I´ve happily bought a used Streak for 340 bucks (euros) ...the seller has told me that he has updated the Streak on Android Version 2.1...but the Systeminfo is telling me that it´s not updated (uh,...that´s what I´m THINKING)

...am I able to update my Streak on 2.2 the normal way or do I have to make a rollback first?
EDIT: And how can I figure out if he did anything "unnatural" to this phone (rooting e.g.)?
You are right it has not been upgraded you have 1.6 on board and you have baseband 00 which should get the 2.2 update first no need to roll back as you have the lowest on board now

Cant say I have seen this build of 1.6 before.. there is probably a very small difference between this ROM and the normal Dell release..

i just got myself a xperia x8 and for some reason i cant update the phone to 2.1 its keeps saying my phone is already up to date my firmware is 1.6 and my baseband is unknown can anyone help please!

Maybe the update hasn't arrived yet in your country. There are many others who are still running 1.6 in their X8s.
Or...
You can root and install latest stock firmware which you can download from the X8 android development section, but why stay in 2.1 when can go to 2.2 or 2.3 ?
I just purchased a atrix and attempted to do the gingerbread update. The phone is on wi-fi and it just says downloading and hasn't moved. Any help would be nice. Not sure if i'm gonna keep the phone at this rate but thanks for any help.
Could you please tell us what carrier your phone is from? And what version of Android is currently on the phone? You can find this in Settings > About Phone under Android version. Also, your System version may help too.

i was wondering if any one can help in getting the original t-mobile 2.3 update for my phone, the phone was rooted but it kept turning itself off so i flashed it with a 2.2.1 android t-mobile version i found on here, all i would like to do is try and get a 2.3 version on the phone...any help be great....thanks
