12/1 UPDATE -- this has superseded by a newer fix that also fixes the camera, and removes the questionable VOLD binary. It is part of TnT Lite 2.1.0 and above.
This update is EXPERIMENTAL and I would recommend the utmost caution attempting this. I would recommend that you make a full backup with a tool like clockworkmod recovery first. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
What this is
A update to the Tegra drivers and library files. We discovered this thanks to mcb00f , as it was originally designed as performance pack for the Advent Vega.
This significantly improves the performance of the tablet - Quadrant scores on TnT Lite increase to 2300+ and the browser definitely seems faster. This update.zip should also be mod-agnostic and might work on the zPad and possibly CM6.1. Again, use at your own risk!
EDIT: Rothnic reports that this variant should work on zPad: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9480565&postcount=36. There's some issues with the vold binary and permissions that required a separate package for zPad.
EDIT2: new update for zPad, from Rothnic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9493631&postcount=105
Why this is a experimental build / known issues
One known issue is that this will break the camera. We have not been able to figure out how to fix this, and perhaps we never will. Go on the assumption that the camera will be broken as long as you use this experimental update. There could also be other issues that we haven't found yet.
EDIT: On my Ubuntu x64 system, I cannot seem to properly copy files to /sdcard anymore. They seem to work, but clockworkmod cannot run them, for reasons unknown. I can also mount /data onto my Ubuntu PC, which I've never been able to do before.
Link to update.zip based file, for TnT Lite 2.x: http://www.mediafire.com/?w53wue1bkjduanq
md5sum: 70b1156ef1f78ae67a0c01684b4eb6c3
I would recommend clockworkmod to use this update (just run it as a update.zip file) -- the zip is designed with that in mind, and if you aren't semi-technical you should probably avoid this update, anyway. I am not going to support this like I would the TnT Lite build - if you have major problems, you should just revert back to your previous build - I would not consider this stable and, as mentioned, it will break things.
How is storage mapping? Still working correctly?
Saw your reply in the other thread. No change to current TnT mapping.
Thanks again roebeet!
I started with 2.02 - The Camera App doesn't work, no biggie, but the tablet is much smoother. Scrolling in ADW.Launcher is noticeably smoother. Quadrant Benchmark scores were ~1850 and are now 2550.
I can see SDCard and SDCard2 in Root Explorer. No Problems there.
So far, this is an awesome update. Recommended unless you need the camera.

Installed successfully, browser definitely feels faster. Thanks!

No issues with storage. The camera is borked and my only other concerns right now are things like audio and video playback.
Working, although was getting force closes so I did a wipe in cw which took care of it.
This thing is flying now.. no issues except camera as reported, thanks again.
Does not load on CM6.1 beta 4
gojimi might have a fix for the camera. I'm going to test it out and, assuming no issues, I might integrate into a future TnT Lite supplement. For now, there's this experimental update to play around with.
EDIT: Might not be working. Don't get your hopes up.
Flash still work? With better drivers, should perform even better, as well as video files that are not Flash.

I tested Flash and it still works. Performance seems about the same to me. But the browser in general seems faster to render.

I can understand the why not clear data... but why would you Not want to clear cache? I have always cleared cache with updates even if I thought the update may be doing it also, as in the past I've seen so many unexplained problems when folks didn't... Only cost is a slower first restart... but has been a big win more than once, so I'd always opt for the slow first restart...

Thanks.
Went from 1759 to 2335 on quadrant, the whole system seems much faster and I couldn't care less about the camera.
Seriously the camera sucks ass on this thing to begin with so nothing of value was lost.
oh btw youtube actually works now!
Wow!
Youtube works perfectly, as does the always picky G4 client app. Flash seems to be better too. To test this, please go to a more challenging site that may have been iffy before. Case in point, the always merciless IGN.COM and watch a few reviews or trailers
Averaging 2400 with Quadrant (Min 2298 & Max 2518)
PSX4Droid is faster too, so nice icing on an already nice performing cake there. Tekken 3 is close to full FPS now, if not full. This game chokes on standard atom netbooks. Sound is still an issue (barely OK), but that is the emulator- not the device.
Higher def wmv and MP4s that choked before, play smooth now (not tried 1080p, since overkill for a portable IMO ).
Roeby, to you and the person/s helping you I am humbled. Great job in making the device close to outstanding in less than a month. VS SHOULD BE PAYING YOU AND USING THIS AS A COMPLETE PACKAGE. Instant big seller. They are losing money NOT doing this.
BTW: 500gb Western Digital USB drives work fine in FAT32. Using one right now and NOT plugged into an outlet for the drive or Gtablet.
In summary: Dang!
h264 high profile videos still don't work, but I expected that - I believe that's a hardware limitation of the chipset. EDIT: Xvid standard def MKV's now work smooth in Rockplayer - but audio still goes out of sync. Getting better, though.
Live Wallpapers seem to bog the system down less. Previously, I would turn off LW's because of this.
I would love to get this integrated into TnT Lite as a stable update, but I'd have to test what gojimi is cooking up. I plan to do that tomorrow.

The more I use this.. the More i realize that Archos needs some majoy fixes coming soon.. The performance on Android 2.2 is actually pretty bad. I think 2.1 ran better.. I can't do more than 2 tabs at a time in the browser. if I do 3 I get mad lag and freezing and often leads to complete freeze if one has flash on it.. Last night it rebooted twice on me after freezing on simple flash sites like Engadget.. My G1 ran better to be honest. Yea it didn't have flash. but my G1 ran better.
At first I was liking 2.2 and it seemed pretty good. but constantly killing tasks trying to keep performance good is getting old. yea yea 256mb ram. People keep saying this, but the Original Droid runs great compared to this. They have pretty similar hardware.. I sure hope root, and a custom rom comes out soon, that or Archos updates 2.2 and actually ENABLES the JIT Compiler and other things this time. cuz performance is slower on 2.2 than on 2.1
I wanna keep this, but I don't at the same time. lol
From what some people with insider information are saying, there will be an update soon. I think they released froyo because they said they would and not because they thought it was perfect. Still have hope something good is coming. Actually I find that the device runs quite ok even though I have to use the task killer very often.

LauncherPro completely eliminated the response lag for me, and I haven't needed to run a kill since I installed it.
There are only two important settings to optimize performance in the Menu->Preferences. In the General Setting, check "Keep in memory". In the Advanced Settings->Memory Usage Settings, set the 'Memory usage preset' to 'High'.
The device is now faster than it was in 2.1. Archos should be shipping this launcher instead of the default (or properly tune the default launcher).

Agreed I am using ADW Launcher and it is now buttery smooth. - Edit: It completed froze up on me several times since then and I have since removed ADW, it was great for responsiveness and scrolling but it was eating memory like crazy.

i noticed major issues with my archos 28 and 43.the problem was because i installed the Google market from archos fans.its cool and all but i erased it and restored them.they ran near perfect.with market installed i had battery issues and touchscreen issues.if you have market installed and your device is acting up,get rid of market and maybe try again.

I have since swiched to Zeam Launcher and I love the drawer, and have not had to kill any processes yet. I may have found a winner!
Try doing a full wipe and reinstall. I was having charging issues and did the full wipe and it not only fixed my charging issue, but it sped the whole thing up (even w/out z4root) ad its been far more stable too.
It does that for me too. Much faster and smoother after a full wipe. Runs perfect now with very rare issues of freezing... I was having much more issues beforehand, even z4root not rooting (Which might have been because of app2sd).
All my apps are on the tiny 300MB space now...
Yup me too. Ut is really snappy without even being rooted.
Did a quadrant without root - got 860.
Rooted - 1019.
No lag and no issues on my 70.

with the new beta firmware the quadrant result is up for 25 %
Ive got the 101 with 2.2 but Im getting ready to sell it off. Im just not happy with it and even IF custom ROMs and perm rooting happens, the limitation of the app storage and 256 RAM is a killer for me. I thought it would perform ok and for some I guess it does but it isnt living up to me standards.
Maybe the G-Tab or Adam will be better
Yea im not sure what i think anymore. I was loving it for a day or 2.
Ive been running LP n it made scrolling better, but thats all. I feel like overall stock is better.
ive been having even more major problems after writing that post. Now archos tv out, music, and video widgets all crash on startup and FC if i try to open them. It has froze completely 4 times tonight. Restarted 3 on its own. Browser cant handle more than 2 tabs.. i just wiped my device back to stock once again. For now things seem pretty good. Ill give it a few days stock n see. But been smooth the last hour or so
Im seriously considering selling it and getting a like new Galaxy Tab. The G was decent, and the N Ink is unproven n not even shown its hardware in a while.. but i have high hopes. Well see. I do agree froyo was not ready n needs some serious work. Archos needs a update asap

Great news! Hopefully it is working at least as good as the 1.0.84 (no SMB and WPA2 wifi issues)
Issues keeping me from loving it (I think these are all pretty common):
No access to the files on my WHS except via UPnP (SMB Folder Empty issue)
Graphical lock no longer shows green lines (it does unlock though)
WIFI occasionally quits until I stop/restart it
Flash is slower than dirt and causes Dolphin HD to FC a lot (I ended up uninstalling flash)
General lagginess unless I constantly kill tasks
WHS seems to have an authorisation problem, as with every linux box smb seems to work flawlessly ( as with my buffalo Mini ).
As there is no official Flash you can only have one that was designed for another device, so that explains a little.
I personaly have only seen the remark from archos that they have a hw accelerated version in a certification process by adobe.
And the rest might be already fixed, if i would know anything or could talk about it.

Yeah, the issue is that Archos doesn't give you a way to specify the username/password combination to use to connect to the SMB server. I bet if I turned on guest access to my WHS it would work, but I'd prefer not to do that...
I'm pretty disappointed in the Xoom so far. My Droid X seems to perform better than it, despite it's single core. Is there hope for the following issues? I don't want to return my Xoom, but I'm just a tad upset spending so much on it...
These are the problems I'm having:
Slow downs using YouTube app
Slow downs on home screens and app drawer
Poor browser performance on all browsers (speed, display, text input)
Video recording and playback is choppy/unreliable
Bluetooth tether to Droid X is hit and miss (WiFi works fine)
Volume buttons are darn near impossible to use (lol)
I realize these are all software issues, and CAN be fixed, but does it seem likely? I know the G1 still has development going on and just want to get the most out of this mammoth.
I hate to say it, but I think there might be something wrong with your XOOM since I have experienced none of those problems. Perhaps it needs a factory reset or something?
I definitely agree regarding the volume buttons though, very frustrating to use! Thankfully you only have to hit either one once and then you can control the slider on screen.

Only problem I have from your list is youtube HD playback. Rest is perfectly fine.
I've found the Xoom to be sluggish at places, even after factory resets. I do think it's a software problem as my O2X (same Tegra chip) isn't slow at all.
Overall it feels like Honeycomb was a bit rushed, and that some things could use a bit more performance tuning.
I think this may be some issue with your device hardware. I got no such slowdowns on my xoom. I concur sometimes youtube hd playback can be sluggish, but it depends on the wifi you're connectrd to speed.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
mine works fine except hd videos in youtube. disable the hd once u can n it will be fast. u can try a factory reset too
one question: How long have you had your xoom?
The reason I ask is for the first couple days after i got my xoom I was AMAZED by how much slower it was than my EVO. After a couple days though it seemed to smooth out and pick up speed.
Overall I'm less impressed with the xoom than I expected to be but I would recommend to any new xoom owner to reserve forming any opinions about it until it sees at least a couple days use.
I guess I'll ride it out for a few more days. I've had it about 4 days. I'll likely go play with a display and see what I get.
Have you flashed a new kernel? The latest tiamat kernel is (in my experience) smoother then stock (and has SD support). But the main thing is wait a few more days for the slowness to stop.
Sent from my Xoom the way it should be, rooted and with SD card.
also you might want to take it back and exchange it i had a bad power button and a few of the problems you have stated in your post so i took mine back and exchanged. Second one worked great and fine so i decided to keep my xoom and root it.
Never had any of those issues listed either. Might want to try the Tiamat kernal and see if that helps out.
Maybe a lemon. Go back to exchange it. Mine is working kicking ass.
OK, so I installed the 1.4.1 Tiamat kernel and wiped data. She seems to be running much better now. The typing in web pages is still a little slow, but I no longer get repeated letters when typing quickly. That was a big problem. I'm much happier, but some things are still a little slow. Looks like things could get better. Thanks for the help. If it's still slow next week after no wipes I'll exchange it as suggested.

I noticed the same thing. I rooted as soon as it was available and even with OC it just wasn't smooth. I couldn't get a single live wallpaper to run without slowing the Xoom to a crawl. Then last night I flashed the latest Tiamat kernel and its like a brand new Xoom!
I was going to go back to factory to see if that was the issue, but instead I tried the kernel first. So the two things I did was flash Clockwork recovery and flashed the Tiamat kernel (which cleared cache and Dalvik cache). Whatever it was, its awesome and I have been downloading all the live wallpapers just cause I can!
Mine was a little slow as well and seemed to balance out. Still not as smooth as my Evo for video though, which is depressing. I really expected to see updates by now to fine-tune things.
The silicone cover from Moto completely resolves the volume button issues by making them more prominent and easy to find.

This doesn't sound anything like a xoom to me. Mine has been running very smoothly from the moment I first turned it on. I even tried to OC to 1.5Ghz but then I changed back to 1Ghz cause it was unnecessary. Maybe you should ask moto to check if there's anything wrong with ur xoom or even get you another one .
Do or problem as well ?
Some streaming site worked well with 3.0.1
...and now the video is degraded with 3.1
I got same problem. Now flash movie on web site not run smooth as 3.01.
my personal experience is the opposite, like no question here at all, on 3.0.1 i would get stutters and laggy playback, and since the 3.1 update i have seen literally no lag or stuttering playing back 720p on imbedded video playback, youtube, anything. i keep seeing all these issue posts and threads about the 3.1 update but i am personally not experiencing any of them, my browser is an snappy as my ipad's browser, games/video playback anywhere (any quality) is perfect, navigation of any part of the os is snappier than before, battery life is exactly the same, i am happy with everything, i just want to be able to root 3.1 without adb and ill be 100% happy..

Why are you watching youtube using flash when we have an app that lets us view the video using hardware acceleration?
flash seems to have improved for me
My Flash has gotten so much worse in both the stock Browser and Dolphin that I have gone back to using my ipad1 whenever I want to access a site that has an ios version. It's strange that the degradation is only when you use the browser, not an app.

i did not factory reset, but i havent ever rooted because i wanted the 3.1 update from asus and i read about some disadvantages in primordial, but i really didnt do anything special, just the official update, and i definately meant youtube specifically from the youtube app itself, but from the browser streaming and playing 720p from imbedded videos and/or other means than youtube hasnt lagged on me either (yet** i dont have the invincible tf), the one video "provider" that just plain doesnt work is vimeo for me, i think its a flash 10.3 issue or something because when hitting play the box goes black and never plays. i was just relaying my experience, i think after an update or 2 honeycomb is really going to make apple nervous though
I can't watch ESPN videos anymore. Does anyone know why? I think it was a result of Flash 10.2 and not Honeycomb 3.1. I've done some searches, but I haven't found anything really for the transformer.
Does anyone else have this problem? It just shows up as a picture and never plays video.

you do not know that the net uses a lot of flash video with the same cuts completely different? Flash knows how to manage everything by cons if the hardware part is not done properly, Flash is degraded.

the above pictures highlight the problem perfectly, i have a second batch transformer and upgraded after first boot to 3.1 i was also thinking steve jobs was right re flash my ipad1 pisses all over my transformer, in every video test ive done, granted its rooted\jailbroken but at this moment apart from the dull UI the only thing it cant do is read anything over a 1 gig usb stick or sd card for movies. I now find it incredible how slick the ipad is with only 256mb ram. Even google are working away from flash. Still loving my transformer, but so wanted it to be everything my desire hd is compared to the iphone 4. I have even found my self going back to my ipad for invoicing and word processing, pages and numbers are slick. Come on google, this thing has loads of horse power and is running like a vw beatle.

Hello,
Following the problems encountered, I wrote the team has adobe flash. After several exchanges of mail, they understood the problem. The person I spoke with said he passed the baton to the service of development, and they would arrange to get a tablet asus to see what happens.
Hi,
That's very helpful, thanks for the information. It's definitely something we want to look into.
I've opened a bug, and I have an email into our customer engineering team to try and get a tablet to test with.

Video playback can be solved with good video player.
Battery life pretty much the same on every rom depends how u use it.

I'm sure battery life is so different on stock. Video playback can be solved with dice player. But I need to pay it.

OK, do tell us now why you don't use symbian and your dislike for iOS or maybe even WP. And than tell us about why you don't use other stock.zip roms and make sure you do the same about every custom kernel as well.
What is the point of this thread? You left enough silly posts on CM thread already. Why would one care about u not using CM7.
Should we all now write posts about it?

Sounds like you hate CM7. Although I'll just take your post as an informative reminder for people debating on whether to jump from stock to CM7.
Much like stock, CM7 isn't perfect. Whichever benefits you more, choose it. Personally, I'm a huge fan of CM7. Just keep in mind that Android is all about choices.
It's a good guess that Samsung won't update our phones to ICS, so sooner or later if you want to stay up to date you will have to use CM.

No I don't hate cyanogenmod. I hate samsung because of source codes. I am a big cyanogenmod fan too. But today the status is that.

I can do this. There is no reason for don't do. (WTF is iOS?) Because I'm not a fan boy. But take a look. On CM thread the fanboys avoiding real bugs. Accelerometer sensor is not only one. Their sensors are not good too. But they says my screen turns well. WTF. How can you understand accuary of that sensors turning screen 270 degrees! I follow cyanogen by nightly 28. Now thats 18x. Main reason is samsung. I know all will be fixed on cm9. But that is that on this time.

While i agree that the content of this thread started by being kind of useless, people may take this as reference. With that in mind i'll add my personal experience to OP's arguments. I am assuming the latest stable CM release for this which is what i use daily since it came out. Pointing out bugs or stuff failing in nightlies is totally pointless, after all.
I have to use a custom kernel. Because 3D performance is so poor on stock cm kernel.
> wouldn't know. Have around 25 games installed and had issues with none. I don't dabble very much with heavy 3D games on a phone, not a fan of the virtual analog stick. Never felt the need for a kernel change either, CM's stock does everything i need.
-Yaffs2 is so corruptable.
> i had this as not being true. Think i've seen somewhere people saying there was no trouble with this file system. According to YAFFS's website
(http://yaffs.net/yaffs-nand-specific-flash-file-system-introductory-article)
"YAFFS uses journaling, error correction and verification techniques tuned to the way NAND typically fails, to enhance robustness."
So, if it's a filesystem using journaling, it has a way of reducing a chance of data corruption like the alternatives. Not sure about other differences between FS's but i've read this is what people deem as acceptable for data loss prevention.
Also, i've yet to experience data loss.
-No TV-Out because of samsung source codes.
> indeed. If this is a must have then it's a deal breaker. Although i'm yet to see anyone around me having a SGS that would actually use it's tv-out features. Never even seen on sale the specific tvout cable this phone uses in my country.
-With stock samsung camera app we have panaroma mode. Which is a new feature of new ics. We have it since eclair.
> True story. But that's easy to overcome. Just get an app from market like photaf.
-Even no world clock or timer on aosp. We have smart alarm with stock.
> Again, loads of apps on market, just pick your poison.
-I have to flash gapps.
> You gave yourself the trouble to replace a whole system. That's far more trouble than flashing a simple package. Takes just a few seconds to do it. And most you can get from market too.
-I have to flash radio. (JVK is not good for me.)
> If your stock rom doesn't bring the one that works for you you'd have to flash it anyway. It's quite fast too as modems are really small.
-Compass is not good. And gps too.
> Yea, i've seen some people saying this as well. I downloaded "Compass" from market and tried it out in several places comparing to a real one. Didn't make much difference so i'm assuming it's working correctly. GPS is a worn out subject. never really worked for me, no matter what rom i used.
-No hardware acceleration. Browser is laggy. Flash items too.
> I'm not even sure if any rom actually used hardware acceleration for browsing. First time i've heard about doing it was ICS. I did hear people saying something about browser being laggy if it was deodexed and if some compiler (not sure) was being used. But to be honest i've never used the default browser. Always been with opera mobile (it's important being the mobile and not mini). No lag whatsoever. Flash does stutter for a micro second while loading but it does play well and lag free after that. But this is flash we're talking about, it's heavy by nature.
-There is no real hapctic feedback.
> Not sure what you mean. Settings -> Sound settings -> Haptic feedback (last setting on the bottom). Don't like it but just tried it and it works.
-Accelerometer is laggy. Because of libs.
> Another one i've seen some people saying. Works great here i can play games like abduction and labyrinth perfectly. Also downloaded "Accelerometer" from market and it seems to be working fine.
-Battery life is still not much.
> Depends on how much you use it. Lasts easily a day with a few phone calls, loads of text messages, around 4 hours/day of screen on, always with wireless on. Got home at the end of the day and still had around 40%. More than a day is unrealistic, most likely i'd just end up having enough power for half a day if i don't charge overnight. While we're at it, CM doesn't have that dealbreaking bug that can be found on stock roms that makes your phone start using battery when it gets charged to 100% causing massive battery drops when the charger is unplugged. I actually downgraded to froyo just to prevent that.
-Touchwiz calendar and clock is great. Also I like tw keyboard launcher and great sns feature.
> i'm not sure what to say here. If it's touchwiz laucher you're missing you can just download it from the applications section here in XDA. Calendar and clocks have better alternatives from market anyway and i always replace the stock sms app with handcent or GO SMS pro.
-720p video recording + playing = choppy.
> i go to lots of concerts. Always record about half of it on the best resolution the phone has. No issues. Likewise for reproducing them later. Actually, video usually comes out better on dark places than photos.
-Touch pointer can't stand fast moves. Open multitouch test and move your finger a bit fast. Pointer will come after your finger. A bit laggy.
> I used a real case instead. Opened a multitouch keyboard (gingerbread), held my left index finger on shift and my right index finger swiping on the rest of the keyboard. Wasn't laggy at all, letter preview shows up instantly as soon as i go from one letter to another.
-Wireless signal is so poor. I can't connect in my room. (I write this from my room now. Stock JVT.)
> That's just your modem though and you can replace it for whatever works best for you. CM's stock (JVK) gives me the same results as any other modem i used. Always found it a very decent range as i can pick networks from neighbors even 2 apartments away.
-Provider can't understand your phone model so you must set your apns yourself.
> Mine did. I was kind of surprised it did actually, since i'm from portugal. Didn't need to set anything up, just worked.
-I can't see some apps on market with market enabler. I can with stock.
> Not sure how to test this. Can you tell of an app you can't see so i can try it out?
-I have to flash every nightly for a reason. And all needs fix some permissions..
> You don't have to flash them every night. It is actually unadvisable to do so since they are experimental and may screw up something with your phone. Just stick with the stable and if you feel you need to update it, read reviews about what your're flashing carefully first.
-People says you don't have to calibrate battery after every nightly. But cwm uncalibrating battery as hell already.
> You may have been reading the wrong stuff. You calibrate your battery after flashing a new rom. That's it. Poor battery performance is expected after that but evens out after a few charges. And again, you don't really need to flash all those nightlies. Just think about CM as any other rom. Others don't have updates every night either, you just flash it and be done with. Just do the same with CM.
But whatever works for you. Like someone said, no one really cares about what you use, if you feel comfortable with your setup, stick with it - it's all about choice.
I just did this because someone said it would take reference from this post for future people searching for reviews and since i get very different results from yours, i felt like reporting mine in your specific bullet points.
I stopped using it for a simple reason, I kept having issues with voice calls where the other party could not hear me. That was a deal breaker, as my phone is first and foremost a work tool and I cannot afford an unreliable phone

We have hw acceleration with touchwiz browser. Amazingly smooth flash and scrolling.
Accelerometer is not smooth like stock.
Wireless signal depends on kernel not modem. Drivers are there.
You can't even just open dungeon defenders to play. As a 3D game.
Yesterday I have 7 hours screen on with stock. 3g off I have great uv.
For market look gameloft games. Gt racing for example.
3rd party clock and calendar hooks up my small ram. And so cheap quality on market.
Where can I download TW3 for cm7? I tried one and it lags like mad. Because no hw acceleration.
Hapctic feedback is not full. Compare the solo lite app from market with stock.

You're right about the wireless drivers being on the kernel. But as i said, CM's stock works great for me.
Not sure what you meant with those 7h of screen... I mentioned my usage, not the limit on how much would my battery last if i had the screen on all the time.
You are right about gameloft games. But there are 2 very simple solutions to that: just get it from android market's website or replace your build.prop with the one on this thread:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/33366-gameloft-games-not-showing-in-market/
I've seen a Touchwiz 4.5 app on the app section. Not sure specifically about TW3. I used 4.5 once on some other rom and liked it very much. But still not good enough for me to change from Go luncher and all those Go widgets though.
About hardware accelerated stuff, glad you found whatever works for you, the whole point of my answer wasn't proving you wrong, just telling people that other people have experienced differently in most of those points you were complaining.
Hey guys. I am no dev and waiting as patiently as possible for "beta" ICS build. I would just love to know from you pro tinkerers how is the overall system performance? Are the home screen scrolling and animations smooth? Is it impressive because ICS is better optimized or is the hardware showing its age?
I stay with CM7 for now until 4 or 5 releases of CM9.
I've been very impressed with the sneakpeaks and in fact have been using them as a daily. I recommend doing your own builds though just to make sure everything is current (only reason I haven't is due to VM issues).
I mainly use mine for browsing, email, and PDF reading so I haven't had any issues with it.
If anything you can give it a shot and try it yourself (emmc or SD) then go back if needed.
Sound still not working, right?
Sound works fine for me in sneakpeak2, but the boost in dal's tweaks isn't working. Headphones are OK. Was watching Ghostbusters earlier.
I just loaded samian303's nightly build from 1/11 and so far so good listened to Pandora radio earlier and been able to do everything I could do on CM7.1. Though I have not tried video yet..

Oh, it's great to hear.
I haven't caught up with ICS lately.
I've been pretty happy with it. The only problem I had was that it did not see any of the media on my SD card. On that note...any ideas?
I just installed the most recent build and I am amazed how functional it is. The only trouble I have noted (with very limited tinkering) is flash player and the ics movie studio app.
All my media is there on emmc and sdcard, and movies play fine.
I hadn't realized how close they had gotten. There may be more serious problems that I haven uncovered, but I am considering making this an every day ROM. Everything else is minor minor stuff.
I have tried samian303's nightly build from an SD card and really like the progress from my first build of it. It's getting close to a beta or RC I would think.
ICS works very well the only thing it is missing that CM7 has is video playback. Other than that most everything works fine.

I am running the latest nightly and am over clocked to 1325. Runs very smooth for such an early build!

works okay
Ive been using it for a day or so and it seems to work fine to me. Just a lot of little odds and ends to adjust/clear up. A lot of apps are not showing up in market yet I can install them from my titanium backup.
Not bad at all
I've been using it since sneakpeek2 and have had a totally fun time with it. Took a few tweaks to get Calendar sync going, to get the launcher I wanted (I use Zeam) and to get everything looking the way I want it to but it's reliable enough for me to use daily.
The one annoying issue (besides video stuff which is just icing on the cake for me) is that the ICS Gmail app doesn't fit the screen, it cuts off at the edges, but this might have been resolved in a nightly or there might be a tweak that I haven't found yet, still searching. If anyone sees one, let me know.
For video I'm just using moboplayer and set default for software decoding. Works well enough for me so far, but I haven't thrown anything heavy at it.
ICS is a little buggy but for the most part its on point!!!

Not really. I would say its more like upgrading from windows XP to windows 7. everything feels more redefined . You should really give it a go. Try dual nothing a nightly. I'be been using it for 2 days now and its superb
