Pissed off because i thought titanium backup, backup'ed all my contacts and messages when it obviously friggin doesn't. Thank god i have them on HTC sense online. I have turned off HTC hub sync of fear that my blank contact on my phone will overwrite the ones online. All i want is my contacts from my HTC sense back on my phone, how do i do this?
Thanks
Point 1. Why on earth would you think Titanium Backup backs up contacts and messages?
Anyway, that's irrelevant. How about your Gmail account? Did you not have them sync'd there? Just tick sync again and they'll come back (contacts at least)
I don't use HTCSense.com, but I would have thought HTC Hub is what you use to sync everything back? I guess best to wait and see if someone in the know can help with that.
An answer to Point 1. Probably because Titanium Backup says it does.

Mine doesn't say that?

For whatever reason I can't upload a JPEG screenshot so I'll copy/paste from the website.
6.3. Restoring your messages
To restore your SMS/MMS, call logs, phone book, and the like: Tap the “Backup/Restore” button, and scroll the list for those data. They usually appear in green letters with square brackets around. Then deal with them as you would do with “single applications”.
If they don't show up in the list, make sure you didn't filter them out: tap your phones menu button, select “Filter”, and set the filters appropriately.

Fair enough. I've never seen that before, and scrolling through my list, there's nothing I would trust to be the actual messages, to me it looks mainly to be settings.
Do we know that the OP specifically went in and pressed on one of these and selected backup?

Just wondering what exactly the T-mobile account sync is for?
I know it is definitely for contacts but what else?
It added a lot of crap to my phone and i want to remove it but unfortunately i have to do a factory reset and im not interested in doing that right now.
I swear i love this phone, but i don't understand why they included all this crap with the phone.
I get that it is a customized version of Espresso but omg is some of this crap useless.
answer: mostly contacts, partially for the other bloatware crap they got in our phones
I find it so ridiculous that their is 3 different contact storage places tmobile, google(standard for android and shoulda been left this way) and the sim. What in the world is tmobile or htc thinking?? what is the point of this??
I agree man, i drove me crazy having the T-Mobile sync account! What it is for is your Mobile Backup (auto built into this phone unlike the last one). I have all my contacts on Google and link them to the people's Facebook, and that's what I like!
However, I noticed how obnoxious it was to have duplicate numbers for people who have a Google contact & a mobile backup contact. Also if you use the "Faves" function, it will auto create a t-mobile-based contact to sync with the website. So when you log in, you will click on "Faves" and see all of them there, in addition to Mobile backup.
I got pissed off, deleted everyone off mobile backup period, and backwards synced to my phone so there are NO mobile backup contacts. I said screw the "Faves" feature too because of how annoying it was. I really don't feel like I'm missing out seeing as Faves is just an upgrade to the myFaves UI for Android phones
It was a nice feature on BlackBerry as a backup of your contacts. It looks like it only syncs "faves" contacts now.
Well I added my Exchange account and Faceook so I have 5 kinds of contacts. If you press the button next to the Home when in contacts you can select "view" and tell the phone which contacts you want to have show up when veing contact by placing a check next to them. I have T-Mobile, Google, Sym Card, Exchange Active Sync, and Facebook options.
I linked my facebook up on my phone and even after DELETING the program it still links all my contacts.
So now, I have 500 people when i go to select a contact to text and when I type in a friends name 3 entries pop up.
Ive tried looking up stuff on google and even tried everything to unsync it and its completely unsinked and it still wont help.
HOW DO I GET RID OF THREE OF THE SAME CONTACT POPPING UP ON MY TEXTS?
Please help its making my phone unuseable i really loved this phone until this issue
Best to start fresh. Deselect the contact sources you don't want to sync. Go to settings/applications/manage applications. Hit the running tab. Scroll to find "contacts storage" app. Select it. Select delete data. This will erase all your contact data. You can then resync the contacts you want.
Swyped on my rooted MyTouch4G
ended up using a friends recommendation of contact remover/removal from the market nice free program
Here the fix it happen to me to:
Go to-Contacts-Views and choose only with phone number. I disable the facebook for my touch under options. You can disable the other choices you have there too. Hope this work for you!
Hi All,
This is easily the most frustrating issue I'm having with my phone. How the f*** do I make all my contacts just save to gmail, I don't want ANY saved on the phone, my phone died recently, when I got it back I was expecting HTC sense & google to have my contacts stored in their clouds, HTC sense wouldn't log back in (piece of crap) and apparently all my contacts were just saved to my phone...
I've been digging around and can't find anyway to move everything to gmail, the only way I know is to manually change the 'contact type' if it gets manually created.
Any help much appreciated!
Cheers,
G.
This may not be the answer you want but you will most like have to do it manually. The good news is you only have to do it once then it'll be on gmail automatically synced.
Go to contacts/menu/display options. Select to only view phone contact and then on your pc go to contacts in gmail and compare it with your phone.
You may be able to extract the contacts and import them to google but its been a while since I did this.
Does this make sense?

I think this is what you'll probably have to do. AFAIK theres no "move all to google contacts" button or setting.
You're kinda gonna be stuck moving them manually. After that you're good to go.
Contacts - menu - import/export .... this option is in contacts on cyanogenmod
I'm having trouble using the go sms backup feature. I'm getting ready to switch phones, and there are any few sms messages I would like to save. When I click and hold the message thread that I want to save, I choose the option for "backup". It takes me to the backup and restore page. When I click backup, it just says "login successful" and nothing happens. I'm not sure how it logs in when I haven't set up a name or password.
I know there are other free apps that will backup and restore messages. But if possible, I would rather use go sms since I already have it and will be downloading it on my new phone anyway.

Moved here for better assistance, Thank You.
I don't use Go SMS for backup. I use "Backup to Gmail" app to backup my SMS. It backs up the SMS to my gmail. And I can use it to restore SMS on the same device or onto another device. It actually backs up SMS, MMS and Call logs into its own folders within gmail. There I can explore and read them within my gmail. I used this to backup and restore my SMS, MMS and call logs from my Droid X to my Galaxy Note 2.
Sorry the app is not free ($1.99 one time cost to purchase app), but well worth it. Google is where you sync Gmail email, Contacts, Calendar and photos. It makes logical sense to sync your SMS, MMS and call log with Google too.
Why not ask this question in the device, that you getting, forum about this.
But "Backup to Gmail" app is one seamless way of doing what you want to do. Just saying.
[SMS Backup +] (SMS Backup Plus) is the apparent predecessor to "Backup to Gmail" -- and it's free.

Hi,
I'm about to get my new S8 and would like to copy all of my stuff from my old iphone.
I was thinking of using the SmartSwitch app that everybody seem to recommend, but all of my contacts are also backed up
by google, so I'm afraid that once I enter my google account details (during the phone initial setup or later) I'll get all of my contacts from the Iphone, and then when I run
Smart Switch for photos and all of the reset, I'll see each contact twice.
How can I solve it? I would like SmartSwtich to import my old data, but once my phone is set up, also would like
google to continue backing it up.
Hope that my question is clear enough and you are able to understand what is bothering me
It isn't a problem. My contacts are backed up using my Google account and when you will use SmartSwitch app, it will let you pick what you would like to back up, so no issues there. Another interesting thing to consider is that S8 has Samsung Cloud which also offers back up and this one does back up more than Google backup. It can backup your homescreen icon position, wallpaper, messages, call log, settings, Samsung Keyboard settings and other stuff including docs, music and so on. You can enable both, the Google Back up and Samsung Cloud.

So basically if my contacts are backed by google I shouldn't transfer them using SmartSwitch? (unchecked the contacts when I transfer data)

Right, don't check items that you don't want SmartSwitch to transfer.
