Froyo favorite features - Epic 4G General

I had froyo when I had a nexus one. With the Epic I had to go back to 2.1. Now I'm back on froyo and I see features I didn't have on my N1. I guess samsung added some extras?
Anyways my favorite so far is the little icon that shows up when I want to move my cursor.
What features has everybody else noticed/liked?
Sent from Froyo!

In the list of different people you're messaging you can drag left and right on their names to either call them or open up the text window.

I didn't even know it did that! Thats cool! I like the effect.

Stock messanger/sms looks really pale.

What are some good options? any apps that are worth it. I just hate the look of the stock Samsung sms screen.

Lmao I Wanted To Say The Same Thing Hahaha
But For Real, Personally Stock Is The Best, There Is The Stock Cyanogen App, (Not Created By Cyanogen But Used In His Roms) That Is Excellent Only Problem Is We Don't Have LED's :\
stock sms looks pale?
I think it is very good enough
SMS popup paired with the stock app.
I dont like popup, but I hate how the background is completely black on the stock one. Anyway to change it?
Handcent hands down. You can customize it any way you want. I like the look of stock though
the main thing I like is the black background lol
I really want the google talk has the same black background

I use ChompSMS, and I like it quite a bit... but looks-wise, it's pretty vanilla too. The background's white, your texts come up in green, and others' come up in white.

[Q] Porting the Fascinate Lock screen

Id love to port this thing over but what would all I need to edit? The XML files or just simply try and flash the framework-res.apk? Any help would be appreciated

Alot of the deva have been trying their hardest and it just keeps boot looping they said. It can't be done right now because unlike the fascinate, the Epic runs TW2.5 instead of 3.0. Gotta wait for 3.0 to be availible on the Epic I believe
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Isn't the Epic Experience Rom using TW 3.0?
People don't search no more. This question and awnser had been posted in many threads from roms to asking for the lock screen.

I don't think its a full version because you can't edit the bottom icons or the app drawer.

Really? Whenever I long press an app it only gives the option to put it on my homescreens. When i press Menu in the app drawer it only says List View , and when i long press the bottom icons it does nothing lol. But when I press the home button it lets me edit however many homescreens I want and it also has the numbers on the dots at the top showing which screen im on so I thought it was just a partial 3.0 or something haha.

Open the launcher, hit menu, select 'view type', choose 'customizable grid'.
Then hit menu again, and now select 'edit'.
Of course this is if you are rocking the Epic Experience ROM

The reason we got 2.5 is cause 3.0 wasn't working right in landscape mode. Are phone automatically goes into landscape once the keyboard is slide out. The other galaxy s phones do not have these keyboard. So landscape mode wouldn't pose a issue

WOW MAN I LOVE YOU!
lol I was like what the EFF why can't I move my bottom icons thanks so much this tip should be included in the features of the epic exp rom!
Porting the lockscreen would require using baksmali to mod the framework-res.apk. I've looked at it and it was way over my head. People without coding experience need not apply.
so, if it doesnt work right with TW2.5 and epic experience has TW3.0 from the fascinate then why dont we just port it onto epic experience? wouldnt that make it much easier?
EDIT: epic experience uses TW3.0 from the vibrant past 1.2.01. not sure what the difference is but it still should make porting it easier.

Dont load this.it slowed my phone down upon launch.Feels very buggy and has now after uninstalling made changes on my phone.
works fine for me. but not that great.
yeah, after giving it a go, i'm not a big fan, tbh. it looked cool in the video, but otherwise it's really a clock widget that takes up the screen, until you wipe it off, then it's just a bookshelf wallpaper. there are some folders and application organization options, but apparently those are broken not functioning in the ces version.
rather 'meh', after all.
i'll stick with adw ex
Looks promising once they update it. Make sure you leave feedback in the market so they know what they need to fix.
anybory know how to get the full version, in the CES version it says that if you want the full version to download if from the market?
That is one foul looking and awkward launcher. I don't like my phone looking like 1995's vision of future computer interfaces. The category drag-and-drop system is nice though.
I tried it for like 2 minutes. It's a novelty, nothing more. And an ugly one at that.
I get a force close using CM7. It definitely looks cool from the screen shots I have seen but seems like no one likes it here.
Anyone get it running on CM7? Also, does it allow widgets to be added?
They must of taken it down already. Anyone have another link to download? Not showing up in my market.

Very cool idea for a MOD for the Epic

I've had this idea for a while but forgot about it at some point.
OK, one of my favorite things about computer keyboards is the ability to easily cut, copy, and paste using keyboard shortcuts - ctrl+x, c, and v.
Can we do this with the Epic keyboard somehow? Using the Fn button + x, c, and v???
Hope a dev can make it happen cuz i can NOT.
The new swype beta can...not sure if the hw keyboard can though
Yes you can. The menu button on the left of the kb right above the back button works as ctrl also..

See, this is one of the reasons I love having a hw keyboard. Menu+X, Menu+C, Menu+V for paste. In fact isn't the Epic one of the only if not THE only one which replicates all 4 Android phone buttons on the keyboard?

Browser changes its theme?

This is something I've noticed for a while, but whenever I open the stock browser on EH17, I see a glimpse of the Galaxy SII's browser, where it has the grey bookmark icon at the top right. Then, a second later, it will change back to its Eclair-like "light blue" icon.
Anyone know the reason for this, or any way to get it to stay as the GS2 theme?
Thanks.
No one knows?

I posted this a while back, and all I got was people saying they noticed it but no responses on how to get it to stay. If someone figures it out, I'll love them forever.

I never really looked into it, but its a framework conflict I believe.
I think its because the browser takes over control of the look as its starting up.
