Could use Mobile Phone Backup (or no doubt countless other programs) to backup to your SD Card and then restore to new phone?

Have you tried the transfer data app from the DHD? I heard it could do that.

I tried that but it doesn't not work 100% right.
It can backup and restore all your SMSs, but at least 50% or more of them don't get linked right with the contact that sent the SMS.

Do you know if it wipes all your SMSs that you may already have on the DHD?!?
I was going trying to backup and restore again with this new app but I'm afraid to loose the SMSs that I already have on the DHD...
It will insert the migrated data over your existing data. So you'd have to back that up first and restore that after the migration.

Hi,
Is there a place I can download any of the Desire HD apps like the Reader, car Panel, HTC Like, etc.. that have been stripped from the HD ROM ?
I've tried the HD ROM itself, but the camera app doesn't work for the standard Desire, so I would prefer to wait until everything is fixed until I use that ROM. Until that happens.
Thanks
I don't get it, so why do you need the apps from Desire HD?...
Anyways, you can download a Desire HD ROM and open it with WinRAR and export the apk files from there.
You cant install them onto non HD roms so dont waste tour time if you plan to.

HTC Likes and the EReader are some nice apps. But the Desire HD Rom doesnt runs perfect.
So why dont build a normal Desire ROM with some Desire HD Apps.

Thanks. That's what I read somewhere. I thought maybe someone has managed to port the apps to the regular HD and uploaded them somewhere.

hi there, how can i upgrade from MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.4 to MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 v. 2.5 without erasing my apps and contract list?
back it up. =.=
Your contact list is usually backed up automatically with your google account. In other words, when you enter back your google account for whatever rom, your old contact list reappears.
I use Titanium Backup to backup apps and contacts between ROMs. The paid version is definitely worth it, the added convenience of not having to individually install all the apps is really nice.
yeah, share all your contacts with google. good idea unbelievable..

when you back up your stuff, do you just create a file under sd card and put it there?

Hi.
Is there a chance to take over data from my x10 to the arc, which is not on sd? AngryBirds level settings for example?

per you signature, I am assuming that you have an ARC? What if you try it and let us know. It should be possible. I have back of my Launcher Pro which would like to use when I get my arc.
Some apps make it possible to make backups but not all of them. For angry bird i send a mail to rovio, didn't get a reply.
For contacts theysynced with google
SMS backup & restore you can use SMSBackupRestore
Because there isn't still root you can't use titanum backup.

Download SMS backup & restore from the market...
Question answered...I agree with suggestion
Cheers,

SMS backup + from market saves to Google account and does it @ intervals, Google should also store your contacts anyway.

Hi guys,
apologies if this was covered somewhere but I have tried and tried the search function but couldnt get a relevant answer...
I was a Galaxy Tab user and just bought a Motorola Xoom tab this morning, I have realised there is no phone or SMS function in this (MZ601) version unlike the Galaxy Tab...
is there anyway I can achieve this?
please advise..
thanks

I have a Google Voice # and GrooveIP app (one time cost) and can make voice calls also have a way to send/receive texts.
I know there are apps out there but, was wondering if the function could be used from the simcard I already have...

Been reading through and came across an article about android 4.0 icecream cake which would allow dialling but not sure if its deliberate to keep this function disabled on tablets..
Any thoughts?

Desktop SMS (found on XDA) allows for SMS texts. Its dependent however on a working phone and dropbox. I use it on my wireless (non-3G) xoom. Skype works for calls in between skype clients. Thats my 2 cents.

Well, you can both dial and send/receive SMS messages, BUT:
0) you need to modify framework-res.apk
1) the phone app is not usable - you can dial and connect, but you can't hear the other party, as well as the other party can't hear you (tried both BT headset and no-headset)
2) enabling the GSM dialer breaks the Contacts functionality - it gets repalced by broken in-dialer contact management
3) the stock SMS app is missing; you can use either third-party SMS apps (HandcentSMS, GO SMS, etc., but ripped off another device) or modified emulator SMS apk (that is broken anyway; the texts are white [managed to fix that] and contact picking button calls an unsupported anywhere intent); you have to remove the default SMS receiver (yes, XOOM can receive SMS messages in default configuration) to prevent duplicate notifications.
GrooveIP requires a Google Voice number, but other than that you can use the Xoom to dial through GVoice on 3G/LTE or Wifi. I purchased it and have used it but the thing is, if i'm not video calling (Skype / Google Talk) why not just use my phone as it does it better?
For texting what I do use all the time is SyncSMS which was worked on here at XDA and is in the Market now from dolphinking. You have to have a dropbox account configured, but just set it up on your phone and tab and it's seamless texting. I love it.
