Looking for a new phone for my daughter. Which is better the GTS540 or the HTC wildfire ?
Thanks
I've had both, prefer the LG

Cheers
Now my son wants a new phone.. so 2 new phones. Wildfire vs 540
Any other comments ?
I know they will be comparing it to my HTC Desire... which is a bit unfair !!
Thanks
My sister has the htc And I got the lg. The lg has a higher resolution screen but the htc's screen is sensibler. The htc has stock 2.1 And there are already good working froyo roms for it.
I would chose the htc.

get the wildfire
The LG will get a 2.2 Rom someday in the not too distant future, i just feel it! the LG screen res is better. Plus its a snappy little phone, as long as you know what to do with it and don't clutter it with useless apps. I would go for the LG every time!

Looks like a pretty even split for both phones.
Think I'll take the kids to the local Carphone warehouse and see which they prefer !!
Thanks

DON'T GO TO CARPHONE WAREHOUSE!!!
Ive had a bad experience.
I have GT540, but take Wildfire it has Eclair as default OS, 5 mpx camera, multitouch, capacitive screen, more RAM and great Luncher style

Whatever you do DON'T GO TO CARPHONE WAREHOUSE! I to have had a bad experience there.
Hmm..
I've bought from CarPhone Warehouse in the past and never had any problems..
Also there phones are normally unlocked..
IF I do buy from them, can the GT540 be updated to 2.1 ?
I like the Wildfire, but low res and no GPU means no angry birds for the kids !!

Yeah it can.
Wildfire doesnt have graphical accelerator but lg does . Lg ' proccesor is more powerful . Becouse of the lg's resolution optimus can run much more apps and games . And you'l get the phone for your daugher so i guess that more apps and games can be useeful .
Regards !
Thanks for the repies.
Son & daughter want new phones !
I'll take them in town in the morning and see what they like.
On paper the LG GT540 should be better... But the kids will have to see what they feel and work like first.
Thanks
I have had both. The LG first and then the HTC. I came back to the LG because the HTC graphics are just no where dear as good.
The HTC does have more memory and so works faster but for an all round decent phone the LG wins hands down.
For me anyway.

One big downside of the LG phone is the resistive touchscreen. Wildfire has capacitive touchscreen and multitouch (it's very useful).

Bye guys.
I came to android world by having a tytn 2 which I enjoyed alot, haret-ed my ass oof, tried alot of roms back then.
I became so obsessed with android, I received a wildfire for my birthday. At first it seemed an upgrade, but then I've seen what means to have a cpu without a gpu struggling even to animate simple 2d stuff.
So, here we are, three months later and I cooked this idea I want a new phone with android. So I've gone with HD2 to be able to switch back to wm if I ever needed it at any time.
So here's my advice:
If it's your kids/girlfriends phone, leave it as is. If it's your phone and you are sick of it and it doesn't meet your expectations, sell it while it's sparkling new, to be able to get as much money off it, add some quids and get a real phone.
I will be less active on this wildfire subform, so I wish you happy buzzing days to come.

sorry to hear that. However, although HD2 is not the latest phone, I would love having an HD2 because you can have dual boot with Windows Phone 7 and Android, as well as WM.
Enjoy. At least you stay on android!

You could always stay on wildfire and hd2 like i do withthe tab and wildfire (from a dev prospective the wildfire is better - no kies or odin or rfs nonsense)

OMG the wildfire is a fake phone!!!
If it's not a real phone then what it's it? It's still a smartphone, just not a media oriented smartphone.please don't diss a phone just because it doesn't meet your expectations.
Yeah, there are better smartphones out there, with more bang for your buck and, hell, I'd love one, but I don't really need them.

I can still return my Atrix but what about Optimus 3D or Thrill4G? Should I return Atrix and get LG instead? How's the CPU compare of LG optimus 3D vs Atrix?

If it's the same 3d screen like a nintendo 3ds I would pass. I played with a 3ds at best buy and it gave me a headach and I felt sick after 5 minutes.

the LG isn't even out yet, and won't be on AT&T until the 2nd quarter of this year. so none of us will be able to answer your question.
On the same boat....
haha, was thinking about that as well... I got 8/days left to turn it in.. the only thing I see, is the 480x800, had that on my DX, I liked it, but then started to like the Atrix qHD..
Been some time since I had an LG phone or read up on them, wonder if the bootloader is locked like the Atrix.. not sure I can live without my Android OS for long though.. , as 2nd Q is coming up in a week or so..
The 3D can be switched off per reviews/specs.. so no worried on getting sick all the time..
not sure if I can post links yet..

If the bootloader is locked/unlocked doesnt matter. It is just, how moto acts, moto is a company with no style, good products but no feelings, no vision, just a carrier zombie ... this will answer your question:

Yea you can turn it off, but then the problem is your not using one of the devices greatest innovations then you might as well not get it in the first place and get an Atrix now ;-)
atrix gang or die!
Its LG they we're never a specialized cell phone manufacturer, moto is. That's my problem with samsung, lg and such.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
You mean like the HSUPA on the Atrix.. that is not 'working' and was a feature of the 4G technology they were bragging about.. at least you can turn on/off the 3D feature when 'you' want.. unlike Atrix , waiting on moto/att... ya know...
Either way, both phones are great... just depends on what you want out of your phone... don't get me wrong, enjoying my Atrix... just having the option for another phone is good to have..
lol @ the Atrix gang or die comment..
Hello XDA !
Today I have a choice, I can have a HTC HD2 for 115€ and I don't know if it's a good deal because HD2 is pretty old.

A friend of mine got one, it had Android pre-installed on it (second hand) and the hardware specs are pretty good, but I found the phone not that responsive considering the specs. Thats probably because it doesn't run Android natively I think, but it might just be just this situation.
Since its so cheap, I would really consider it
Okay thanks

The phone has a lot of development but I felt it is quite laggy....
I used it with Windows phone and it seemed to have bugged out something and was terribly laggy.....
When I used it with Android, it was a little bit better, but still laggy....
According to me, don't but it.
It's bad because I really like to have the possibility to switch beetween OS, but if it's laggy...no point to buy it

Yes it is but is it really a worthwhile upgrade? I think he should go for a better phone if he actually wants to upgrade or stick with the galaxy 3 as our devs have recently started working 10 times as hard to bring us awesome development such as MIUI, AOKP, G3MOD 3.1, the new Kyorakernel test version, CM7 the list goes on.
in fact the guy with the HD2 didn't contact me yet so i stay with my g3...
Hi everyone, im cory and i just order the htc desire z. i wanted this phone every since it came out. my previous phone in the world of android was the xv6900, it was a windows mobile phone that was able to run the android os, next was my droid incredible (that i am now selling tomorrow :crying. so i hope i really enjoy this phone and yall as company.....btw im interested in timescape on it as well

Why would you even question a G2 over the Gnex?
The Gnex obliterates the G2 with everything, it's got a amazing screen, good camera and it has Jelly Bean!
No keyboard, sdcard, camera button, trackpad..
Seriously though, the keyboard and sdcard alone are dealbreakers for me
I also think it's slightly too big. I would prefer 4.3 but beggars can't be choosers.

I agree a physical keyboard is nice, also being able to expand the memory - but the camera button and trackpad are pretty useless features when using a ICS device like the Gnex as you don't neccesarily need them, I find the Desire Z camera to be pretty poor.
It is a pretty big phone but personally I find the Desire Z too small now
If the Gnex had a physical keyboard I'd be buying one, but with little phones being released with a physical keyboard it seems I may have to get one without..
Love your Mimicry ICS rom btw

Yup- everyone pretty much summed it up. No trackpad, no keyboard, and no SD support..
That being said the gnex is pretty sparkling cool. Although I am leaning towards the G2 for now and waiting for the my dream phone ("G3" ... )
Hello all,
I'm planning to get a new device.
Is nexus 4 good on hardware given that it's made by lg?
Should I buy htc one x+ or galaxy s3 instead?
What are your recommendations?
I can afford upto 30k or 550_600$.
HTC One costs around 43k,if you can afford that much then I would really recommend it.Nexus 4 would be a good choice too.
Oops I meant to say htc one x+

I had the same thing in mind.
But it has a better interface, processor and beats audio.
I don't care for most if these but has lg made a good hardware for the nexus 4???
Btw nexus 4 arriving here in a week
Agreed, sense will always have a better ui than anything in the world
Don't care about the beats audio, have seen ppl using other mods despite having beats audio.
Lg is a good company,we don't see it as a cell phone manufacturer,do we?
And you mean,you've ordered n4?

What you mean by hardware?
Build quality?
Yes
Then Slymobi must have something to say about it.Nexus 4 to me looks good, has a much better build quality than any of the Samsung devices.
I'd go for the N4. Purely because your getting a pure google handset, with new updates guaranteed (unlike HTC. Who sometimes cancel or don't even bother to update devices), you'll also get something that's easy to BL unlock, root and experiment with. And being a nexus device, I'm sure there would be a lot try out!

The build quality is just great! Just the speakers and the camera are not as good as the HTC one's. I had both phones One and Nexus and this glass look looks just so much better than the "plastic" from the HTC One X. And it's also easier to root than the HTC phone. It was a pain in the ass to root the One X and to flash ROMs on it. The Nexus is definitly the better choice also in relation to the money,
I'd get the nexus 4. I already have a nexus 4 and it is brilliant. It feels more premium than the galaxy s3 and the htc one x+. Plus it is easier to root and will have excellent developer support. You also get the newest updates from Google themselves.
I have the one x, great device, doesnt feel "cheap" at all, n4, while having more "premium" feeling also can break more easy so keep that in mind.
Also, hox is easy to root, dont know why is everyone saying its hard lol.

Ive seen it. Frankly Id prefer android!
The hardware of the N4 is amazing for the price. Fastest phone I've ever used for sure. For value/speed, nothing comes close.
The glass back is fragile so just make sure you purchase the right protection.
Jellybean 4.2 is so good you could use it without the need for rooting

Never happened to me...strange. I think the 4.2.2 update solved this issiue for the most people. I think that happens to maybe 1 of 1000 N4 devices. And if yours is affected you can send it back and order a new N4.
You can still choose the HOX its also a nice device and it has almost no bugs but its got that crappy Tegra processor which seems to be not very familiar with the android system itself and some Gameloft games.
