What is that?

No problems here. Just a temp root, so if you restart, gps back to normal.
What type of problems are you having?

oh okay temp root. I run it, and after that there is this lag about the phone. Well i just want it to remove some of the apps that came preloaded. To remove these apps, do you think i would be able to do it through root explorer? i.e. asphalt, amazon mp3 etc..? thanks

its an application that roots your phone. I think the full name is Z4 root. i need to check but if you look it up it will come up.

If you're just temporarily rooting your phone, why wouldn't you use Visionary which has been tested/used by hundreds of people already?

Just got my G2 whowhoo!! What should i do?

what are apps i need and what does rooting do i was just reading that one click temp root
any advice thanks alot i am also new to rooting
Let me first say, CONGRATULATIONS!
At the beginning, forget rooting.
Here is what I did:
1. Mess with all Android settings.
2. Put tons of music, videos, photos, roms, etc, onto memory card.
3. Set ringtone, wallpaper, organize homescreen, and do "basic" customization.
4. Set up Google Voice(most people don't have this as a main step, but I do since I love this app )
5. Download must-have apps(for me gameboid is one), install, and set them up.
6. Sync all accounts, get contacts on the phone.
7. Disable things you will not use, such as the photobucket app.
8. Whatever you want, now you can root
While doing this, I would recommend running the battery from 100% to 0% and using a battery measuring app such as battery left inorder to "calibrate" your battery. Whether this is a myth or fact on whether it improves your battery life, since I see people arguing on this a lot, it can't hurt to do it.
He pretty much covered it.
Just enjoy the phone and have fun with it bro.

you might also want to get an invisible shield or a case of some sort to protect the phone as well
If you don't like bloatware, take a look at this thread.
Honestly, doing temp root on the G2 is absurdly easy with the VISIONary app (mentioned in that thread).
so what exactly is the point of a ROOT what will i be able to do other than overclock?

Have you clicked on the "problems" key in the homepage of Titanium? It's prompt you to download the latest version on busybox, press yes. Also is superuser giving it permission.
I saw that it had busybox, but you are correct, that fixed it... Thanks...
As for waiting for another phone, i cant seem to keep a phone for more then 5 months anyway, i am always changing...

Hey everyone, I have the phone rooted but can't seem to find a wifi tethering app which works good on G2. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Major lag after root...

I used the root method found in This Thread and now I'm getting serious lag. It is like the phone is trying to run something huge in the background and it is fairly difficult to move from one screen to the next. Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it? It was working fine before the root, and now it is really slow...

Try a stock rom with root.

[Q] What are you rooting for?

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering, for the people whom had rooted their 10.1 tabs what they were taking advantage of when rooting? I have my HTC Incredible rooted for a few different purposes and roms but can't think of any that I would take advantage of on a tablet that it can't already do.
So basically, what are you guys doing with root so far?
For the most part, peace of mind. I cannot live with a device that is not rooted. It just doesn't sit well with me.
Anyway, the only thing I've really used it for so far is installed in honeycomb books app. It wouldn't install for me so I had to push it to /system/app/ which requires root. I'm also thinking of getting rid of the camera app and replacing it with the stock one. Our browser doesn't seem to have to Labs options, so I might replace that as well.
I was using setCPU for a bit too but I decided to uninstall it.

Ah okay, thanks. Yeah the only thing I could think of is removing applications that are unwanted but I was like well, the applications that are already on here are actually useful and there aren't many that are a nuisance. SetCPU was out for me since the battery lasts like 10+ hours (Went on like 13+ for me yesterday) and no need to overclock or anything.
Con of rooting though, when the 3.1 update comes out you will have to wait for a rooted update to be released online or else you will lose root on upgrading, correct?
Don't have one yet... but I like to root so I can use Titanium Backup Pro.
Yeah, I'll probably lose root when the 3.1 update comes out. That's not really an issue though. My options are
1. have root, lose root, get root again
2. don't have root, wait, get root
it doesn't really matter either way
I will for wifi tether with barnacle app, also to back up and adfree are my main reasons.
Did the tabs that were given away at the conference have TouchWiz or just stock Honeycomb?

to better answer your question we need to know the exact model of the Xperia you have?
Mine is the verizon model and it is R800x
there are also R800a, R800i, R800at, and a few others I think, so if you could please provide us with some more information we would be happy to try and help you.

I think that version is Rooted, though I am not 100% cause all I ever look for are things for the R800x. Anyway Rooting the phone ends up giving you complete Super User access to the phone. The biggest advantages that you can get from rooting you phone is the ability to WiFi Tether from the phone without the Wireless Network knowing about it, the ability to delete bloatware off the phone and move apps to the SD card that were once not able to be transferred, as well as the ability to over clock your phones processor to make it faster. Also gain some other small abilities like the ability to Print Screen the phone.

Rooting gives you admins rights the same as you would get on a pc. Some apps need to have root access to work e.g. Titanium Backup, Ad free etc.

Well as JasonKnight has said you can remove unwanted system apps. Making the phone boot up faster and generally run smoother. You can also backup your apps and data with titanium backup. Install custom themes e.t.c.
The list goes on but the main reason people root is to uninstall/freeze crap that comes on the phone that you normally cannot remove without root access. Which then gains you more ram and internal memory .
See here for a guide on rooting your phone. If you plan on rooting at any point do it now, since it will wipe your phone clean.
See here for apps that are safe to remove after rooting.

Lol, Again the list is endless. For a start
Get yongzhs emulators from slideme here. They are still free atm. This will let you play thousands of old games with proper controls
Get AdFree Android it will remove adverts when browsing the net on your phone it also removes the ads in free games such as angry birds e.t.c. You need to be rooted to use this app.
Get another keyboard since the stock one is pants. I use Swype. Takes a bit of getting used too but once you do its awesome. If you dont like swyping it is alot better than the stock keyboard for just normal typing
Other than that just read around all the sections of this fourm and see what other people are doing.

If you just bought it, then it isn't rooted yet. You have to go through the steps to get root yourself. If you can follow directions, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

Hello all first lg phone

Hi all first lg phone ever.always been a htc fan.as my contract was up this month. i decided That the htc m8 was not worth the upgrade from my m7. So here i am a proper LG phone virgin
me too, just joined this sub-forum, coming from the Nexus 4 end. Gotta say this G3 is a step up from the Nexus. Just got to figure a way out to delete all the LG crap, especially the McAffee anti virus. Anyone know how to get shot of unwanted apps, was easy with the nexus.
I rooted my G3 with this..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2850906
Then deleted all the LG and AT&T bloat ware with titanium backup...

I have already disabled a few apps but I want to delete them totally, they are just using space up. Cannot root as my two banking apps will not run and neither will Sky Go

I don't believe you can without root. You could root, remove them, and use a root hider for the apps that won't work with root.

root doesn't break apps. Root is just a permissions thing. IT's like gaining admin access and nothing more. Unless I'm sorely mistaken about some unique thing with the G3 root exploit I've never heard of root breaking an app.

Well there are several apps that don't work with root.
thats strange because I haven't noticed. I rooted my G3 as soon as I got home with it and I didn't have any apps break due to it. I don't use all the apps though and froze a lot of them. Perhaps the ones it "breaks" are those I don't use. Can you tell me which apps having root breaks because I'd like to check that out because in almost 4 years of rooting my past 5 phones I've never encountered root breaking an app.
Isis/softcard can read if you can get root permissions and displays an error message, but if you use rootcloak from xposed framework, it'll run just fine.

Yeah you can. All you gotta do is, root with Stump, get superSU from playstore and then get titanium, do what you gotta do and then go to superSU and "Unroot".
That option deletes root. Goodluck

well the two main ones for me are Halifax Banking and Sky Go. Also the Barclays banking app will not work. When you try to run them you get a message saying "Sorry we do not support rooted phones".
As it happens I have now moved a few apps to my SD card so have freed up a bit of space which was my main reason for my original post, I rather like the LG way of doing things, much better than Sense and definitely better than TW, so might just keep it stock :good:
Also my first LG phone been 4 days and I love it!! First thing I did was root with Towelroot the easiest I've ever rooted an android. With root everything is the way I want it now and so much less bloatware then my S4 had.
Really happy with this phone and quickly got use the buttons in the back which I find much easier.
