Does anyone know if there will be an easier way to root the Mytouch 4G? Such as a 1-click Root.

yes you need root, and and if you read the description for the app, it says "does not work with HTC sense UI" so it wont work on MT4G
It will work on the mytouch 4g, but just not the stock rom or any other sense rom. You would have to root, then flash any other rom that isn't sense. Cm7 for example.

No root for the OTA yet, but downloading to 2.2.1 and rooting that will net you the same result as rooting the update. Are you just worried about downgrading? I think i have seen you ask this before.
I just got a device with the ota. I just don't know how to do it there's no guides.

I also can confirm that the downgrade works. Just make sure you download the usb drivers for the MT4G and read about ADB it's very easy if you follow the instructions.
I was concerned about bricking my phone also but it does work.
Good Luck.

[Q] rooting mytouch4g 2.3.4 gingerbread

is there any way to root mytouch 4g 2.3.4
would i have to downgrade to 2.2.1?
yes, downgrade to 2.2.1, root, flash the rom of your choice
you have to downgrade at the moment. If you to to the development section for our phone, then look for resource Bible. In the guide section, there's 2 threads on how to downgrade your phone to 2.2.1 . Once that is done you can either root with gfree or root.sh.
From my fist to your face, enjoy.
You can do the above mentioned.. or just wait. There are ppl working on a straight method.

If you have s=off already all you need to do is flash a recovery image, then backup/wipe/flash the ROM of your choice.

This can help if you need to root. With s off

What method of root did you use? If you used the gfree method, then yes, it's SIMUNLOCKED. if not, the best way to unlock is to call tmobile and ask them for the unlock code.
