Does anybody know if is possible to root the samsung intercept and use the wireless theteting feature? My epic is not activated yet and I'm thinking to use it on metro pcs and pay &40 per month for a ****ty service. But im wondering if I can get the intercept on boost and pay only $25 per month with sprint service.

Dude, no way. As per your status, it looks like you have a hero. Root your hero using SuperOneClick (google it), and install wireless tether. Gives you a wifi hotspot, its the best thing EVER. no tether either. AND no $$. Beastly.

What kernel are you running and which model PS3? Newer line or older?
Mine doesn't read Wireless Tether yet, but the dev's are close to having Compat-Wireless done I think, and that will solve the problem.
I heard that the Nexus S 4g is coming to Sprint and I'm interested in trading my Samsunv Epic for it. Can I sell my Samsung Epic and use the money to buy the Nexus S 4G without cancelling the contract. Thanks for your help.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Not unless you have a phone to use before you sell the Epic.

There are multiple lines on my account. Does that count?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
No. There needs to be a phone on every line.
Texted while driving
Yes I have that
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
You're not understanding, you can't take a phone (in this case the Epic) off your line unless you have a phone to replace it at that very moment.
Texted while driving
what he's saying is:
If you sell your Epic, the phone will have to be deactivated from your account first. The only way to do that if you are on a contract is to replace the Epic with another phone so that line doesn't incur early termination fees.
Your options are
1: buy the Nexus first, activate it to your Epic line and then sell your Epic
2: if you have an old sprint phone lying around that is no longer in use then activate that on your Epic line, sell your Epic and then buy the nexus and replace your old throw away phone.
Wait I can have two phones on one line?

What I did when I sold traded my touch pro for the seller's touch pro 2 on craigslist was completed the phone transaction then and there on the spot. I told the sprint agent that me and my friend wanted to exchange phones and they help us complete the transaction with any early termination fees.
Wow now I realise how fortunate I am that I use gsm. Sim cards for the win.

Yes its possible i did it when I traded my evo for the epic. Both partys went to a sprint store and the rep there did the swap.

Only problem is used Epic's aren't selling for crap these days, you will have a large margin to cover when you buy the Nexus at full (no contract) price.
But heck, if you find someone willing to pay well for an Epic see if he wants two of them I'd like to move to the nexus as well.
Edit: it looks like the nexus S will only be $400 off contract...so we might be able to get close to that. Hmmm...decisions decisions.
I don't know how useful this is for you guys on Verizon, but i spotted this earlier when i was surfing

Fortunately for me, I was grandfathered in. Love that unlimited data plan!
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
I wanted to switch but the tiered data plan was not worth it.
If VZ does unlimited again I will switch. I average 6-20gb a month of data. Low is 6gbs.
Now it appears VZ has netter phones than AT&T. I had the skyrocket but returned it because I want the nexus and the fcc past this through in december for AT&T but it was not LTE.

I am new here to Aria and ATT. I was wondering if ATT can detect tethering on all Cusom Roms?
Sent from my HTC ThunderBolt using XDA Premium App
Yes... It's where the data terminates is how they can detect it. That and packet inspection.
I guess no one has figured out a way to stop detection like the devs on the cdma carriers.

ClockworkMod's new Tethering app is supposed to be undetectable -- although the app itself is not free (you can use it for a few weeks as a trial though) and it only supports USB tethering. Still might be worth a look: https://plus.google.com/103583939320326217147/posts/1Yy1jb9z4TA
You won't find it on the Market though because AT&T has blocked it. You'd have to sideload it.
Thanks. Pda supposedly has a stealth mode. I wonder how good that is compared to clockwork?

my HTC Aria rooted and using CY7 (nightlies) tethered to a laptop and to an HTC tablet with AT&T service. Didn't do it much, but did use it on several occasions, never had an AT&T problem..

Unfortunately it is not free. There is an in app purchurase, to unloc a key of the app. The funny thing is that for Apple users is free. I personally used the previous version, but Thanks to this I will try a new app to perform this function. Definitely lost a customer and sincerely hope that many others go away to.
Same here... Am enjoying watching the ratings go down for it... people are angry....

Yes you have to leave it on.
So does the old splash top HD still work, since that didn't require a monthly fee? Edit: yup still works even over 3G
