[Q] Keyboard languages gone after flashing, downgrade not helping - Galaxy Tab General
Hi guys,
Being addicted to fiddling with all my devices, I flashed my Tab with newer firmware than what was originally in (XXJH3).
My Tab was bought in Norway, and had norwegian/swedish/danish keyboard options both for Swype and for Samsung keyboard.
After flashing, they are all gone. Also tried reflashing to XXJH3 (going from JJ4 which is the only full firmware on samfirmware.com), but they will not come back.
Any suggestions? I've tried alot of things, like purposedly "bricking" it and let Kies try restore original firmware (which doesn't work as it won't recognise it as a device needing recovery or upgrade), or flash more or less all of the firmwares on samfirmware.com, but nothing seems to contain these languages.
Does anyone have a working Windows registry entry for the device for Kies which is older and will allow a Kies flash?
Or does anyone know of a way to add these languages back manually?
try to instal jk5 from samfirmware.com. it's quite fast and you will find languages there.
i had similar problem.
I have JK5 on at the moment, and the languages are not there.
They are there for the whole device, so I can set my device to be any language, but there's only a limited amount of languages for the Swype and Samsung Keyboard, no longer including scandinavian languages.
anyone been able to solve this.. ? i have the same problem..
want to get it back to stock after trying to update the fw. and now the swedish keyboard is gone. tried everything i can think of. would apreciate the help if possible.
the best thing would probably be to get the stock fw (pda,csc,phone) that u flash with odin... anyone with it ?
Have you try starting from JHA? Then JID.
Other think, chan you try to check if your country code is still the same?

Mine said KOR, I thought it was supposed to be XEU? But don't really know what it was originally.
I changed it to XEU, and it automatically did a factory reset of the device.
After, at least Samsung Apps License Agreement came in a scandinavian language
Still no new languages for keyboard input though, might be they were stripped in the flash? Or not at all in the firmware version.
I suspect it may be only in the HUGE hidden.rfs in the JJ3 firmware, but no idea how to get that back and never been able to flash JJ3 successfully.
same here.. it said kor.. now it's probably atleast one step closer to solving thins thing...
Guys KOR is Korean, so you have to change it to your country, but do a backup before because when u change it will do automatically the factory reset.
About the keyboard, do you have just one language or more?
i have 10 languages at keyboard.. nederlands, englishm french, german, italian, chinese kind of thing, polish, portugese, spanish, turkish,.. but no swedish

Same to me, with ITV product, I think it is firmware related.Why don't you try installing the one in the JH3 (extract it from the factory.fs)?
I changed again according to some table I found at samfirmware.com, where it said "CP" was scandinavian code - so mine is now set to "CPW".
I also tried extracting the Swype.apk from JH3 and installing that (mounted readwrite system partition), but it made my Swype crash constantly and upon reboot the original version was back in.
I've not really experimented much with replacing system packages though.
cant we get a clean dump from someone.. ? or is it not possible to do a dump ?

I have the same problem with Swedish keyboard disappearing after JM6.
Found a list of country codes over at Samfirmware called "samsung official letter code" where there are three-letter codes for a lot of countries.
CPW is listed as a code for the UK.
For Sweden the following codes are listed:
BAU = SWEDEN
BCN = SWEDEN
BME = SWEDEN
BSG = SWEDEN
BTH = SWEDEN
COV = SWEDEN
HTS = SWEDEN
SEN = SWEDEN
TET = SWEDEN
TLA = SWEDEN
XEE = SWEDEN
VDS = SWEDEN
TNO = SWEDEN
I am at work and don´t have the Tab with me to try and see if any of the codes where listed on the *#272*yourIMEI# dialogue. Will try it later this evening.
Hm but KOR isn't even in that list, however XEU and CPW are listed as UK...
Norway is TEN, it's not available in the list on the phone.
what we probaly need is a original csc file.. for scandinavia...
It would be nice if we could solve this, I really miss the samsung keyboard and swype.

how to change the language
Morning, I recently purchased a touch2 from Jordan and everything was in English. Well the other day my son got a hold of the pohne and installed a application that turned almost everything to Arabic. Now, I have NO technical know how when it comes to phones. I keep hearing that i can go in the registry and change it back to english. Do any of you guys know how to do that? Ps. I tried the hard reset numerous times and it's still in Arabic. Also, I need step by step instructions...Thanks
I have the same problem. I have just bought the phone from the US and the interface language is in Chinese . I want to change it to English.
My phone was in polish loc. and after hard reset i changed loc. in to slovak

Click to collapse Honestly - is this really possible? I thought changing the language on any windows mobile phone always needs to flash the ROM, and maybe even need to unlock in some way (hard spl or whatever)... Basically, if I could really change the language to english, I might be thinking to buy two of those Touch2 here in taiwan for my GF and me... but I can't read chinese, so changing to english would be necessary. On the other hand, with the ROMs I saw there was no traditional chinese version, just "WWE Asia"... this kinda sounds like there are more languages inside there... hmmm... lets see, I'm off to a HTC store to test this
Yoc can try to install Sunnysoft Interwrite to change a language. If you chave Sunnysoft Interwrite try to change language in start/settings/system/sunnysoft interwrite. In home page of this program you can select language without HR, only SR.

Click to collapse I know this is a very late answer within this thread, but yes, that's how it seems to work. For example, I have a Touch Diamond purchased in Slovakia, it is the WWE version. After the first power on, it made me pick between 6 languages: English, Slovak, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Romanian. Once the language is picked, it will update all the system files, and you cannot change the language again. But if you do a hard reset (like I did today) everything is wiped and the phone will boot just like it did the first time - going through all the initial configuration, etc. And it will allow you to select the OS language again. Now, I don't know what languages may be included with phones sold in Asia. Above is just to give you an idea how the localization stuff worked on my Diamond.

Click to collapse By the way, no, there is no way to change the language with WWE ASIA or also the traditional chinese HK version. You can hard reset as often as you want, no menu pops up. So I guess that's a special feature of some select ROMs, like the one for the mentioned middle/east european languages. But now with HardSPL we can at least flash all ROMs that are available, so I got my Touch2 from the store in Taiwan already flashed with WWE and HardSPL. Now I changed to WWE ASIA and that's pretty good already In a nutshell: Changing languages (with a few exceptions) requires HardSPL and flashing a ROM.
There is no way on ASIA ROM cause its basicly not WWE, but Asia ROM. HTC has many ROMs with specific language in them.

Click to collapse You are fully correct....changing language is for a selected number of Rom's. Since quite some people (incl myself) like this idea have asked some Rom cookers to built this feature as standard eg. have dual language options. Sofar unfortunately no reaction..... So I think basically it is possible but not available. If more people ask for it.....it will happen someday either via HTC or XDA.

what languages does it contain, please?

Czech,Poland,Romania,EN,Slovak
Are you sure that this is working ?
yes yes on 100%. personally use.
CZ language is perfect but i have problem ...I can´t send MMS after patched
no problem language czech.good seting mms ?
FYI every HD mini ever being sold in Czech Republic already contains Czech language by default (unless bought in other country), theres no reason to do this harakirri, simply choose Czech language instead of English by first time HTC Sense setup, same goes for whole eastern Europe, Poland, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovenian etc etc. If you bought the phone and it already was preinstalled in english, simply run the Sense setup again and choose whatever language u want, its not a matter of phone being localized or not but a matter of HTC Sense being localized. I've sold hundrets of these phones and every single piece had it.
I've just installed PL, works fine, thanks. However I've noticed few bugs. Would you mind giving suggestion how can I edit PL file and correct it? I'd appreciate it. thanks a lot.
language hi ,been looking for this ever since i bought my HD MINI works just fine in RO language .Great job ,keep it up thankyou kalros
Kies JFF Upgrade advice please!
Hello all, I am new to android and have been reading quite a bit of this forum to catch up! I need some advice. I bought Galaxy S from an e-shop in greece back in July which specifically said greek version. And true to its word it did have the greek language and swype keyboard installed but when the phone booted up it was in SpanisH (after a while I managed to change it to english). I have a PDA version of XWJFB and phone and CSC version of XXJF5 because the PDAand phone version is not the same kies says that I cannot upgrade this version. HOWEVER, when I use kies in test mode it says that I can update to PDA:JFF/PHONE JF5. Is it safe to upgrade? Will I loose the greek swype and language or something... Thanks in advace, Chryssa
Multi CSC without Scandinavia?
I purchased my Galaxy Tab in a Swedish store, but unfortunately it was parallel imported from somewhere else. I have seen that I should be able to change CSC to match my country but after entering the *#272*IMEI# code neither CTL for Denmark or XEE for Nordic countries is displayed. How can I change to the right are? Do I need another firmware? My current one is JJ7 I do have Danish locale and UI but not Swype / dictionary etc
