I don't think you can do it mate. Sorry to be the bearer of no good news! I may be wrong, but have never seen anything on the forums for that, and I know there's no settings on the phone for it.

but before everyone dashes over there and starts posting 'how to instal android on my hd2' it doesn't work, yet, but it IS a massive step closer.

Rockplayer has hardware decoding!!!

How long has it had this option?
Haven't used since my N1 and played horrid on software encoding
But just tried on my NS and notice now it has hardware decoding option, course it crashed because its needs to be updated for 2.3...this is freak n awesome just tried on my vibrant and plays all my high quality HD vids perfect
This is great for people like myself coming from galaxy S
now just need an update for 2.3

Ignore this thread rockplayer in hardware mode is limited to what the system can play so that's why my vibrant worked becasue it supports codecs

You should be clear something: which rom exactly did you mean? Please use help thread for custom roms instead created another topic if your question belongs to it otherwise there's a noob friendly help thread were you can ask every question. Did you searched already? Questions are out there.

AFAIK video recording works on every custom rom atm with snap camera(inbuilt).
