skype app won't work

Hello everyone, I downloaded the skype app from the android market a couple days ago, and I been trying to sign in over 3g or my home wifi but I get this error.
Can't sign in
We're sorry, but we couldn't sign you in. Please try again later.
and I know this is not a login/password issue because I sign in on my desktop just fine, may be something I have to tweak on the vibrant?
any help will be apreciated

Skype does not currently support Samsung Galaxy S phones ....

Yes. It helps to read the description of what you are downloading. It could have said "this bricks galaxy s devices." What then?

The funny thing is my friend - who has the Fascinate - tells me Skype works fine on him phone.

he is using the Skype for Verizon app which works. The OP is talking about the Skype app for other carriers.

my last phone was a o2 xda guide & there was only really one dev (billabongstaff) & he got donations & bought a HTC HD2 then ****ed off from o2 xda guide

Sure I do... Not sure where you are going with your reply so I will just say this... I just wanted to let all the casual/new xda forum users know so its easier for them to find the info. That's all. I think its awesome that steve is doing that... I have a friend running HC on the nook color and its sweet. It works so good that he won't switch back to froyo. Sure its a little buggy but for the most part, absolutely everything works on it app wise. The superuser.apk app doesn't work so you have no idea who you are giving root access to but other than that its the bomb.com

Anything in the news yet?

All these is old dj steve working on it but honeycomb don't give you phone call option , so there is no chance for honeycomb. Guys do some forum reading

I don't know what you said but im on CM7 and I can't download pictures either from anybody

if I can see the photos of the problem is cuandome comes a sound mms q I can not download

face time

Ok how, were, and what do i need to use face time on this thing??

lol facetime is "iFad" not Xoom lol

awwww then no real use for front facing cam other than use it as a mirror lol.

You can only use Google talk to video chat. Only to other xooms or computers.

You can also use Skype and Tango and many other apps... google is the best way to find more apps

Yea really I haven't been researching it since i got it. Been to bz playing with it
and remember I heard something somewhere about face time is all, didnt remember for what product and thought it was the xoom. So excuse my ignorance for not been that informed. but thanks for the reply

Face time is advertised all over that it is for Apple, that is why I was surprised that someone would think it was for Android.

Yep. Works great on my Evo and xoom

FaceTime is a joke.
Just use Tango (etc.). Cross platform for iOS/Android on 3G and WiFi.

where did you get the .apk for Oovoo? I've used it for years and always found it better than Skype but couldn't find it for the Xoom. All my family uses Oovoo so I would love to be able to chat with them on the go with this thing.

Did I miss something? Can we use Skype for video chat on the Xoom?

Fring crashes on the Xoom... too bad.

The fact that google does not include a more obvious video chat is ridiculous.

[Q] Video on Skype

Hello!
I've upgraded new version of the Skype and really don't understand, video working on it or not. I have EH17 Rom, stock.
On new version of the Skype I can't see icons for the video. Is it only my or New version of Skype doesn't have a video?
Please, can somebody answer it?
Or, may be somebody will give me a link on skype which works on Epic 4G?

There are hacked apks to force video to work on unsupported devices.
As far as I know both of these work.

Video works on Froyo from the official marketplace app . . . just not the rear camera.

Go into settings and make sure video chat is enabled.
