Hi
I am having problems with my internet connection on an O2 XDAii (UK). My GPRS (Mobile Web) connection seems to connect and when I use vxUtil ping I can reach net destinations however MSN, IE and netfront doesn't work.
MSN says "Proxy Error - Cannont locate the proxy server. To change proxy servers, tap settings" when I try and login. IE just says can't find the page, and netfront sometimes works but mainly doesn't. Activesync over the net fails as well.
This started happening after a restore using sprite back up. I've checked my connection settings against http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=290164
and it seems correct. I am faced with reinstalling everything now.
Have you made any ROM updates prior to restore?
her are the settings for o2 gprs
access point name = mobile.o2.co.uk
user name = o2web
password = password
use specific server address DNS 193.113.200.200
ALT DNS 193.113.200.201
Hi thanks for your responses.
I haven't put any ROM updates on it and have got the same settings in my connection.
still no joy
User name to CAP letter O so it reads user name = O2web
Thats the only difference I have if this doesn't work Hardreset and try it again as something must be screwed up - Mike
Greetings all, new user here with a TyTN issue.
I have a TyTN I am having trouble to send/receive POP3 mail while connected to Wi-Fi network with proxy server. I have searched web for solution but did not find anything specific, I hope someone can point me to the right direction here.
This issue only happens when I am connected to my work network. With my current setting I can browse web with IE but not send/receive POP3 mail. I receive following error message "Messages can not be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your e-mail account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again.".
My wireless network configuration are
all default except "Connects to:", which is set to Work instead of The Internet.
My proxy settings are
"This network connects to the Internet" - checked
"This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" - checked
Under Advanced, HTTP proxy's port changed to 8080, Socks proxy port changed to 8080 with sock 5 selected, WAP and Secure WAP were left blank.
My IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi Adapter settings are
"Use server-assigned IP address"
I have tested my TyTN in free Wi-Fi lounges where proxy isn't needed, I didn't have any problem send/receive e-mail. I have also tested send/receive e-mail via GPRS, that worked fine too. Discussing this issue with our IT department, they suggested to change setting under IEEE 802.11b/g Compatible Wi-Fi adapter to "Use specific IP address" and uncheck use proxy server setting under Network setup. I was able to send/receive e-mail when applying the above 2 changes to bypass proxy server. My question now is can I setup mail to work with proxy server instead of change network settings to bypass proxy server? Any help'd be greatly appreciated, thanks.
I have a wifi connection at work that want the certificate and the proxy server use.
I configure all on my htc touch but when I try to navigate it says that the proxy server is unreachable.
I go to see the proxy setting and it is empty.
After many tries I discover that the settings remain until I try to use them, and after this the field return empty.
Please help me.
Those of you who are using 3G on your Uni, can you please check your settings and let me know what do I need to do in order to set up my 3G connectivity please!
I already have the following:
APN
IP Address
2 DSNs
however when I enter this information it doesn't seem to connect perhaps I'm doing something wrong.
I do have a data plan (3G) so that is not an issue which I am currently using with my iphone without any problems.
Thank you very much for your help!
Over 30 ppl read this post and none of you on 3G?
Please your help is greatly appreciated
Re 3G setting for a Uni,
Hi serjay,
Sorry for the wait I have only just come across your message. Here are the setting you need. I hope they work for you?
You can input all the settings, but I can't seem to be able to access the 3 portal.
In settings, connections tab, connections
advanced tab, select networks
new, and input the relevant info from here:
Data accounts: Create one called 3 GPRS.
APN: three.co.uk
Username:
Password:
Login request: Off
Allow calls: Automatic
IP address:
DNS address:
Authentication: Normal
Data compression: Off
Header compression: Off
MMS settings can be entered via outlook menu
gateway: http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc
proxy: 217.171.192.2
port: 8799
(account is the 3UK avvount above)
Not sure if u need to input the Video gateway.
If anyone know how to actually open the portal, plz help,
I think the problem is that the page detects what device you are using, and an exec is not on their list
secondly - use the http://mobile.three.co.uk/hb/7600/HutchKey as access to the portal - just make it your homepage. this one is for nokia, it works with me.
For those who won´t get the 3Zone to work, try the following:
Using a registry editor, find the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent
then edit the default value to "Nokia6680"
reset
and then surf to the 3Zone Homepage for a nokia 6680 (ask someone who has one to find the url out)
3 Reads the "User Agent" String of the browser yourphone uses to find out which phone you have.
With the trick above you configure the Pocket Internet Explorer of your universal to convince three it is indeed a nokia6680.
So normally you only get phones to work which three has in it´s program.
Regards
Michael.

Renamed connections to “3G”
Selected a modem: Cellular line (GPRS, 3G)
Next
Entered Access point name:
Next
Entered User name, and password
Clicked Advanced
Selected “Use specific IP address” and entered the IP
Servers Tab
Selected “Use specific server address” and entered both the DSN and Alt DSN
Ok
Finish

However I still can’t connect!!!
Please if you can provide further direction; hopefully I’ve done something wrong…
Hi serjay,
Sorry for the wait I have been on short break to Kent so I have not managed to come back to you.
All I can think of when I did it on mine was I left Username and Password blank and the IP adress as well.
I am sorry I can not help you any further because I use a Nokia N95 as my mane phone now and not the PDA.
thank you Michael for your help thus far, I guess I'll keep on trying.
Thank you..

Well, you have to notice the Uni is 4 years older than Iphone, so.... it´s no too bad. Remember when Uni came out no other device can do all that Uni!!
Uni it´s like the grandpa of all the new devices, so we have it some respect as even some of the today devices are not as good as UNI
basically i read some where to uncheck the box of proxy settings or somethink, now when i got to send/recieve email it says error syncing. now its askin m to enter ther setting WAP, GPRS etc... username and password? anyody now these.
thankyou in advance
I dont have the proxy unchecked, and mines worked fine.
Here is full internet settings.
settings-menu-all settings-connections
connections - edit proxy server (under "t-mobile internet" or whatever is first default profile)
check the boxes
and click advanced
