[Q] Help needed guys! - G2 and Desire Z General

Hi Guys,
i bought HTC Desire Z from Singapore this month, i was tried to root & it was successful, but when i try to roll back to original rom "RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed.exe" there is an error. wrong ID. I followed debranding from this forum still no help. I accidentally format the SD card and all the custom rom recovery backup file are gone. I only have clockmod recovery installed on SD card. now nothing i can see when boot up. I am really lost! need you people guide me to get back to normal. I cannot find any original ruu for Singapore model.
I really appreciate

No one offer help!
Sigh!

Have you got S-OFF (via the engineering version of HBOOT) on the phone as well as root ?
What happens when you try to boot the phone, what does it do/say ?

Can't get CID for goldcard

I flashed the wrong recovery for my mytouch3g 1.2 and can't get past the mytouch screen the phone was already rooted. I was updating to a new recovery and realized after I flashed it was the wrong recovery. I can still boot into fastboot mode but I am locked from uploading the correct recovery. So I need to make a new gold card to root the phone again to flash the correct recovery but I am unable to get the CID# to make a new gold card is there another way to accomplish this? I was testing a new ROM when I flashed a the recovery that's way the phone wont boot.
If you posted this in the correct thread you would get more responses.
I moved it to General for you because this has nothing to do with the development of roms.
Im in the same boat - Someone help?
I asked a friend to let me borrow their android phone>> I installed terminal, popped in my SD card and pulled the CID. --- Know anyone with an Android phone? My best solution for ya.
Did it work for you?
Yes, I installed terminal on my friend's phone from Market - booted her phone with my SD card, ran the cat command and pulled the CID. --- Had even more fun getting the Hex formatting to work on my Gold card... but I finally got my phone up and running again. Good Luck and if I can help let me know. the unlckr GoldCard instructions were the most concise. Then Amon_RA's posts were the best.

Want Airtel India original ROM for HTC Hero

Dear Friends,
I have a HTC Hero provided by Airtel carrier in India and i have updated and rooted it but i guess i have a hardware fault on my phone as it has corrupted 3 of my memory cards. I wish to give it for warranty claim and i guess they wouldnt accept the phone with custom OS as there is no official udpate for Airtel India HTC Heros.
I wish to roll back the original ROM and give the phone for claim. Please help people....
Regards,
Paddy
Moved to general as not development.
Regarding your issue, is there a 2.1 ROM available in your area? I'm sure I remember an OTA or something for 2.1 India...
No buddy..there is no official update in India.. Even when i check the HTC india site it doesnt give me option of new update. Also i tried HTC worlwide website but it doesnt allow me to download the official update as it says invalid IMEI number.
Also if i manage to get another hero on airtel, can we extract the ROM from other device??
Hmmm. Here's an Indian RUU.
RUU_Hero_hTC_Asia_India_3.31.720.2_R_Radio_63.18.55.06O_6.35.15.01_release_signed.exe
From http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Her...io_63.18.55.06O_6.35.15.01_release_signed.exe
Disclaimer: I have no idea if this is officially released, so I would wait and see first if anyone knows about that. This won't be airtel, which is a problem maybe.
A nandroid from another phone would do it, but only if you can fastboot boot it to make the nandroid without rooting.
I remember my build was 1.73.4xx before updating..so link might not b useful...
the other option u gave, could u pls elaborate more..u can give me a link to any guide or steps if available..appreciate ur help n patience buddy..thanks..
1. Find very trusting friend with Airtel India ROM installed you want. It needs to be old, as in not updated. a 1.x might work, as fastboot should be unlocked.
2. Use http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/08/how-to-gain-root-access-on-your-htc-hero/ guide. Follow steps 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, but use the latest AmonRA Hero recovery instead of whatever they recommend there.
When it enters recovery, make a nandroid backup using backup and restore menu.
Now copy the files in the nandroid folder from friend's sd card to your PC. Paste folder onto your SD card. Rename the folder HT99************* to your serial number of your device. Then go and restore this nandroid.
You will then need to check if you have a recovery image installed on your phone, that you might need to change. And make sure you've not flashed anything else.
Then restore to factory defaults via the menu, and check everything's back to normal
Sorry buddy, i was quite involved and busy so couldnt reply. I've arranged for a HTC Hero on airtel but i'll get the possession sometime next week. Will reply back once i try getting the rom following the link you provided.
I think i have amon recovery installed as i had used gold card method to install the custom OS. How do i remove/uninstall it???

Paddy

Get the stock recovery image from another RUU (I am pretty sure it's worldwide the same), and do
flash_image recovery recovery.img
from adb shell, when you are in /sdcard, after pushing the image to the sd card.
Sorry for the stupi question but i dont know how to extract the recovery image from RUU. I have old RUU i guess 1.6 gsm worldwide which i used in goldcard method. Incase you have the image, could you please attach it to the post...

Paddy
dude
did you get official 2.1 rom for airtel? I have rooted my phone and currently running CyanogenMod android 2.2 rom. it is good except it reboots phone sometimes.

[Q] What can I do? (Stuck in Fastboot)

I was using the new HTC Gratia Rom that was posted in the development forum, was restoring some apps with Titanium Backup manager when my phone rebooted, then it got stuck in a boot loop. I wiped it and rebooted again but no joy, stayed stuck in the loop.
Anyway, I recently installed a new recovery image, one of the ones for jailbreaking the PS3, so I have no USB access. Also it has a few extra options for wiping than the Amon RA recovery, and I guess I shouldn't have used the format boot option! Now on bootup all I get is "FASTBOOT USB", though I can still get into the psfMod recovery image.
That isn't much use to me though, as I stupidly deleted my nandroid backup and the update.zip file from my SD Card earlier while tidying it up a little bit. I don't have any other way of accessing the SD card and attempts to push another recovery image (with USB access) have failed.
I've also tried to install RUU's, both a T-Mobile UK one and a WWE one. That results in the following error: "ERROR [140] BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR".
I guess because the current image version is: 3.31.110.1 and the RUU is only: 2.73.110.26. I don't think there's an RUU of this version available, from reading it sounds like it was an OTA, it's not something I installed myself, T-Mobile sent me this phone recently after my screen stopped working properly.
If you've managed to read this far without falling asleep, any suggestions would be welcome hopefully not just that I should buy a card reader cos I could do with getting my phone going again asap.
You got access to another phone which uses a micro SD? Could use that to put the zip onto the card.
Making a goldcard springs to mind as well
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Thanks for the tip, I had considered this already but I thought my brothers Legend (he doesn't live close) was my best bet. Turns out I had access to an N95 that did the trick
same problem
im a complete n00b
screen got replaced last month. new software was installed im guessing.
tried to use the tmobile ruu's to repair. there isnt one i can use though.
tried putting an engineering spl onto my sd card and using fastboot not really sure what happened there but it did not work.
does anyone have the appropriate update in zip format. not sure how i will get it to work but im trying all the things i read.
i do have backups but im not really sure what to do with them.
other than htc has anyone ever created an ruu?

What is the problem with urs exactly?
the problem is that im stuck in a cyanogen boot loop.
i have access to the generic fastboot only. therefore i have no ability to repair my phone from within the phone itself.
my phone is currently on hboot 1.76.0007.
i thought i had flashed clockworkmod. but for some reason or another beyond me it has disappeared.
the version of android i have running is 2.1, the tmobile version. the update number is 3.31.110.1. i understand that is the perfected spl version.
i have tried to fix using the ruu files. but i understand that the version on my phone as an ota update. therefore no ruu is applicable at this time.
i have tried many methods mentioned in various forums with no success.
thanks for responding to my post so quickly.

Problem solved now
and the solution was so obvious............
...and what was that obvious solution? Because I'm facing a similar problem...
Thx in advance!

[Q] [Help Request] HTC Wildfire wont boot into android

Ok i managed to successfully root my phone a couple of months back using unrevoked (no problems there).
Recently Vodafone UK (my carrier) has released an OTA android 2.2 update which i was having trouble installing. I decided to attempt to un-root my phone and in my wisdom used the clockword Recovery mod to "Partitions menu > format boot"
believing that the factory default "boot" would be restored (big mistake) To make things worse i didnt make a backup of the boot partition using the "nandroid" option within clockworkmod (it seams obvious in hindsight)
anyway my current problem is that i'm stuck with a phone that wont boot into android and only my self to blame. Bellow are the current screens/options that i am able to access.

http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/6416/sdc11046t.jpg
http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/6411/sdc11048.jpg
After doing some research/googling i came across this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-807509.html
which in turn lead me to this file:
http://rapidshare.com/#!download|38l34|419254202|PC49IMG.zip|126004
The file which it says is missing. Once i have an SD micro card reader (going out to purchase one tomorrow) i am going to attempt to place this file on the sd card (in the boot partition?!) and use it to try and boot from.
My question(s):
Will this work?
Do i have any other options?
Is it possible to find and download someone elses backup file and use clockwork to restore from that?
Any and all help will be much appreciated!
looking at your screens i would say u need to create a "goldcard" and flash a generic RUU , have u tried using unrevoked while at the bootloader screen ??? that MIGHT work

What I did was flash a stock froyo build onto the phone, this is possible as you have s-off. This can be rooted, do that then install clockwork mod. Then on the HTC Vision XDA wiki follow the steps to unroot the phone. Make sure it's for the desire z not the T-Mobile G2.
hmmm... how to flash stock froyo, and where is it m8?
thanks for reply!!
btw, when try recovery in botloader, coming back with red triangle...
No unrooting was necessary for me
I just sent in a g2 to tmobile for a warranty replacement because my screen stopped working. I was rooted and running CM6.1. I got my new phone in 24 hours and returned the old one weeks ago. It was accepted and I was only charged for the rush shipping I requested to get my replacement phone faster.
It's possible you don't need to unroot. I'm not saying it's a guarantee that they don't hassle you, but on tmobile they didn't check. Obviously it may differ given that you have a desire z and are probably with a different carrier.
i bought it for cash, so have to send it direct to htc, and they prob know what they doing, as t mob and other providers not always looking at this things and they sending 1000 back so not all get checked for this sort of things..
SORTED
repeated rooting process, phone didnt load os and stuck on htc logo, rebooted in to recovery and as cwm rom manager was back , restored image of cm7.. now will try not to brick it...
