bump? anyone?
If OCLF isn't an MTD based ROM, you should be able to just flash a stock ROM (most of which will include a kernel that'll nuke CWM) from CWM.
If it's MTD-based, you would need to flash, with Odin (or Heimdall (sp)) the atlas pit and a compatible stock image, using 'repartition' mode.
^This!! Btw all of this information is in the stickies!!!

Can't figure what am I missing: I had ji6 kernel, flashed backsupport files and TW core v1, which worked fine, but I ran into an overheating issue and would like to go back to ji6. Saved the corresponding clockmod zip for ji6 kernel to sd, tried to flash - no go. What am I missing? Should I first "undo" backsupport somehow?
You may have to odin back to stock jfd then to ji6. But why don't you try one of jacs or kks kernels before you take the plunge back to stock.
Samsung Vibrant using Bionix Final w/ z4mod
Thanks, this is one option indeed. Btw, why would I need to flash jfd first? Can I just odin straight to stock ji6 rom (with the "upgrade" option?). Also, is there a way to revert backsupport to the original ji6 files? - that way I could just flash ji6 kernel again...
EDIT: as usual the solution was already there, I just didn't search well enough:

I have packaged this up for all who are interested... it can be found here, rather here. If you do not have ClockWork installed, just rename to update.zip and install through Samsung recovery as usual. I couldn't get the update.zip method to work, although I only experimented once.
And here, rather here is JAC's kernel (Vibrant OC/UV V1.1 CWM Recovery) along with the Old kernel back-ported files.
And here is JAC's kernel (Voodoo OC/UV Beta4 CWM Recovery V1.1). *I have not tested this kernel due to having the larger NAND.

Hey guys,
I don't know if I missing the BIG picture somewhere but I just can't seem to find a way to get CWM installed on a fresh JL2 install?
Iv'e googled, xda, android forums, I'm just not finding anything!
As of now:
Rooted phone with Super One Click
SU latest
Titanium Backup
ROM manager
I tried an Odin CMW.tar via PDA field and bricked my phone. Took me about 2 hours to get it back. I had Phone-!-PC icon, then I had /dev/sd/slt01 (... something along those lines), then I had infinte boot loops. What a mess!
I have also tried it from ROM manager, and tried older CMW offered in ROM Manager.
There has to be some simple thing I'm missing.
That is all I have done with the phone. Ill leave like this until someone can point me in the right direction. Just so we are clear phone is well now.
Thanks.
All I did to get Clockwork working in my JL2 was flash CF Root using odin and then flash clockwork via rom manager. All the instruction are in the cf root thread in the development section.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 is the url for CF-Root and I used the CF Root JPK v1.1 file. It'll root your phone too so if your not already rooted then you don't have to worry about super one click or anything.
Ok, I flashed CF JPK v1.1 and installed CWM via ROM Manager but it does not boot into CWM, it goes straight to <e2>. but if i select update.zip it will boot CWM but if I reboot, it goes straight back to <e2>.
After you flash cwm with rom manager you have to go in recovery
And select update.zip and it might take a few times but it should end up in cwd. Works everytime on mine, after it does it the first time I'm usually good.

The reason why you can't apply update.zip is because JL2 comes with recovery 3e i stead of 2e like eclair version and 3e verify for the signature of update.zip, so no unofficial customization this way. The easiest way is to flash a custom kernel. Speedmod by Hardcore will enable CWM recover by default and give you the option to root if not done prior to flashing the kernel. It's pretty easy to do with odin and takes only 5 sec as these kernel are 5-6 mb. Moreover it's really safe.

That would work too, cf-root is with odin too and only takes a few seconds but as usual the instructions are on the first page of the thread.

I would also recommend this method. Super easy and it works.
+1 that's how I got CWM from a stock JL2 (speedmod 13a).
And if you get errors, reflash JL2 with update bootloader checked. It worked for me... ymmv.

I just got a Fascinate as my work phone... I have a modded Vibrant as my personal phone.... Everything seems to be a little more complicated with this model compared to my Vibrant. I have 2.1 update 1 on it right now.....
I downloaded SuperClean 2.8 VooDoo edition..... So my upgrade path should be...
Root.....
Odin.... CWM-Recovery.....
My question is do I have to flash the radio/modem individually or will the Rom write it for me as it does on the Vibrant?
Then flash Rom in CWM... Boot... Wait for lagfix.... and Done....
Feel free to poke holes in my thought process here..... Thanks in advance....
You will need to flash the radio separately from the ROM/Kernel.
Unfoutnatly, cwm can't flash the radio yet. Its quite unfournate, and makes it inconvenient as well.

The order you should follow is root, flash cwm in Odin, make sure you have superclean on your sd, turn off phone and remove battery, flash eb01 modem in Odin, put battery back in and boot recovery, flash Rom first and kernel second, reboot and enjoy.

Thanks guys...
EDIT: Will I have to re-activate since the Modem changed?
Also make sure in Odin you flash using the PDA option.
Yeah... I'm not new to ODIN just the fascinate steps....
you have to flash that sperately. just make sure your kernal isnt still in your firmware folder.
All,
I hope this will be a quick fix.
I'm running an ICS ROM. Surface - and its beautiful!
I had a corrupt update though which semi-bricked the phone. I'm back up and running now with ICS but had to take the phone back to stock gingerbread via download mode and heimdall, re-root with cfroot and then update from CWM.
I can get download mode with Vol-/home at boot and can get into clockwork mod recovery by rebooting from CWM manager but I can't get there from cold with Vol+/home. I could get it with the cfroot kernel.
My guess is that I've flashed an SBL which had removed the feature - can anyone recommend an SBL I can flash seamlessly to give me the capability back without being to downgrade from ICS again? Does anyone have a better idea what the problem might be caused by?

Flash JVR or JVS.
Thanks for the reply.
Would it be safe to just flash the primary and secondary bootloaders from jvs over my existing ICS install or is that asking for trouble?

I have the ACS recovery files...
I have su.zip
I have the GB kernel or whatever.
I can't root the thing.
What am I missing? I tried Odining the ACS recovery and it does not give me the new recovery menu when I do the 3 fingers...
I personally would grab the CWM 5.027 Odinable recovery and follow qbking's video here:

Yes. It is very simple. Doing it the 2 step way couldn't be easier.
1. Stock el30, Odin the kernel that allows it to boot another recovery
2. Odin cwm.
3. I flashed directly to an mtd rom and couldnt be happier.
I have owned this epic since launch and can honestly say this is the best my phone has ever ran. All around clean gb1.1.2 w no CPU control, just letting the rom do its thing and setting all of my stuff up I have never had such good battery life. Stable on cm9 also but cm9 does use more juice than your standard gb roms. Mtd "basically" just provides you more room. Very crude explanation but that's the lamens terms

I thought no one did an odinable prerooted yet for us. Toadlife's was full stock, unrooted. Easiest thing to do is Odin EL30, Odin cwm 5.027 with auto reboot unchecked. Remove from computer, pop battery in and out, 3 finger into CWM and flash a prerooted EL30 ROM or MTD ROM of choice.

What he said. If your staying with stock rom. When you go into cwm. Flash. Superuser.zip. and then you should be fine. Before on EI22 there was a file that you had to delete. But I haven't been able to locate the file since.
