Voodoo5? - Fascinate General

I saw a tweet from jt1134 a few hours ago regarding voodoo5 working for the fascinate with cwm support. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to find this?

i recommend not installing it quite yet. just wait until some things are ironed out. from what i can gather, there were some people earlier on in irc with issues booting to cwm.

Cwm works on my voodoo5 hehe. It has since last night.

does it feel faster then stupidfast? i dont care about quadrant.

This is pretty insane fast, and smooth.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Voodoo5 along with DJ05 and modem is like having a brand new phone. Very noticeable increase in speed. Not sure (nor do I care) about the quadrant scores. Highly recommended, but install with caution and always ALWAYS backup data. Voodoo is a pain to fix and you most of the time lose everything if it fails.

Battery life, thats the crucial part....
How is it on Voodoo5 ????

Quadrant is getting high 1700's (1750-1790).
Seems rock solid as of build 1124 jt handed out tonight. CWM works...through the reboot mod (DJ05), but Rom Manager is being a little ***** about it.
No big, just flash directly from CWR....which is red now.\
So far, so good. This and DJ05 is pretty much all we needed. The phone is rock solid and smoother than ever now.

What changed between 1123 and 1124?

Check github if you're really that interested. Should be under the test folder, if memory serves me correctly....

Do you need to have DJ05 to update to the latest version of Voodoo?

yes..............

as of this very instant, go with Macnut, as Master hasn't updated Axura for a while.
But I would suggest holding out for just a little bit, as Axura is going to have a huge update, and at that point, will top Macnut.

Axura is not going to ever top Macnut IMO. Eugene is too far ahead in this game for Master to one up his rom, after all Master is using Eugene's kernels.. so how could Axura be better?
It's really all about personal preference. You have to try them both to see which works better for you. I've tried both and find Axura to be more smoother... Looks are different too.
Use them for a couple days to see which you would like better.
Yes its still Eugene's kernels.
Waiting for his next update. Currently on Axura 1.0.5

Thanks guys. I'm going to try Mac now and try it out till master drops a new one. I heard master say his new build would bring more to the table, I can't remember what thread its in but its on its way.
Lets not say Eugene is ahead because of his kernels because even he says they aren't his strong point. But he is ahead, no doubt.

oh no doubt that Eugene is the most important developer for the Vibrant, and Axura wouldn't exist without his work, but Axura has definetly proven to be more smooth. And Master is set to update his ROM to the most stable Froyo our phones have seen.
I just flashed mac and it is way better than I imagined. I expected alot less given what eugene has to work with. This is a nice rom thanks for the input can't wait to flash the next master rom.

Want to flash a Froyo so bad, but no GPS is a deal breaker. Look at forums every day, waiting for Macnut to say "GPS working!".
I thought the same thing but the pros out weighs the cons. I love flash and some of the tweeks that were added. I recomend at least getting the. TW mod.

I tried both and decided to go back to Axura due to my extensive use of LauncherPro in interface design. Macnut felt too "TouchWiz" like to me... even after loading Launcher2, I still missed the flexibility of LPro...
I would say hold off a few days and see what happens with the GPS issue.

It depends of what you want, speed, stability, latest, etc, and what your phone can handle mine can't handle overclock for example.
IMHO Eclair TeamWhisky Fusion Rom, Froyo Axura 2.0.4 Master.
I hope this help you.

haha! you said it well! I was about to say this.
Axura, and .5 should be even better once released.
You should go to the dev section and read about the different roms. They have different things that are good about each. Also different roms might work better on your phone than others. The 3 most popular seem to be Eugene, Axura and Team Whiskey(not in any order). FOr me Obsidian 4.2 with stock Kernal works the best for me. Like I said read first. One other thing I would say do is ODIN between each different Rom maker you use.
Obsidian v5 is running very smooth and fast for me, plus I love the black theme. I'd recommend it!
its all a matter of personal preference I personally like the Auxra ROM I like the looks the speed the battery life and the screen transitions! But look into the Android Development forum and read the feed back.

I do it just to keep from getting Ghosts. Its just my opinion.
Ive tried them all and I personally prefer axura for its amazing speed and battery life. The GPS works great for me too. Combined with Eugene's A14 ULF OC/UV kernel this rom flies. But be careful with the ulf kernel. I've had some pretty serious issues with converting dbdata to jfs...I would totally lose my data connection.

He was just messing with you, we have no gingerbread.
For me, it's stock JI6+JI2 modem + /data/data symlinked to /dbdata/data + root. It's fast as hell, solid as a mountain and gives me no problems at all.
i haven't flashed any of eugene's more current roms so i can't speak to those. however, i've been running the obsidian and onyx roms and they are great. but i flashed axura 2.0.4 last night and have been super impressed with it.
and really, imo, there is no reason to be flashing 2.1 roms anymore. there are great froyo roms that are fully functional, stable, and smooth.

[Q] [Poll] What is your favorite custom ROM?

Dug through 5 pages and didn't see this topic. I'm anxious to try EXT4 on my epic and I was wondering how you all feel about the ROMs you loaded on your phones. What's your favorite and why? What other roms have you tried?
My current setup is in my Sig but I love it. Its beautiful, smooth, and completely awesome.
My setup is in my sig too. I've tried almost all and this my favorite.
I'm currently using midnight with ext4 file system and it blows the doors off the two I previously used, epic experience 2.0.0.5 and then bonsai for all 1.0.4
Take care

After going from Bonsai 1.0.4 to Quantum 2.5.0, then back to Bonsai 1.1.1, I gotta say, Bonsai rocks the socks off Quantum. It's so much more smooth and glitch free. I also didn't care for Viper's theme or the attitude from the EpicExperience guy.

What surprised you? I'm curious. I was surprised too, however the sample size is small enough that its not really indicative of anything just yet. What surprised me was how many fellow Nebula users there are and how many bonsai users there are. From what I understand those are the two least flashy roms (flashy meaning speedy or pretty or the like) but just plain jane stable roms.
I'm using nebula 1.0.6 also ith ext4 and its really minimalistic. I love it.

Over in developement all the ROMs are listed with ROM in the thread title. The features and instructions are in the first post of each.
Do you BONSAI?
They're all Froyo with the exception of Nebula rom I think. What do you mean by scarcity? I wen't over to the Evo board and the amount of roms they had made my head spin.
Yeah im.talking about my fascinate, which has allot less roms than the evo, im not speaking for xda though which generally has allot of roms. Some questions though,Is EC05 the latest froyo release? And are there any kernels w/voodoo sound that wont brick my phone?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
EC05 is the latest stock release, it just came out a few weeks ago. Sprint is working on gingerbread now but there are only rumors about a release date.
I've tried several ROMs but keep going back to stock. I'd suggest spending a day or two on stock to see if you like it. Also, there have been a few roms that have bricked phones here. I would read the forums carefully before jumping. Also, be sure you know the difference between EXT4 and RFS ROMS, what journaling is and why it's important, and what odexed/deodexed means. Mixing those up can be a bad thing.
mkasick has a few great bug fix patches that can be applied to stock EC05 roms.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029152
If you just want a kernel, I'd suggest Genocide. I'm using Genocide 0.5 on a stock ROM, seems to improve battery life a little. Recent is 1.0, but there are so many changes and warnings on the first page regarding the changes i think I'll just stick with 0.5 and wait for Gingerbread.
Check out the acs rom I love it. The takiya (sp) is very stable, fast and has voodoo sound. It also won't brick your phone the kernal it comes with is good. The 'bad' kernals never got included in any roms

A journled rom means there is signifigantly less chance of data corruption should you have to do a hard reset. Non journaled you will get corruption if your battery pops out and therefor force closes.
cd's or tapes?

But, there is about a 2% performance gain with no-journaling, so it's a choice between a (very very very very) slight performance gain or increased stability.

Neither are journaled, enabling journaling is literally as easy as making a NAND backup then restoring it.
Actually I think the aosp clone has journaling enabled. But read the 1st page of the thread to be sure. I used it for a short time, it was very nice, but had a couple small problems.

I love Syndicate's rom but it did not play well with the Genocide kernel for me (or the stock Twilight kernel that comes with it for that matter). However, Syndicate w/ Vision 1.1 is Epic bliss. Stable w/ great battery life.
Im scared though of the vision kermel though, because so many complaints are being made about it...
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
1.2 was the one that caused issues as it used new methods of undervolting. It has since been pulled. Vision 1.1 is perfectly fine.
ACS = Android Creative Syndicate.
We are a team of developers. We.do kernels, roms, themes, mods and more. When you see [ACS] in the thread title it means a member of the team was behind it. We work together to create and enhance the best epic4g experience.
Please test everything from are work to others untill you find something that suites your needs. Personally I'm on Syndicate frozen rom. That was developed by k0nane and I had my hands in the.development myself. It comes preloaded witj the twilight kernel 1.1 from tanimn. Then I use the emotionless beast theme created by me. the three of us are members of ACS.
Now the truth about journaling. It was not turned off for the performance increase. That was a side effect. Journaling was turned off to extend the life of the Onenand chip. Less writes equals less wear and a little performance.

Best rom?

Hey I have a question, sorry if its been stated as I'm from the vibrant forum

I know you didn't mean to, but yes, this has been posted a billion times =P
And here is my answer: There is no "best" ROM; it depends on the User's experience. In my opinion, I like SyndicateROM Frozen the most, but there are so many others too, like midNIGHT, Bonsai4All, UrbanFury, etc. There really is no "best" ROM.
Here's another forum with the same question to give you a little more insight:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037394
Sorry if it's not really a direct answer, but then again there really is no answer.
Hope this helps!
Yeah this us to hard to answer. Its all personal opinion. Just flash them all and luck the one you like the best. They are all great so none of then will disapoint you at all

Yeah, what they said
If I were you I would start with syndicate rom. You will get a stable rom with support if something goes wrong. Midnight is great but the Dev sold his phone and won't be on here as much to help. It is based off of Bonsai.
Bonsai is not on here anymore. They started there own site that requires you to sign up and asks for a donation every time you download. I don't mind them asking but Bonsai has gotten out of hand.
I use midnight but am going back to syndicate as soon as K0nane and the rest of ACS release the newest ROM.
I used to use Frankenstein which is based on syndicate but his ROM is too new this time for me to try it. I wait for others to work out the bugs. LOL.
Samsung Epic with Midnight for now
EC05 Stock Plus. Stock experience with tweaks and bug fixes that make stock what it should be.
Viper Synergy 5.0
Viper Synergy 5.0 on ext4 with EC05 modem. BTW, Viperteam and ACS roms are the best but I prefer Viper. Viper Synergy 5.0 would be my recommendation.

It's not broken, you have bad data/cache/dalvik-cache/need to Fix Permissions/need to Odin to stock EC05, wipe and reflash/need to wipe SD card and perform the previous.
As for fixing permissions, how would I do that?
As for using Odin, I tried that a long time ago and my Epic would not connect to any computers, is there another way to get stock EC05?
I believe the ROM I was using before, Truly Epic ROM, was based off DK28.

I'm really not sure... I originally flashed the ROM coming from Truly Epic ROM v1.5, going to SyndicateROM Frozen 1.1.0, had some troubles, so factory reset, reinstalled Syndicate, had the phone app work off and on for a day, and now it's completely stopped working.
Sorry I'm not very good at this....
Odin to stock EC05, format your SD card, redownload the ROM, wipe 3x, flash.
