are there any devs out here working on a stock build of Android 2.2 for the Epic 4G?
There's a stock froyo here already. You can flash it with odin.
Or do you mean ASOP?

@dangdang....kinda new here not sure what ASOP is...
@mysteryemotionz I'm talking about 2.2 without touchwiz/samsung widgets
I typo'd. I meant AOSP. It sounds like thats what you are looking for. AOSP is stock android from google. CyanogenMod is built from AOSP but currently we have a alpha release(not a daily driver).
Also there's a sticky with a list of roms. Theres one called AOSP Magic. Its themed to look like AOSP.

Mods would have to be done. There a files that have to be added and or modified due to hardware differences. Do a search for "vanilla" and 2.1" in the Hero CDMA thread here. There are a few great vanilla 2.1 ROMs already floating around.
its called an aosp, or Android open source project. the only true 2.1 aosp we have right now is darchdroid, not that doesn't have a working camera yet.
Are cm7 roms based on stock or asop?
is oxygen the only stock based rom??
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Stock is asop. Oxygen is cm7 based I believe, which is also asop based.
Follow the leader @corythug
Oxygen is not based on cm, it's based on stock.
There is also bionix as well if you are looking for a great stock based rom.

Is bugless beast based on stock? That's the custom rom I'm running that I haven't had problems out of(like sleep of death). Ill look up the bionix rom. EDIT: Pure Bionix is only for GSM Nexus?

Oxygen is pure AOSP, not CM based. Simply the best, I keep coming back to it after testing various CM7 and MIUI builds, all disappoint.
Oxygen is my daily driver with good battery life and performance. Currently running it with Franco kernel.
Btw, Oxygen just informed that he'll be working on ICS 4.0 as Oxygen version 3.0 whenever it drops. Can't wait, my petticoats are all affluter with anticipation.

Is this for trolls?

I'm using SuperOSR and is the best for me. It's fast and more complete that oxtgen. Is an AOSP with a little part of cm7 like the power widget

Not exactly excited about the touchwiz aspect, but I just want MTD and 4G.
Chances of this happening are *extremely* slim.
No there will most likely never be an mtd touchwiz rom.

So our only chance for mtd is miui or cm7?

Or any other AOSP rom, yes. For example, CM9 and ICS MIUI will both only be MTD for us.
A TouchWiz rom w/ MTD is possible, but very unlikely and probably not even worth the time.

At the moment. ICS will need MTD and someone could always try their hand at developing a pure AOSP ROM.

Not worth the time? Why? Not everyone is a big fan of MIUI or Cyanogen. I see no reason why this shouldn't be developed as something all rooted users could take advantage of.

Ehhhh, it requires you have android_kernel_epic4g_gb_official, android_device_samsung_epicmtd, a few other repos I don't remember off the top of my head, CM source, and then you've got to hope it compiles the issue is that it compiles with a CM build. Naturally our regular kernels don't necessarily have a 2 stage init. Go look and see if you can find a stock MTD kernel for other devices which didn't start at stock as MTD, I'm not sure there are many, if not any at all.
Noobnl had it booting but it reboots after a short bit.

Can i install stock gingerbread rom on galaxy y...not touchwiz interface but with original android interfaced stock gingerbread rom...
?????
Sent from my GT-S5360 using Tapatalk 2
U can't do that....
I might be wrong
Sent from my GT-S5360 using xda premium
As alkesh95 said, it will not work. The stock rom SHOULD be of the original touchwiz interface. This is necessary for every Samsung device.
To be more clear
Our custom roms are developed from stock roms. These stock roms/firmwares are developed by samsung. Samsung modifies the source as per device requirement and also adds their own UI i.e. Touchwiz.....
Pure gingerbread is in nexus phones and they use it...
P.s. I might be wrong

All you can do is get info on a rom and hope it's stable enough for you. If not there are plenty of stable ICS and GB roms.
JB ROMS

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1784629 is seemingly stable, the only issue I have found is that it doesn't "remember" wifi connections.
Toasted Marshmallow is pretty stable in my experience. I don't think it uses the new kernel, though.
