia)...
Strange thing is... It's working now! I had to hard reset and start over, but both Exchange and Hotmail are working within the Messaging tab (this time, Hotmail was added automatically after I completed Windows Live setup).
If this runs better than the HD2, I guess there'll be a HD2 for sale haha!

believe me, that rom is the perfect one for sense 2.5 and wm6.5. He made such a wonderful job. Its like his work at HD had finished, he made the perfect one.
Maybe one day he will do the perfect rom for hd2
About working, sometimes windows mobile is that way, unexplainable
Hey there,
I have the same problem kinda. I did not mess with the ROM at all, I only added a theme. But the thing is, I have a gmail on my HD2 and its great but when I tried to add my hotmail, that did not work and it took me to opera mobile and so on. So I doubt that it is an issue with the ROM here. here is how I am doing it: mail tab on the bottom--> menu--> add account. am I doing it wrong?
I was wondering, are many people using custom roms also use the combination Exchange/ActiveSync? I ask, cause I seem to always have lots of problems with my Exchange sync when using custom roms. It happened with my TP (starting 6.5), and now with my HD2. ActiveSync will tell it is connected, but no synchronization is happening and push does not work. It only works with manual sync, or scheduled sync. It is very annoying and it is pissing me off.
Is this a rom problem, or a HSPL problem? I love the performance of these roms, particularly Dutty since his are so nice and clean, but I *need* ActiveSync push properly working.
I have done hard resets, reflashes and everything I can think of. Nothing works. And I have tried the top5 fastest roms from the benchmarking thread. Flashing back to the stock rom, and everything is fine.
So right now, I seem to be stuck with either a relatively slow rom with push or a screaming fast one without push.
Any ideas or suggestions?
have you tried SONE HDv1.1/..? seems to work fine, speedy, complete rom, wit activesync and exchange.
im using exchange with my gmail contacts and calendar sync.
fist it dosent work when i sync both calendar and contacts, but then it works when i do it one at a time.
i tried contacts first, by selecting menu>options, and selecting just contacts
i let it sync,
then i de-selected contacts, and sync calendar...(tho it deletes all contact data on phone)..ad let it sunc as well.
after it syncd, hen checked them both..and this time works.
i still have problems with mail tho, dont have a clue how to get around that.
hope this helps.
Somehow that doesn't sound very encouraging.
For reference: I found it. For some reason it appears that 6.5 and higher roms do not appreciate you importing ActiveSync settings from a registry export, and require you to manually configure it. On 6.1 roms this works fine. Still annoying, since I like to set things up using UC, but at least it is working now.
this is the dilemma I always have. I've always stuck with stock ROMs because although they are inflated, and often buggy...they do work...mostly
the risk of moving to a custom ROM and finding that the apps I need don't work (I would be totaly screwed if I didnt have reliable push email.
then I think abut the new features that are available in 6.5.3 (threaded email for xample) and really want to move...but there's always the nagging that I will have to constantly reflash as custom ROMS seem to release fixes every couple of days!!
Hey everybody!
I presume there won't be too many people that will have had experience with the SMS sync feature, so I hope one or two people out there can help me.
I have the problem that everthing is activated, but it only synced the last conversation with my mate (so lets say 2 text messages out of a couple of hundred).
Anyone have an idea how to force exchange to sync ALL the messages?
Using a Touch Pro 2, in case that should help diagnostics move along a bit
Unfortunately i'm having this same issue. I would like to simply recreate the whole SMS/MMC folder in my Exchange box, but havn't found a way to force the behavior. I get the feeling SMS syncing was a last minute thought and not completely fleshed out.
As I said, strange thing is that everything that is coming in on the phone is now being synced...
all the messages prior aren't, with the exception of the 2 sms between me and my mate.
Gotta love Microsoft. Never gets boring....
Has anyone experienced any issues with syncing sms messages on the newer builds of 23xxx? Specifically I've noticed that when I send the messages from Outlook 2010, sometimes (not always) my phone gets really sluggish. The process activesync.exe starts using up tons of CPU usage. I'm currently using a HD2 using Kumar's ROM based on WM 6.5.5 b23569

I can definitely confirm that for my HTC HD Mini. It has a wm6.5.3 stock rom, i had to use Zenyee patch to disable HTC Messaging to get SMS Sync working, because HTC screwed up on that.
And I can confirm, that sending SMS through Outlook 2010 slows down the device and ActiveSync goes up to 98% cpu usage.
Any news on that? A hotfix or something?
Any solutions to this yet? I'm having the same issues + the issue that I can't send sms from Outlook but only from Outlook OWA

you need outlook 2010 to be able to send SMS's from outlook itself, any other version will not work, ive had 2003, 2007 and now 2010, and only 2010 does it.
also ive expirienced my phone being slow and useless when SMS syncing is enabled, its really a pain in the ass.
ive gone through 20 phones in the last 2 months, constantly buying and selling, its getting ridiculous, no 1 phone does everything i want.
all i need is full exchange connectivity (tasks and sms included), mobile office so i can use my spreadsheets, slide out keyboard, 3G, decent camera with flash. its obviously neither android, WM or apple can meet all those requirements.
After destroying my HD2 accidentally I received a Streak after claiming for a replacement (gold insurance). I was running Android on the HD2.
Disappointed to find it's only Android 1.6, I understood it came with 2.1 installed with a Froyo update imminent.
It's very important to me that I have my contacts, email and calendar syncing with my zarafa server (hosted on my website and managed by me).
It was a real downer to find activesync is not enabled on the Streak but at least there was touchdown to use for a trial period.
I filled in the correct details but no matter what I did Touchdown couldn't connect with my server, I kept getting an error (from "Refresh Activesync Settings") something about Policies and an error ":200" (I think as the problem is now resolved).
I could find the odd thing about this error after googling it, but no reports of fixing the problem.
After many hours of searching I decided to update my zarafa installation to see if that fixed the problem (I'm running 4.20) but before that I thought I'll upgrade z-push (easy bits first).
One upgrade of Z-push later, and a restart of zarafa and touchdown works a treat (contacts not showing up in the phone's main contacts but I assume that's just a setting).
In a nutshell if you get this error and youre using z-push try using 1.4.2 as that's what fixed it for me.
Hopefully this will help someone.
For me I had to set "loose-provisioning" to true for it to work with Touchdown.
But you should really think about upgrading Zarafa as there were several enhancement regarding Z-Push.

Probably, but the version I'm running offers everything I need and I'm a big believer in if it ain't broke don't fix it .
I do know my version works fine with Froyo.
Having said all that I also like to tinker, and just backed up the db so maybe I'll have a shot at upgrading next week.
