[Q] Mail program from Droid 2/X - Galaxy Tab General

I just got my Tab and one thing I like much better on my Driod2 is the mail program. I've not dug into it too much, but is there a way to install those on the Tab?

Nope. Not even worth a try.

DroidX keyboard for the Galaxy Tab?

Just got a new Verizon Galaxy Tab and am wondering if the DroidX multi touch keyboard can be instaled on it? I found an apk floating around but it seemed to be a 2.1 port and force closed as soon as i installed.

I think there was a thread about this at one point, and no one had much luck with it. I tried at least 4 different versions of the apk, including one that was supposed to work on 2.2 but no dice. I'm assuming someone with some skill may be able to modify it to work at some point. People suggested getting Smart Keyboard Pro from the market instead, so I gave it a shot. Costs a couple bucks, but it works amazing, and has just as good multitouch, if not better than the Droid x's.

Kool. Just downloaded the trial version and am using it now. Seems to be very similar to the Droid x.

My must have app for the Acer (or any tablet really)

I just downloaded SyncSms. Work by synching your tablet and phone via dropbox and works very well. Can text and browse on my tablet for only 3 bucks!

curious
Let me get this straight. You download the app on both your phone and your tablet?
Is there any lag between sending and receiving txt's?
Interesting in purchasing and trying this out.
Yes, with android phone as well as a free Dropbox account (I have the Evo). you dl the app to your phone and sign into your Dropbox account and it automatically sets the device to "phone" then you do the same to the tablet and it recognizes it's a tablet. You have two options for synching, there's a manual refresh button, or what I do is set the "auto sync" feature to every 15 seconds (pretty close to instantaneous). I have seen neglible battery difference on the phone or tablet. Sent a few hundred texts using this method and not one issue. Well worth the price, and you're talking to a guy that has actually purchased only a few apps.

Sync SMS is brilliant!

Yes I agree its brilliant. You can set the update interval to pretty much as fast as you want depending on how much you love your battery. Texting from the tab is boss!

Yup. There is a little toggle widget for switching syncing on and off.

Outlook calendar

Is it possible to accept/reject invites for meetings on the outlook calendar? In my calendar it just appears as a message which doesnt help ¡!
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I've found that Touchdown manages calendar settings much better than the native app. It lets you look at your calendar before you accept and on the accept response dialgo box you can enter a response text.
Additionally, Touchdown handles the "propose a new time" properly including seeing all of the other users in the meeting on a calendar aka Outlook.
It's a shame that the appearance of the Touchdown calendar is pretty ugly. If they were to make it look more like the native calendar they'd have a real winner.
Thanks I will try it out..have a great day...

Two issues
1st. Small screen...its not customized for galaxy tab...
2nd. What is the cost for a full version..is it worth it?

If I'm not mistaken, GT-P1000 is the original 7" tab running Froyo. You should post your questions on Galaxy Tab forum. This forum is for 10.1 tab running HoneyComb, totally different beast.
Thanks for the hint....
Good day

Connecting a galaxy nexus to a 7

Hello. I got my hands on one of these tablets yesterday and I really love it. However I have a galaxy nexus as well. When I'm using my tablet and I get a text message, I would like to respond from my tablet. The blackberry platform does this with their blackberry bridge. Is there something like this that would work with android? Or would I have to replace the stock messaging application with some third party cloud messaging app? Thank you

Try cloud sms...I've been following its development here on xda. It's in the play store for 99 cents you install it on both devices, then you can use your stock messaging app on your phone just like normal. You use the cloud sms app on your tab and all messages will sync. It works perfectly and sounds like it does exactly what you're looking for.

I've used air droid to do this, but its not native (you connect using the browser). I'm sure there's some third party app out there to do it.
Tabletsms/desksms by koush is fantastic. I've been using it for a couple months now and I love it

Mighty Text is working on one, I believe. They have an extension for the chrome browser on your PC, which I use often. So hopefully it will get done for the tablets. But you can still use it through a browser on the tablet.
Tablet talk seems pretty good. You can use it over WiFi or directly with bluetooth.
I am using tablet talk. It lets you answer phone calls, too. I have my N7 mounted in my car to play podcasts. It & my GNex are bluetooth-connected to the car's head unit. When the phone rings the caller ID info comes up on my N7 & I can answer it. It also does texts, too. I don't do that while driving
I found an app called dinamotxt that seems to be working. Sketchy at times, I think I will purchase tablet talk, mainly because I have Bluetooth everywhere, and I don't necessarily have WiFi. Thanks to everyone for the suggestions

It's available on the backend, but you've got to actually run apps that support the new features (it's all part of GCM if you want to look it up, replacing C2DM). Even Google's offerings using GCM though (Hangouts, looking at you!) are really...weird about it.
For text messages try Mighty Text. Just install it on both your android phone and the nexus 7

I've found a great app for me. NotiSync. The only negative point is, that this app only uses bluetooth. But its great, that i can configure custom apps
If someone have a similar app but per wifi, pls talk to me

Agree, Mightytext developer's really made my day a lot easier! Getting notified of SMS, MMS & calls that's incoming. Sure lot's of Apps gives the simular functions, but the great thing about MT is that you could have a tab running in your browser and get notified on the computer also, and that you can answer/create msg directly from N7 or webbrowser. Smooth is that it runs on your 3G/4G, so you'll not have to use bluetooth or wifi and flipping it on and off etc. Sure if you wanna use the wifi @ home on your phone, MT will of course use that route. Probably the most beloved product for me, because having long conversation over SMS is just dumb. When you have a keyboard that makes me input data that much faster, but not everyone is thinking like me Glad that's not the case though! hehe..
Best regards,
H.
