I have used several iterations of PocketCM, 0.23 being the last one before going to 0.24. I uninstalled 0.23 properly and put 0.24 on. For some reason it's really flaky when it comes to showing the message threads. It will display correctly that there are text messages for a certain person, but when I click on that person, it will either say "No Messages", or it will only show some of the messages, usually just the most recent one. If I go back and forth enough times, it will show all the messages, then if I go back and forth again, only part of the messages (usually the most recent ones) will be there. Same goes for messages that I sent, they show up right after they have been sent, but when I come back right after looking at the contacts, the messages that I have written will have disappeared, just to come back again along with all the others at some time later.
PocketCM is installed in device memory.
I have cleared out all my messages just to make sure nothing was corrupt there, so I am working with all new messages.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled it.
I have used different themes.
I leave it running in the background at all times so that the longish initial load time won't slow my phone down.
Am I the only one with that problem, or has anyone else encountered this.
I have a Sprint Touch with the original 6.0 ROM.
Thanks for any help!
i have seen this too....only on one contact...the one person i have a picture set for that i also sms with....why don't you post this in the pocketcm thread???
Which one? There's quite a few....questions like these usually get lost in big threads like that
Did you have the same problem with an earlier version of PocketCM? All my previous versions worked fine as far as that was concerned.
I get the same thing too. its intermittent. im sure it's a little bug they'll fix soon..
Ok cool....thanks... thought my phone was going crazy or something!
mine as well. i've opened a thread in tene's forum: http://pocketcm.com/phorum/read.php?15,10912. Please post a comment there so he know that it's a common problem.

I deleted the contact picts and i have not had a problem since.
But...but....I want my contact pictures in there, that's part of what makes this app so cool...especially with the mirror effect! I hope Tene can fix this when he has some time!
Is anyone else experiencing this when attempting to reply to a sms message.
The message 'Tap to compose your text' appears but it wont let me 'tap'. I have to wait for about 10 seconds before tapping the screen actually allows me to compose a reply.
Yes, I have delays in the text messaging app. It is very laggy. I can be typing and press a key 3 or 4 times before it registers.
Cheers, I've just figured it out, the issue only happens when I have lots of messages to load in a conversation. It doesn't occur when its a short conversation with one or two messages in.
i think its a known bug keep your conversation list down by backing up on myphone is a suggestion i read somewhere, then you can delete on your phone without losing them completely
hope thats helpful
yes its all do do with the amount of messages in the "thread" but even if i've got say 100 messages in a convo ....whys it lag so much ??? its only loading kilobytes of info... and for the spec of the phone i find this poor coding very annoying !!!!!!!!!!!!
if you look bottom right of the screen (just right of the paper clip) you'll see a thin grey line decreasing . When that's finished you can tap and type. And yes the more sms you have the more the delay.
I have the sams problem. I have over 500 texts under some contacts. and It's a big waiting game to answer a text.
I dont understand why HTC have choosen to load ALL texts. the last 20 would have been enough.
In the new ROM 1.48 the problem is the same.

Oh man, that sucks was hoping it would be fixed there
I'm actually beginning to get a little dissapointed by the official rom
I love tweaking stuff etc... but having problems with something every other phone handles perfectly like SMS is ridiculous.

Has anyone actually fed this into HTC to make them aware of the issue so they know it is everyone who is complaining and not just a select few?

Well, I've actually reported this today, as I am sick of it
I wonder if HTC uses their own phones they make...
I think they made it for people like me who delete every sms at the end of the day. Don't get mad, just a joke but that's really what I do unless I need to keep it for reference in which case I copy it to an alarmed note.
It's a rather strange issue. I have several lengthy conversations (not 500 messages long, of course, but with dozens of them), and all but one load instantly and the keyboard pops up also instantly. One of them is incredibly laggy, although it's like 10 messages long. The only difference I see is that the other person has a contact picture attached and she is my wife.
Perhaps is there a way (cab, setting, ...) to makes auto-delete messages after a certain limit (for example, delete messages when there's more than 50...) ? Already looked in settings, but didn't found that..
Here are work-arounds for the SMS lag problem...
Option 1:
when the SMS conversation is building (the gray bar is shrinking), just click the SEND button. It will prompt "This message is blank...", then click No, and it will go back to the SMS conversation -- but this time, there is no lag and you can start typing after pressing the "Tap here to compose text"
Option 2:
if there is one or two persons that you exchange lots of SMS with, put them as a Quick Link (to SMS) on the front page. That way, when you press the Quick Link, it starts a direct SMS composition without dialogue, and thus no lag.
Can't wait till HTC properly fix this!
Enjoy!

I can't believe that even on my beautiful sleek Nexus One, I can't view embedded email pictures. Does anyone know why this is? And if not maybe some one knows how to fix it? This is actually ridiculous if you ask me, its the Gmail app that has been made by Google for a Google operating system on a Google phone but it can't display embedded email pictures? Whats going on here?
It works fine for me... Did you push the "Show Pictures" button near the top of the email?
Sometimes they show up for me. Usually they don't though and I always press 'show pictures'. I love the phone bit its the least of my issues: I can't send mms to any phone bit android, I get 'uportal error' on a common site that the iPhone 3g and 3gs access no problem, and I often get a quarter of an inch of orange load bar when clicking a link in the browser which sometimes is only remedied by a phone reset. I have loved all 3 of my android phones though and Its google we're talking about. They are all about te internet and I trust they are diligently working to improve te average, albeit fast browser experience.
I just read my post and good God this keyboards tough to type on.

I have pressed show picture, all i get is a question mark in a little blue box and i can see the frame of the picture that is spoused to be there. I know im not the only person people. Don't make me feel like im the only one here..
Currently, the gmail app does not support embedded pictures in emails. When you see pictures it's because the person attached the picture to the email. The only way to see embedded pictures in an e-mail on your phone is to log into gmail through the browser. This has been like this since 1.5 and has been submitted to google numerous of times. Hopefully they will fix this problem.

/agree with mgorman.....
Embedded pictures is working just fine in the Gmail app, had some ad-spam from Direct2Drive, Apple, Impulse etc in my inbox just now and they all had embedded pictures. Clicked show pictures and it worked like a charm, this was also over 3g network.
As far as I know I can't take screenshots with an un-rooted phone, so I've attached a picture.

You can use the Android sdk to take pictures of the phone:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Make sure USB debugging is on, plug in phone to PC
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools -> ddms.bat
Not sure what you guys are talking about. Embedded pictures work absolutely flawlessly on my phone
Ah of course via the SDK. Been developing for Android for some time, but I've only been using the emulator since I've been too lazy to actually hook up my phone

mentioned couldnt find it in the video ... but forgot to say it here.
Good video. Any comment on any noticeable lag throughout the phone, whether it be opening/closing application, scrolling through menu?
And any comments on GPS use? People have been complaining it doesn't pickup signal very well, and the cursor hops.
Cheers

ill make a video with those questions, but i can tell you now. the samsung widgets like the feeds one which has twitter facebook myspace causes lag. the friends one causes lag, the rest is ok.
I disabled those that caused the lag and everything was fine.
The GPS i have had no problems as of yet.
Thank you!
I have never used an android phone, so I just had a few more questions.
Is there a way to sync 3 email accounts (hotmail, gmail, outlook) into the one inbox? So from the home screen I can click on my mail account and it will display one inbox for all my emails, or do I have to click on each inbox seperately? Also, is there a widget, or a way to preview email from the home screen?
Im not liking samsungs overlay and im concerned by the lag its causing.

The gmail how i have it setup is with the gmail client stock to android.
But if you use the other email client for exchange, hotmail, yahoo etc. All those could be in one inbox. Meaning you click the email app and you see all the emails from all three account there. You would be able to distinguish them if u look on the left u see colors showing blue for hotmail, green for yahoo etc.
And yes there are widgets to show a preview of an email on desktop.

the nexus one lock screen, that i am not sure of.
Please look at end 8:28. The guy pressed Homescreen button and it took 6 seconds till homescreen appeared ??!!!
What ist that? Desire and Nexus need not more than 1 second for that from video player.

How do you disable them?
is there any way of getting the SMS/Phone notification in lock screen to tell you who has called without opening the phone to see? ie my Iphone will tell me i have a new SMS but also that it was from "chris" or whoever...
im also concerned about 8.28 and the 6 second delay to return back to home screen, the whole phone seemed a little laggy which im hoping is due to just launching the LauncherPro app and the phone readjusting ?
i have asked this in another thread but if anyone could test the game emulators and see if they actually work that would be awesome....

basically, remove them from the home screen. and to make sure use a task manager like advanced task manager and check to see if its not there. if it is there have it set to autokill
I have heard already of this android bug from the Google nexus one forum but now it happened to me too. I had maybe 6 sms threads in the stock android sms application. I sent a question via sms to one person and it appears in the right thread. I get an sms back from another person answering the question. The second person who answered is one of the 6 threads actually in my sms application. This is really a serious problem....
Google has a serious problem to fix. I can't imagine if I sent a text to the wrong person. This is why I won't touch the stock messaging app. Handcent all the way.

Don't feel so safe in the google forum thread people with chompSMS and Handcent could reproduce the same problem. So it's much deeper in the android system.
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=39b5123a94a7a99a&hl=en
strange, this happened to me once and i text a lot (at least 3k a month). does anyone know if this is unique to the n1 or happens on all androids?
I ran into this too. It even appeared like i sent it to the proper recipient. I got a lot of wtf?'s later in the night. Did a power cycle to fix it and everything has been cool since I've updated.
My G1 used to do this also, I was starting to think I was alone on this one.
Im not saying the problem doesnt exist, or putting you guys down at all etc, but in my 3k texts a month ive never seen this yet. I guess the closest ive come is trying to quick press a thread added with rotating the screen at the same time = possibly click on wrong thread, and if in landscape you dont see the previous text.
I don't text too much, but I have noticed sometimes the conversation drops off after I send something, or at least I thought I was sending something.
i've never experienced this issue yet either, and i've used handcent since day one just because of this. but i cant imagine the trouble i would have if some of my texts went to the wrong person. seriously.
its possible i'll never know if someone got the wrong text and just never told me...

I never rotate my phone to landscape while texting, so I can exclude this theory. I also realized if you want to copy paste something into a sms it always jumped back to the wrong thread....not satisfied....I text my coworkers and friends and absolutely don't want a mix up of recipients.
This happened to me friend's nexus one today. He was running CM RC1
this also happened to a friend of mine with galaxy s.

It is. I think a lot of people are not aware of this problem. I you only text things like "how are you" you would probably not even realize that you get the answer from the wrong person. If it is delicate some wrong recipient would probably ignore the message instead of complaining. So you never know if it by accident went to the wrong person...
Note to self: be careful what you text until this gets fixed.
people with the original droid also had this problem occur on their phones. its gotta be something with android OS...but what could it be that google hasnt found at this point.
I find that if I text something, then go back to the main message list and try to open another conversation before it has finished "refreshing" it will open a random thread instead of the one I intended to. As far as I know I have not sent a text to a wrong contact. To give you an idea of my usage I have used 2841 messages and I have 10 days left in my billing cycle.
I don't text enough to notice a problem like this, but I'm guessing Google Voice is immune?
Thankfully this bug hasn't happened to me yet (that I know of). Someone hand me the biggest piece of wood you can find (keep your wood jokes to yourself ) so I can knock on it.
