4g is.not.in dayton yet
from my phone duh
its still a crapshoot in northern KY, closer to the river or airport the better it seems, no signal at my house in independence, but I got a poor to weak signal at the Target in florence last night at work., but at least I know it works on my phone.
Keep in mind for the Cleveland network, we will be continually adding towers through April 2011. The coverage map on sprint.com will be updated every 15 days to reflect the changes
Still no love for detroit? Get it together sprint!

Woohoo for 4G in LA!
We've had it here unofficially for a while, but it was always spotty. Although I've had a solid two bars of it from my house since they first started testing it out here.
Time to flash a Sense ROM and turn on the Wimax.

Weird. I was in DC end of Sept through mid October and 4g was up and running fine.
Dam I'm only 1 mile from a freakin spot of 4G that's in the wilderness park in south OC. Otherwise I would have to commute 10 miles to get more stable 4G, O well hope they build more towers soon for the rest of Orange county.

lubbock = texas tech.
Is it just me or I could care less. 4G is unusable IMHO. The battery drain isn't worth the extra bandwidth. T-Mo's HSDPA is the direction every wireless carrier should be looking at.
still no memphis.
wtf
Maybe Omaha?
For about the last week or two service has been almost nonexistent when I use the phone at my house and it was because Sprint said they were updating their towers. I have lived in the same place for 6 years and have never had an issue like this. Has anyone in a 4G city noticed this happening shortly before it gets launched or am I just reading too much into it unfortunately?

Couldn't believe it the other day, I had heard 4G was coming to Los Angeles in late 2010. So... I turned on 4G the other day outside my office and... BING 4G SOLID signal. To put it mildly, my jaw dropped.
I have been driving around with 4G on and everywhere I go in Hollywood has had a 4G signal. Thought it was just them testing, but I have been able to get 4G every time I came to work.
North of Hollywood the signal drops to 3G.
Sweet! Where abouts in Hollywood are you? Near the 101?
Great to hear! I will be on a plane in the morning..
I'm not kidding, I am flying out there for E3, but NICE. ;O

I was in Westwood near UCLA, got 4G signal as well.
I guess parts of LA have 4G now. But San Gabriel Valley and OC still do not have 4G yet.
Yea 4g has been active in testing phase in L.A. since mid may
Yesterdy, I was in a sprint store in Alhambra to try the evo, it doesn't have 4g signal.
You can usually get a 4G signal near any Best Buy which is broadcasting 4G from what I believe. Right there on the 405 and the 10 you can get it, which I suspect is coming from the Best Buy on Pico. Driving from south on the 405 I could get it around Santa Monica and west on 10, it fades off just after Bundy.
C'mon Sprint... bring it to the I.E.

That is not true. There was a rumor that some Radio Shacks were using 4G repeaters, but there are no Best Buy stores doing this.

You may be right... I used an app called Cell Mapper to measures signal strength and maps it. It also changed color as it went from 3G to 4G. I noticed that going south on the 405 from the valley, I started to pick up a 4G signal around the Getty. It went all the way down to the 10 and down past Centinla. So it seems that West LA is covered.
Then last night I drove via downtown and Hollywood. I got a Signal as I got close to downtown on the 10, and had a signal (with a few tips back to 3G) on the 101 all the way up to hollywood until I hit barum.
So 4G is really starting to show up in some big areas in LA. Now I wish that the East Valley and Venice would get it...

Interesting, do you know if it's been turned off recently? I live one mile east, next to the Grove, and had great 4G service from the launch day (3-5 Mbs in phone, 6-8(!) tethered to a laptop via USB). But since a couple weeks ago, all I get now is the 4G availability notification, but the data connection is not at 4G speeds (status bar icon never appears). This happened right around the June 28th OTA update, which included the radio update, which makes me wonder if we were not supposed to be getting 4G coverage yet in the first place (while ClearWire is still deploying).
I got 4G at the Convention Center during E3 too, but haven't checked that area recently.

The signal strength is really just your strength to the tower, not your connection to the internet, just FYI I have had higher speeds with 1-2 bars than with a full signal. Anyway there are some spots in Houston, TX near where I work that I can get ~8-10Mbps down on, but I usually average about half that. Here are some pics, also btw a download test is a bit more accurate than those "speed tests" they can lie to you sometimes.

Yup. Northern VA, Richmond, Hampton Roads >>>> Colorado . We don't have any 4G here in Hampton Roads that I know of yet (no Evo til Monday), but there is a new Clearwire antenna/tower near my girlfriends house. I hope there are many more of those to come and soon.

I have been able to get WiMAX in Manassas on 234 near the Barnes and Noble. Also, just up the road in Centreville at 66 & 28. Good thing too because in both or those areas the 3G service is terrible. This is one main reason holding me back from upgrading to the Evo LTE or the Galaxy SIII since I will no longer have 4G.
Clearwire announced on Thursday that it has begun rolling out its 4G WiMAX service to seven new cities in four states. The lucky seven include Eugene, OR., Merced, CA., Visalia, CA., Yakima, WA., Tri-Cities, WA., Rochester, NY., and Syracuse, NY. Folks in these locales who are already rocking an HTC EVO 4G or an Overdrive 3G/4G mobile hotspot can sit back and enjoy their newly acquired 4G speeds. Those of you still sporting last year’s 3G technology now have a reason to jump on board the WiMAX bandwagon.

Congrats to all y'all that just got it. We've had it here in St. Louis since the Evo launch, but it just went official about a week or two ago. Gotta say, it's nice!

I shake my tiny fist at you, Clearwire! It pains me to see people with ATT in my building getting 2.1mbps when I'm getting ~500kbps.
Get it out here in the suburbs of Chicago. Haven't had a chance to take it downtown yet, will try it when we hit Burnham Harbor this weekend. Will be honest, didn't look at the 4G coverage map before buying the phone ... wasn't really sure if it would bleed out here.

holy crap! i get 3.5mb down, 1mb up on a very weak signal... i got my fingers crossed that it'll cross the 5mb threshold once the signal gets stronger over the next few months.
Ok, Socal is huge. We know it has been located in Costa Mesa, OC, & Westwood.
It's now in the SFV, Canoga Park.
Sprint's site indicates a 'future tower' around Chatsworth by the 118, maybe it's active now.
first of all the image i get is a speedtest app screen capture.,
second of all, scrpints coverage map shows "furure sprint 3g network tower" so im not sure where you are getting a 4g tower from.
waterboy, it's true...I get 4g in Burbank, Glendale, Pasadena, West Covina and Pomona......
They are definitely testing out 4G in the area. I've had signal in Irvine close to John Wayne Airport, in Anaheim near the 91 between 57 and 55 freeways, and in Los Angeles near the federal building. So yea, its coming.
i hit enter too soon.
i know that there is 4g up in other places i have gotten it in Burbank and around Staples center downtown.
I was in Chatsworth yesterday and there was no 4g yet.
also, is it safe to assume that any future tower is 4g compatible? or was OP looking at a different map.
I'm no expert with cell towers, but I made an assumption that they are probably backwards compatible. The 3G coverage in that area is sufficient to say the least, so another inclination to question them putting in another 3G tower and not 4G.
The screen cap shows the 4G signal and a speedtest show bandwidth speeds. Was that so confusing?

I think Sprint is rolling them out in SoCal for sure... it used to be I can only get spotty coverage in downtown, now it's improved and in San Gabriel Valley area, they rolled them out as well. The furtherest WiMax coverage around SGV I noticed is as far as 19/Valley.

I had it pick up a signal by my home (by 10 & 15 fwy), near Ontario Mills Mall, I was able to do a speedtest before the 4G signal was lost, it did 6Mbps download, 2Mbps upload, not bad for a weak signal with 1 bar...
