[HELP] CWR Problems - Fascinate General

I was running Blackhole 1.4.1 and Geekniks 1.5.4 Kernel.
I wanted to try to update to DJ05. I downloaded the fascmodem.tar file. I flashed it while in download mode with odin using the PDA category. When I restarted my phone I could no longer get into CWR.
When I try to apply update.zip from the stock recovery, the error given is:
Finding update package...
E: Can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:9
(No such file or directory)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
Installation aborted.
Please help.
I've tried reflashing CWM, I still have root access (according to "su -c id")

Fixed!!!! bad SD card.

[Q] SD card not mounting in recovery

So I'm trying to install update.zip in recovery to get to clockwork. Problem is its not letting me install it, I'm getting the following error:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/vold/179:9
(no such file or directory)
E:Cant mount SDCARD:update.zip
Ive tried various downloads, and 2 different SD cards still no luck. Also tried various Odin's too.
Should I try to flash to stock then start over? I was running a Voodoo kernel and did a fixed lagfix(odd typing that) now I'm stuck. This really has me puzzled.
By the way i cant boot to android either
Thanks for all the help and awesome forum!
Well I'm back to stock now, but at least its not a brick
if anyones curious or has this problem i used the adrynalyne.us/files/kernels/DI01package3.tar.md5 to flash the stock rom.

Random, but did you flash the correct modem first?
Are you sure that you are in clockwork recovery and not the Samsung recovery? Have you flashed the correct clockwork through Odin? You need to have the odin flashed clockwork recovery to be able to install test zips. If you are trying to flash a froyo rom you will need to flash the red (voodoo) clockwork recovery.
Can you describe what steps that you have taken when clockwork was installed and what Rom you are trying to download/install. Thanks!
Install ROM abort
Frustrated and bummed. Would it cause problems or damage my phone to root phone again and re-install Odin 1.3, ClockWork Mod Recovery (voodoo or non voodoo?)? Already installed ROM Manager Premium and Titanium Back-up from Mkt.
Lost!

Why don't you just do the all in one eb01 Odin? Then you don't have to even mess with clockwork, it's super easy. Look for it in the development section

Hi,
my phone is rooted and i flashed XXKG2 kernel on it.
I installed rom manager and ClockworkMod Recovery.
I then accidentally deleted my update.zip file.

e: failed to verify whole-file signature
e: signature verification failed
Installation aborted
choosing the zip file from the list and trying to apply it doesn't work.
what is this update.zip for ? and how do i restore it ? is it related to my CWR problem ?
thanks.
then flash a Root-Kernel from CF again
you can find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399

[RESOLVED] How do I restore factory Rom (from Revolution HD 3.0.1 on TF101)?

I am running the Revolution HD rom, this is how I purchased my TF101 from a friend, and I want to restore the factory rom so I can get ICS and the update for the battery issue until mike gets it implemented into Revolution.
How can I do this?
Thanks!
-edit- nevermind, I didn't notice you were running revolution.
If you want to flash back to stock, go to the ASUS Support site and download the 9.2.1.11 firmware for your device.
Unzip it 1 time (there is a zip file within the zip) so it will still have a zip.
Put the file on a microSD or the internal /sdcard/ directory depending on your version of CWM and where it can read.
Boot to CWM.
Install zip.
Choose the zip you downloaded.
Now you will be back to stock unrooted with stock recovery.
Then you will need to check for updates and grab the latest update from ASUS OTA.
If you want to root again you will need to vipermod option 1 to get root access.
Ah, thank you Fred! I did exactly that and it failed but it was the zip within a zip that killed me!
The update is actually failing with the following error:
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/blob", "staging")
E:Error in /sdcard/US_epad-user-9.2.1.11.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
Any ideas?

Here's exactly what I did to go from Revolution HD 3.0.1 back to stock Asus ICS 9.2.1.11
1. Download the firmware from Asus website. The file name was US_epaduser9_2_1_11UpdateLauncher.zip. You unzip this. You get US_epad-user-9.2.1.11.zip. You put US_epad-user-9.2.1.11.zip on your microSD card.
2. Boot into CWM
3. Factory reset
4. Clear Cache
5. Clear dalvik cache
6. Mount & Storage - format /system
7. Mount & Storage - format /cache
8. Power off(from CWM menu, might be under advanced, I forgot)
9. Boot into CWM.
10. Install zip from sdcard. Choose US_epad-user-9.2.1.11.zip on your microSD.
11. Reboot after flashing is complete.
12. You should now be on Asus stock ICS with stock recovery.
13. I didn't add any of my google accounts during the initial setup because I wanted to do it after I do the 9.2.1.17 update.
14. Shut off and do a cold boot.
Worked perfectly fine for me.
What didn't work was, I was not getting the 9.2.1.17 update afterwards.
So I rooted using Vipermod, installed CWM, and manually flashed the update through CWM. I had to re-root after the update. Simply ran Vipermod again.
Been 2+ days, and it's super stable with great battery life. Not a single random reboot or crash.

You probably have a custom recovery that doesn't mount the staging partition. You can mount it manually through adb in recovery "mount /dev/block/mccblk0p4 /staging" or flash a repackaged stock rom. At this point, you will probably have a stock system, but not the boot.img, bootloader, or recovery. The blob will flash the those parts, including the recovery, so you will be unrooted with a stock recovery.

Ya, its ClockworkMod Recovery v3.1.0.1.
I tried Horndroids steps above and its still the same error.
I'm sorry but how do I "mount manually through adb"?
Ive only ever used clockworkMod

I am pretty sure my CWM Recovery was 3.1.0.1 too.
Try replacing your CWM with Rogue XM Recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1446019
Awesome! That worked great. Thanks Horndroid!

[Q] Motorola Defy Update to Android 4 Problem

Hi guys, I hope you can help me.
I have a Motorola Defy and was sick of being stuck on Android version 2.nothing and looked around the internet to see about updating it to version 4.
I have rooted it with superoneclick and downloaded 2 zip files which I have placed on the internal sdcard
gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
CM9-NIGHTLY-120613-Defy.zip
I have put the phone in boot mode. Done the wipe data/ Factory Reset option....all is good.
I then go to apply sdcard:update.zip and am met with the following message.
E:can't open /cache/recovery/command
E:can't open /cache/recovery/caller
--Install from sdcard...
Finding update package ...
opening update package...
verifying update package...
E:failed to open /sd/update.zip(no such file or directory )
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
How frustrating! Could any of you fine people tell me what I need to do in order to get the defy running Android 4 please.

You need to use the 2nd Init installer APK, it sounds like your flashing using stock recovery! read this incredibly helpful guide.
Follow this step. Since you have already rooted your phone.
Download the 2ndint from here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12837303
download version 2.0, people say 2.3 din work for some.
Install the apk file.
open there app.
Click on install 2int boot.
Then reboot to recovery if you see a option.
If not reboot the phone, when you see a blue LED notification light ob start up, press the volume down button. This will take you to cwm recovery.
Wipe data/factory.
wipe cache.
Advanced - Wipe dalvik cache.
Install zip from sd card.
choose the rom, flash it.
Choose the gapps. flash it.
Wipe data/factory.
wipe cache.
advanced - wipe dalvik cache.
Reboot ICS
And hey you have downloaded ICS Rom and Jelly Bean gapps which won't work. so download ICS gapps from goo.im
